  1. well I had an '05 rev3 for 9 years and had a stator go, otherwise apart from routine maintenance was was faultless,I carried out the mods over the years as in John Lampkins tips, and certainly no bits ever broke, actually think Beta's are one of the stronger /better built bikes, unfortunately you appear to have a rough one! BTW just upgraded to a 200 evo and am very impressed.
  2. Power corrupts....but we all love a bit of corruption!
  3. had 250 and 270 rev3. 270 not really a beast, preferred it to 250 in many ways, look for clean 06/7/8 for that money
  4. very good advice from stpauls! I always put my levers"inboard", gives you more leverage too
  5. would a bush thats not worn rattle ? whether bush or bearing if its worn it will rattle if not it shouldn't I though t the 200 had slightly more piston clearance due to the iron liner. I think Nigel Birkett developed the 200 originally so he would be the man to ask.
  6. thought 200 was a sleeved down 250 (iron liner) and I have heard they are a bit noisier on the top end, I have one and I would describe it as more of a rustle than a rattle
  7. pop into AB motorcycles just off(under!) the heads of the valley's road nr the auctions, Barry will point you in the right direction
  8. back in the day a Mikuni conversion (usually from sammy miller) was a common (big) improvement.
  9. once bought a "selection box" of springs from Aldi, been useful dozens of times for this sort of thing! and for ball bearings i smash the casing on old wheel bearings, they seem to be right size for that sort of thing!
  10. looks like I need to try some 5/30 as I have clutch drag problems! btw a lot of people seem to use ATF, though I havn't tried it
  11. thought gear oil had lead in it to withstand extreme pressure (as with meshing gears) while engine oil is designed to maintain viscosity at higher temperatures, it does not get thicker, at higher temperatures but does not get as thin as a "straight" oil would.....I may be wrong of course...it has been known!
  12. half way up the sight glass?
  13. the definition of easy depends on your ability I,ve ridden trials, finished on a single figure score and seen riders on 3 figure scores, it wasn't easy for them!
  14. They did have a nice Mick Whitlock frame!

    No Spark

as above check the kill switch, the beta one as a habit of sticking in
  16. sharp tap with a chisel
  17. what do you mean by rev plate? if you mean the curved metal reed stops, I think they are not needed with dual stage reeds, that would reduce thickness.
  18. so next years Raga replica will weigh more than the standard bike and cost less?
  19. good mate of mine always said "easiest way to lighten a bike is to put the rider on a diet"
