My 98 used to knock when I rolled off the throttle, until I started using super-unleaded fuel.

I've thought about doing this before ...but then I remembered how I drag my bike across rocks so I didn't think any further

Nooooo......the Shercos have the button washer and spline-shaft bolt....I thought the newer Betas had the slotted kick-start lever arrangement??

02 seemed to have a heavier front end and tracked very well...01 was a bit lighter at the front therefore didn't track as well but was easier to lift..so it's horses for courses. I wasn't aware of the other changes listed until 03 when the porting and piston? were changed and this made the bike more frisky. By the time I had realized how good the 03 changes were I couldn't buy one for love or money.

Is his the decisive question/answer.....................The water -flap-valve-doo-dahh....do you leave it?????? or seal it??????

I'll answer for dan as I guess he's asleep at the moment in the U S A. The female-spline part of the kick-start lever has a slot through it so when you tighten the bolt it clamps around the spline-shaft. File or hacksaw this slot so it's a little bit wider and you should get more clamping force when you tighten the bolt. I can't remember which bike I did this on but it has worked for me in the past

This is what I do ,dunno' if it's correct but... after I've washed the bike I sit it on a crate so the front wheel is off the ground and leave it for a while ( I've only used it three times this year so it has been a while) Next time I return to my bike I crack open the blue caps and let the air out..sounds like I've opened a can of coke..re-tighten caps and Robert is very much your mothers brother

Trials tyres grip well on rock surfaces and they don't foul the swing arm..but I know what you mean about prices!

pindie, I don't own a Pro but I know there is a cam like adjuster for fine-tuning the gear selector mechanism. I think it sits just underneath the clutch and you don't have to take the motor out of the frame to fettle it. Do a search on this topic and hope that someone with a lot more detail than me can reply in the meantime Just twigged..you may get better results in the Gas Gas section of these forums.

I think the silencer is packed with stainless wire-wool so you can get some good results by burning it out. Personally this method didn't work for me but swilling with petrol for a week or so did?? The more worrying thing is that the silencer reached such a high temperature while the bike was operating !! I'm told if your timing is retarded too much then the exhaust runs very hot,distorting the rear mud-guard (if you've removed the baco-foil). Some people can even tell where your timing is at by looking at the dis-colouration of the front pipe.
