  1. it's not just trials, the Spanish are pretty dominant in Motogp too, a lot of it is the way their federation is set set up to progress and support young riders who show promise, I believe a trials license about 300 euros and presumably more for road race etc this money is ploughed back into the sport to help young talent.
  2. Brilliant, takes me back to when I started riding?
  3. I was about to comment that they look like 2013 Beta's.I did see a post on facebook from I think "Manchester motorcycles" with some coy replies to comments like "wait and see"!
  4. Merthyr club is probably the nearest club to you, currently active, there are a few down west, Neath etc. not heard of the Cardiff club recently. Barry Mcnulty of AB motorcycles Merthyr can put you in touch with their club. I am in the pontypool area and now mainly only ride Gwent Classic trials,we have one on the 15th of October at my farm, between pontypool and Cwmbran
  5. http://www.betausa.com/sites/default/files/pdf/STT-2012-3-Evo%20300%20clutch%20set%20up.pdf its on here try this link
  6. sure I've seen an article that shows how to lighten a Beta clutch by reversing the washers either side of the springs or something like that there were about 6 different combinations...will try to find the article. By the way my evo clutch is excellent and very light, so maybe its set up differently (its a 200)
  7. Just a thought, as you have had the shock linkage off, on some bikes (not sure of gas gas) it's possible to put linkage back wrong way and lower the back end, I know someone who did it on a montesa
  8. there has always been an environmental aspect to subsidies, so not sure what Gove is on about! perhaps MP's salaries should be dependent on them "protecting the environment and enhancing rural life"
  9. I have been riding mostly Beta's for the last 25 years...hardly ever used bottom gear, mostly 2nd, with 3rd and 4th in reserve, never felt the need to gear up, but i suppose if you do a lot of road work it would be handy

    Chain

just had a look at mine (there was never a slider as std) chain has been touching over the years, not enough to worry about, could be made worse by a smaller rear sprocket? or longer shocks or re-located shock mounts?
  11. the needle is tapered so will always have movement, look down at the needle jet, they (due to movement of the needle) can wear, if there is any ovality to it it is worn and needs replacing
  12. I used stove paint, ok so far
  13. good luck!...and enjoy!
  14. You can get an airlock in the cooling system, but I would also suspect head gasket
  15. John Collins in Port Talbot always used to do lots of bultaco spares New and secondhand and exchange cranks etc might be worth giving him a ring? just googled him, has an ebay shop and number is 0163988241 says he stocks spares for and repairs Bultaco's
  16. do you know of an engineering firm local to you? If you can get a conrod crankpin and bearing a good local engineer should be able to do it and possibly a rebore too.
  17. yes mine too, newest you can afford!
  18. 4 pot rear caliper in pic, my 05 had twin pot
  19. got a set of these girling gas shocks on my whitehawk, still working fine, they are just like the photo, the spacers can be added or removed to adjust the preload, we had 2 girling factories in our area, hence EVERYONE had these on their bikes! (for the price of a pint and a packet of fags)
  20. I ride a 200 beta, lovely bike, rides like a 125 with a bit in reserve!
  21. grey frame from new on mine, lots of local lads used to strip theirs and get a mate to chrome them, unless they worked in Girlings themselves!
