  1. Thanks very much. It's down the shop for a buthcher's methinks.
  2. After my experience of last week where my camera was not responding immediately when I pressed the shutter release I need a new one. What I want is something as small as possible to fit in a riding jacket pocket. Nothing sticking out such as the lens to spoil the line of my coat or dig in when I fall off. It must take the shot as soon as I press the button and not a second or so later when it makes up its own mind. Do I need a digital SLR or is there something less bulky on the market. Cheers
  3. Cheap way to the nipped up breather. Cut a length from an old bicycle tube and fit it over the end of the open pipe. The tube is naturally flat.
  4. I've got one. Spares a pain unless you are lucky. Good point Honda reliability.

    315 Flat Tank

I think they used a plug from a Honda RS 250 race bike. Ask at Colin Appleyards as they are HRC experts. Are there any more of these tanks for sale I would love one!!!
  6. For parts try Rathmall's, Stevens Trials Centre, and DMS trialsport. I have bought from all in the past.
  7. I have a reed fitted on my Jumbo. Still not impressed by the power. Way less than I expected. I have an old article where it states that the blanked off reed was to reduce the throttle response. Modern tyres grip and we are used to case reed engines so it is not much of an issue. I would like to fit an electronic ignition to mine to reduce the flywheel weight. Martin do you know of one off a motocross or enduro bike that fits??
  8. Do not set your idle too low. I set mine to a fast tickover and use the clutch when necessary (not often). This then masks the flatspot and make the bike less likly to spit and stop. I also use fixed ignition advance for the reasons above. (PVL is best)
  9. Steel bodies do not contaminate the oil as badly as alloy ones do when the anodizing wears off. They are also more tempreture stable. (It is interesting to note that Bruno Cammozi used steel in preference to alloy rear shock on his works Gas Gas).
  10. As I currently own two of these bikes I can add info as far as I know. There were 5 frames made by Eric Cheney for Ossa UK. 1 was a sidecar and later scrapped. (source Simon Cheney). They were both originally nickel plated although one is now bright yellow. My frames are slightly different where the seat and downtubes meet. Keith Horsman made a number of replicas his were different to the Cheney. (he could tell straight away from my photos that it was not made by him). He made me an alloy exhaust. I am always looking for info on the bikes so if you have a photo or history please drop me a line. Thanks
  11. Bought a scissor lift bor my old man for Xmas. He has a triumph twin in a metisse. He loves it. By the way to secure the bike it comes withh hooks to the footrest. I have 2 in my workshop as well. Best 75 quid you can ever spend. (No i dont sell them)
  12. What sort of money are Homerlite tanks going for these days?
  13. Best mods to do are; Porting barrel send it to Haven. Modify ignition pickups to advance engine. Boysen reeds only. Keihin carb. Jitsie plates. If above is done it will feel much livelier and steer better. A couple of hundred quid should sort it.
  14. Never heard of this tool can you give a link to a supplier or article. Thanks
  15. Unless I'm very much mistaken it will be attached to the right hand bar end!!
  16. I cannot be certin for all model years but I have a DT 175 engine where very little fits the TY even the head does not fit so I doubt the barrel will However a DT 250 does dirrectly on a TY 250 and makes it feel much more modern!!
  17. Never mind the helmet! What engine is Mick using in the photo as the side case is certainly not standard. What is it off and more importantly will it fit a standard TY. Thanks
  18. First priority: helmet, (cheap is OK as they do not get much high speed impact damage) followed by gloves and boots. Wulfsport do cheap one or ring up importers and see if any last years models are going cheap. Buy trials not motorcross boots as the latter are too stiff. I work on the philosophy that the only too points of contact with the bike are hands and feet, and hopefully you value your head. Trousers are next on the list of essentials again last years models are just as good. Finally sweat wicking football shirts are just as good and can be had for less than a tenner. Don't break the bank just ride!!
  19. Dixie, I do'nt think I made my point clear. It is no use producing a bike to comply with legislation which does not work for it's intended purpose. If it is necessary to remove restrictors to achieve full power then the design is rubbish! I maintain that Honda could and should do a better job at noise restriction for the lifetime of the bike not just to pass type approval. We will lose more land to noisy bikes than quite ones.
  20. I was in Italy (milan) a few weeks ago. Saw quite a lot of poncing about (shades and slicked back hair) did'nt recon they were going to get too muddy. So guess the fashion statement must be treu.
  21. I totally agree that in unrestricted form the Mont is too loud. Pressure should be put on the factory by importers as the bikes are not road legal when restrictors are removed. The Honda image should be worth more than a noisy exhaust. I cannot understand how they cannot silence the bike with such a big lump stuck on the back end

    Carb On A 4rt.

Drive a Mitsubishi space wagon from 2001 black box controlling the airbag went this week total damage 700 quid. Modern electonics!!!
  23. You may have a problem with air leakage through the ignition side crank seal (the clutch side would be smoky) if you can spray chain lube on the seal (and let it dry) if it cures the problem for a short while you have found the source of the problem. ( the grease plugs the leak for a while)

    4rt Options

Thinking of going the 4RT route. I really fancy the programmable ignition. I read there are also 2 button jobs. Can someone clarify what options are avaliable, cost and from whom? How can I tell if a bike is fitted with a programmable ignition.
