  1. Observers, the sport is dead without them. I confess to bellowing at each and every one of them, to say "Thank you" as I leave the section on the last lap. A little politeness goes a long way. Who else would stand out in all weathers to watch a single section.

I have a standard one and am in contact with Takumi Narita. He told me that the porting and head combustion chamber size was a problem. He will dig out some of his old factory data sometime soon. When I rode his bike it ran perfectly, he was running a PWK as well as shrouding the inner face of the middle box with carbon fibre/asbestos to reduce heat loading. As standard they did not come with Ti bolts. Big John, could you let me know who is breaking the TLM as I need some spares. Thanks

Mr Sheppard seemed to do well on a modified version!!!
  4. Woody thanks you confirmed my suspision. Does the mono flywheel not fit as well or is the taper different? I am trying to establish what I need to by from the bay
  5. I think it is possible to fit a later mono electronic ignition to a twinshock TY250. Can anyone confirm if this is true and if it is a direct fit or is some engineering required.
  6. I am pretty certain the crankcases are alloy and can be welded. The original ignition cover is magnesium

    A pukka reflection. Real

Thanks, love a 250 but not at the price they are going for!

I was at a trial on Sunday with some pretty big climbs. I found my TLR 200 ran out of steam sometimes and am looking for some more oohmph (before I take the more drastic step of going on a diet). I am thinking of going for a higher compression piston or if one exists a big bore kit. Has anyone tried a more agressive cam (duration overlap) from the XL or CB series? Another option would be a larger valve head from the same source if the breathing is restricted. I am not too worried about losing the mega smooth bottom end as I prefer to rev the bike rather than plonk it. Any ideas would be most welcome.
  10. Why take the risk of a repair? Footrests are relatively cheap and are dammed important. If the weld fails and you have an accident who would accept liability? Treat yourself to some titanium ones that are really robust.
  11. My first ever trials bike was a Sprite Sachs 150, I rode it for about 1 year before my Dad bought me a Montesa 250 UKR. A couple of years ago I bought a Wassell Sachs for a trip down memory lane. Horrible, horrible, horrible, no bottom end and when it came on the power the rear wheel spun away like crazy! Sold it straight away. The rose tinted effect was shattered.

I have on very good authority that a new book about Hondas is well under way. Just have to wait and see.
  14. Didn't see it on e bay damm!
  15. I have a TLR with minimal wiring and would like to fit a kill button. Where should I connect it to? The wiring is alternator and pulse generator to CDI CDI to coil All the rest has been removed. Thanks
  16. I use a very fine burr in a drill to remove the carbon, when you see alloy move on. Very quick and easy
  17. Correct, two people seperated by a common language.
  18. It is worth spending the money and buying a steel vice, you will never break it. Yours must be a cast iron and as you have seen two break in the same place it could be a problem with the casting cooling and creating internal stress. I have paid about 70 pounds for a used one when the local college stut its vocational training down.

Can I ask what airbox mod you are using?
  20. I have to say I considered converting a TLM Honda for nostalgia reasons and my love of Honda but saw sense and bought a TLR. A mono should remain mono, however what about fitting a mono engine in a twinshock chassis? In Yams case this was basically a works bike using the six speed OW10 engines. If we are not careful we will soon have the first 10,000 twinshock like in Pre-65.
  21. There are a few tools for just this job on ebay
  22. Thanks
  23. Garden furniture cleaner also works well
  24. I need to fit lights to my RTL, does anyone have a simple wiring diagram, the less wires the better!

I time my bikes to standard then whilst practicing advance and then retard a little. Testing this way means all things are equal and the effect of timing are evident. Obviously dont ride in water!!!!!!
