Until you read on the oil you use, that it is compatable with alcohol, dont use alcohol if even hardly possible. alcohol turns the oil into micro sized jelly beans (I like to think more like gummy bears), plus it likes to force seperate the water from gas, which is an issue, and IMHO (not just mine, lots of reading) the alcohol gas goes bad in less than 90 days of storage (in less than 50 gallon storage containers). FWIW, We use some race fuel, about 1/3 race to regular no blend. US regulations no longer make it mandatory to tell the consumer if he is buying alcohol blended fuels. I feel lucky, the manager of the buisness I buy fuel from is a motorcycle enthusiast as well, reportedly... so he wants to keep the availability of non blended gas at his station. you will notice non alcohol blends last longer, and if you have older bikes with plastic or fiberglass tanks, blends cause issues with those tanks as well... I drive 60+ miles to work and back per day, alcohol takes more than 10% off my weekly mileage per tank average, I track this for more than a year with 2 stations I buy from. one near work has non blend and one at home is blend by default. If my Kehin carbed gasgas will plug with blended fuels that have alcohol, EVERY TIME. Long time ago, when i was into high performance cars, people used Avaition gas, but my engine builder at the time recommended that I shouldn't, he thought 50/50 could be ok if and when I said I wanted to try it, but I didnt. I cant recall why he didnt like it, he was an older guy done this for years, and this was in the late 80's.

If you are looking at the .PDF parts books online, for the part, I am pretty sure that I noticed that if the part was different, then it would show different part # under the other models, at least ON SOME THINGS, not all mind you, like one book page author was LAZY, lol... but yeah I have 125's and 300' they are interchangeable. I havent changed a filter in the 10/11 models yet. The bike isnt mine so I didnt look, but I bet they are still that same sock.
  4. Dave, as I dont do metrics, it sounds like you weigh about 220 lbs. I'm a bit more but this is what I feel like I know/understand about this. Those adjusters do very minor changes from what I have read and been told and tried. the big adjustment for how the compression (one side) and rebound (the other side) is what weight oil you put in there, then the adjusters do like 30% comparative maximum changes, that say 1weight of change in the oil does (this isnt the exact numbers but you get the idea). OIL = Big change, screw = Micro changes. newer bikes I believe have compression and rebound marked on wichever cap is which, older bikes might need you to experiment or dissasemble a little bit, to determin which is which. Compression resists pushing together rebound resists pulling back apart. Seems to me, better riders than me suggest that usually you screw the compression screw in all the way, this obstructs the hole that the fork oil is pumped through as the forks are being compressed. In that side of the forks I run heavier fluids in, because I'm a bit heavier than you, and I ride in upper classes (bigger rocks to ride off of) and I want the forks to resist more against bottoming out when I come off something. So obviously rebound is the opposite, I want the forks to get back to full lenght quicker, so I run thinner oil and unscrew the adjuster fully. this means the oil which is thinner gets pumped through a hole with less restriction added to with adjuster and so it rebounds easier and quicker. Factory adjustment varys, last bike I uncrated had the adjusters completely unscrewed (least restriction added to the fork) for both compression and rebound, and I can tell you that I cant tell much difference when I screwed the compression all the way in either, which I do because of habit. Ill probably change oil in the compression on this bike to thicker like was done on the last bike I had and seems to suit me. YOUR adjustments can vary for weight and riding style and FORK manufacturer! , you dont want the wheel reboundind too easily and you dont want the compression to hard, so it can be trial and error on oils and setting. Lastly If novice (beginner) these adjustments really dont mean jack.
  5. The Econo is the equivalant to an 08 "pro" with an 2010 engine, and using up leftover parts from earlier years of production. In 09 they completely revamped the frames. and some other bits like shocks and forks, tires rims etc... the Econo would apparently not use any of this, as well some other leftover parts assembleys. the bike has tube type tire I hear. I realy dont know how much that saves you in the long run? and the rest should be just like they sold in 08 or say 06 at the worst (if you count the chrome headpipe vs titanium headpipe on the newer bikes), just like they say in add pages, makes the bike a lot cheaper to purchase new. You could always accumulate these same bits over time. But if you are already riding an older "pro" model gasgas, you would only be getting the newer engine IMHO. I ride an 06 300 "pro" and I will state outloud, that the bike isnt holding me back in any shape or form, in fact in the next few months I will be finding out if the 06 fits me better than the soon to inherit 08? Raga prototype of the same cc...

  8. Since so few of us here are Pro nor Expert... I thought the support lines were tough but rideable, but I cant tell since it is the only one I have ridden. not sure but I think Highschool was really tough... I still dont know if Oklahoma's rounds this year, were harder than we'll need to expect this year at other venues? or like last year when I get the feeling that most of the (NON PRO-Expert) aka support class competitors thought they were slightly easier than the other rounds? Maybe you other "support" riders that RODE last year as well can chime in on this? Im really wishin I had at least went and watched the Tish Rounds last year, so i would have an idea. This was my 1st nationals, and yes I rode support - age category. I didnt get to ride last year, because of injury I held myself out, but Nebraska didn't look as tough. Since I will admit that a lot of times they are harder than they look, I hope you post your thoughts?

  12. Zippy, if in usa, I say goto this page, I really liked the way they review stuff. http://www.steves-digicams.com/ they review most cameras worth reviewing. Personally any of the canon g2 through g9 are nice consumer type cameras that gave good quality pics, decent lenght vids (usually max length = mem card size the camera woudl handle) Now know the g1 came out in 00, g2 like 01, etc. they sometimes vaulted up in specs and stuff. neat thing is if you know to watch for g3's in pawnshops or ebay or craigslists... you can buy used cheap. I like the g3 even though they are long in tooth. if you want new get the new one. 2 years ago I was going to buy the g3, but bought the Kodak competitor which was available local and 20 bucks cheaper and my my parents had the printer and yada yada.... I really have been 50% dissapointed in the friggin KODAK, and Steve kinda concluded to this in several ways (if you compare carefully). My coworker bought the g3 and still likes it. Im making assumptions though, I havent read about a reviewed a camera in 2 years. There was a critical "teter toter" on the price/performance scales back then, and cheap cameras were too friggin slow to take pictures of sporting events! At least not without knowing several tricks... because by the time autofocus and flash were calculated (older Kodaks likes to flash if you need it or not BTW) the shot would have been mised by about the count of 3, as in one, two, three count... personally I find it is better to know people as "friends" that bought the high dollar SLR cameras, buy thier old ones or invite them to see and shoot! there is no comparison to the 1000 dollar camera and my cheap $200 consumer POS, even with me on the shutter button. there are cheaper cameras out there im sure that work better then my old one, that is the problem, tech changes soo dang fast, by the time you choose, there is a newer better one being leaked out... just like PC's and bikes.

The plan being considered by U.S. trade officials would impose a 100 percent import duty on more than 100 European goods -- including two engine displacement categories of motorcycles, 51cc to 250cc, and 251cc to 500cc. The federal measure is designed as retaliation to the 27-member European Union's continuing import ban on American beef treated with growth hormones. EU officials haven't lifted that 20-year-old ban, despite a World Trade Organization (WTO) order to end it. If U.S. officials impose the retaliatory tariff, it would double the price of a host of under-500cc on- and off-highway machines from brands such as Aprilia, Beta, BMW, Fantic, Gas Gas, Husaberg, Husqvarna, KTM, Montesa, Piaggio, Scorpa, Sherco, TM and Vespa. "There is no logical link between European motorcycles and the dispute over beef," said Ed Moreland, AMA vice president for government relations, in his comments submitted to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. "Imposing these stiff tariffs on motorcycles would do nothing to resolve the trade dispute, but would punish American buyers of European motorcycles." The AMA's comments make a strong argument that motorcycles have no business being used as a lever in a dispute over beef. "Trade disputes residing concretely within the boundaries of the agricultural industry should not be resolved with trade sanctions levied against non-agricultural products," Moreland said. "A 100 percent ad valorem, or higher, tariff on these motorcycles will cause serious and potentially irreversible harm to American small- and medium-sized business owners selling the vehicles. Additionally, citizens will be denied access to certain models of competition and recreation motorcycles that contribute to the lifestyle and well-being of millions of American families." The United States wants to impose $116.8 million in import duties to equal the amount of money it claims the U.S. beef industry loses each year because of the ban. The WTO has agreed on that amount. Interested parties have until Dec. 8 to comment on which European goods should be subject to the 100 percent tariff in the dispute. It is unknown when U.S. officials will make a final decision.

State Legislation Would Make It Illegal for Anyone under the Age of 14 to Operate an ATV, Dirtbike or Snowmobile Joint Committee on Transportation rewrites restrictive bill -- still bans youth riding Senate bill 2735, which is a rewrite of House bill 3592 by the Joint Committee on Transportation, would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 14 to operate an ATV, off-highway motorcycle or snowmobile. It would also limit operators under the age of 16 to dirtbikes, ATVs and snow machines with 90cc or less of engine displacement. Anyone born after January 1, 1990 would be required to complete a "recreational vehicle safety and responsibility course" before they could legally operate an off-highway vehicle. Furthermore, the legislation would authorize the director of the office of environmental law enforcement to further increase the minimum age for dirtbike, ATV and snowmobile operators at a later date. The Senate postponed acting on the re-write in its last meeting but could take up the matter as soon as June 26th. The AMA urges riders to contact their state senators with their opposition to this bill. A personal letter or phone call is recommended but a prewritten email response is provided through the AMA's Issues & Legislation service.
  17. I had the 99 321, not positive but we used ATF in the clutch/transmission side which is the same side as the water pump. (PS there is NO other oil holding cavity in a 2 stroke engine, clutch and transmission are one and the same!. the manual/video manuals stated to use a specific amount like 5xx cc of oil, however we only ran 450cc's of ATF, which reduced the drag on the clutches (the force that trys to move the bike even when clutch was pulled/disengaged) on the TXT bikes. seems to me they are on the clutch case cover by the kickstart area, but it has been a few years since I messed with a TXT.

  19. Discovery channel had a interview/documentary saturday, I managed to record it, well last 50 minutes of it. Reason I post is that Evel stated that Robbie JR, came up several yards short, and whould been decapitated. But because Dad (evil) had insisted that robbie build the ramp with saftey landing area (the flat part of the landing ramps) that Robbie is still alive. Seems to me somone else jumped the fountains, since then, did he also do a backflip or something as well?
  20. I dont know why the trials guys wouldnt get the Yamaha scorpa with the long ride kit, some gearing, and kick real ass? I mean crap, they could sit once in a while and really be fast at that. hell beyond that, a 95 Pampera with MX type "ish" powerband enduro gearing, crap I would bet would wipe the new bikes off the planet even at the OK event.

    Broken Shock

    Just FYI KDUB, The older TXT's (up to but not necessarily the 2000 model year) used a shock that held a spring that was NOT tapered, meaning the top hole in coil was same as the other in size (diameter) but the newer bikes, use Tapered springs. I could use the tapered in my older bike, but I am pretty positive I couldn't use the square spring in the newer bikes. We had both 99 321 & 2000 321, 2002 200 at the same time, not long ago.
  24. Thanks for the info, I was getting ready to look more into about AMA stuff anyway. Been busy as heck... I dont know, but I have heard AMA is all or nothing when or if it involves "club stuff," maybe for trials they're relaxing some of that? AAND BTW, No! I dont know that, it was just speculated near me and I said so here in case anyone knows.
