sherco 125 best bike around at the moment!
-
i have owned an 06 125 08 125 and 015 125 shercos and 125s end up rattly after a few years. that noise is pretty normal, not too bad at the moment and wont affect anything, if your really fussy and want the noise gone i would replace the piston and rings along with the small end bearing. or strip it down and figure which one is worn, it will be one of those. best changing it all while your there. that bikes probably still on its original piston.
this would get rid of the ticking/light top end noise, the slight whiring and rumbling noise is the clutch, also normal. while your there change the airfilter to so you can keep the new piston etc extra protected. as for the induction noise twinshock dude, the shercos over those years had airboxes which where 'open' with just the mudguard on top. also turn your idle down. do this by turning the big screw on the carb anticlockwise. also make it abit richer by giving it 1/4 maybe more out ( pretty sure its out on the dellorto.. someone confirm this?) hope this helps and you can continue to enjoy the bike. any more questions just ask

a modern 2 stroke is your best bet. alot easier to ride, a 125 is plenty for most people, unless your overweight and want to ride the elite route on it, then your gonna need more power lol.
-
not sure on the ohlins, i do know though that the tech fork is very very good. it is lighter than the other forks and i have it on my sherco and it makes the front end super light. if you can stretch the £ i would go for the RR. also worth bearing in mind it would hold its value alot better than standard, if you keep it in good condition!
-
good on you for still riding! dont suppose it was your gasgas 2013 up for sale on here was it?
-
are you using the trials bike to help your enduro riding or want to get into trials ?
-
hi pitbull, welcome to trials what an epic place you have to ride! that climb you have in the first bits of part 2 looks soo good. where are you located? your doing well considering you just started. keep practicing, you will only get more confident and better. i heard in the video you made a comment about suspension being too soft, you can adjust the preload etc on the rear shock. they are designed to be pretty soft and the front forks should use most of their travel regularly. nice bike
keep us posted on how you get on!

aussie chris has covered it pretty much but heres my say, change gear oil every 12-15 hours of riding and i would do the airfilter on hours ridden too, not by looking at it because the filter will pick up dust too which is not always visible. clean it after a couple of dusty day rides, or if you are ridng in wet and muddy conditions clean it on what it looks like. plugs seem to last ages on these so thats not a problem, although it will get clogged more easier if you dont clean you airfilter because the bike will run rich. being a fairly recent bike most fluids in brakes etc should be alright. as for chain and sprockets, we have a bike with rear and front sprockets that have less than 1/3 of the original tooth left they are so hooked. still dont see why i should change them because its working perfectly fine with out a single problem or slip. when it starts to jump or slip i will change but dont need to at the moment! getting my moneys worth lol

im not sure on that one, someone will know.... have you checked what the above posts said?

on gasgas 280s the power is alot snappier on the 280 and its usually expert riders who own them. this is not the case with the 280 jotagas. it is very smooth and has plenty of tourque. i also found it easier to ride than the 300. it feels lighter to ride and revs quicker. it also does not have the problem which some of the 300s had that year which was extremely bad pinking due to dodgy cyclinder heads with too much comprression . a low comp head sorted this. it has alot more go than a 250 yet easier to ride than a 300. enough power for anyone, even championship riders. a highly underated bike in my opinion.

just keep the airfilter clean often and oiled, grease the chain alot and keep it tight, change gear oil every 12 hours of riding. simple job, drain oil screw is in crankcase directly under the gear lever, theres usually a little sticker pointing to it. before you drain it run the bike untill normal operating temp as this thins the oil therefore more will flow out. put 425ml back in. says 450ml but you can never get it all out and i had the same bike and year as you and found if you put 450 in you got bad clutch drag when even after leaving it an hour youd come back and it would be bad. just keep it all cleaned up and oiled on moving parts and it will serve you well.

as mentioned give the cable a little wiggle where it goes into the carb, had this happen alot, even on newish bikes. it needs to sit fully back into the tube that comes out the carb. also place your finger on the side of carb/float bowl and with the engine of open the throtte to full and let go of it, you will know if it has returned fully becuase the carb will make a light clunk as the slide bottoms out. also take the piliot jet and put it in carb cleaner and let it soak, then blow it out with compressed air, it has to be properly blasted through, the 125 jet is so small. my piliot jet on my 125 gets clogged quite often and sometimes causes "hanging" revs. hope you can make sense of all of that! good luck!

also where are you riding? looks like Sussex downs to me?, near where i go.

we had an 09 4rt standard for about half a year. as people have said on here it requires revs in the wet. great bike i thought, even though i never rode proper events on it as im not old enough for acu yet i practiced for probably over 30 hours on it, mainly in mud, hills, roots, cambers , ditches etc. suspension is far superior to others. just as your finding at the start i couldnt get the knack of getting grip, and we live in possibly the muddiest place in England when wet. i found the technique that some say on here of being really smooth with no clutch doesnt work if you start doing inters or expert sections when wet. i found you really have to be aggressive and rag it to grip. if you try the smooth no clutch method in the section you explained i found you start to spin and slow down and basically stop moving and just sit there spinning. using 3rd and revving the nuts of it and clutching it like you would on the gasser it really does fly and once your moving the clutch can be left out and it will continue to grip really well even lifting the front up. once you get this method it does work really well. awesome noise too ! in some situations where there was extreme mud where you litterally plough through it with a big hill ahead i found 4th also works well with lots of revs haha. loved that bike and shame we had to sell it. seriously considering one for my next bike once im old enough...

phone gasgas uk . numbers on their website. and no newer design wont fit.

the gasgas and sherco 125s we have had new have come exactly the same as the bigger bikes, although on one bike we had a slightly lower rated rear spring on the shock. the recent ones have been the same though. the 125s also some times have a 'compressor' in the front pipe which helps to create more bottom end grunt. also obviously they will have different jets in the carbs. the 125 bike weighs the same as the 300s albeit the weight difference in the crank and cyclinder. they just feel lighter to ride somehow which i dont understand haha.
-
we had similar running symptoms as you. does yours have a decompressor? ours was not fully coming out as the top of it hit the front pipe! only needed to come out a tad more for it to run good. also the carb float bowl gasket was gone on ours so that helped..
-
my 125 15 was set fully screwed in. now its started to warm up here it wasnt picking up so well, so screwed out half a term and its perfect, picks up instantly and revs out cleanly. another half turn out and its abit weak and lower revs are not smooth espeicially on running down its like its starting to run out of fuel if you get what i mean. i would just leave it if i where you jetting from standard seems fine. hope your enjoying it, great bikes.

this is in east sussex, this wont be too far from you and is based in a small town called sandhurst. its near rye. its 30 minutes from me and we are always going there ( contacting the owner first and paying ) and using the land as its an awesome place. his names jason and he has a fleet of betas, i have had a couple of lessons with him before we moved up a route with my mate on 125s. you can just use the land. or hire a couple of his betas and have a solid day out. thoroughly recommend !!

cope, this is either him or one of pennos riding mates......... not being funny mate but that sherco 2014 factory sounds mint !!!
-
they are driving some massive race truck from girona to scotland to help support riders in the ssdt. so they havent finished, yet.....
i tried to order a new 125 and was told they wont be making any 125s for a while unless an expensive special order. this was end of january. things might of changed. they will be alright, some one will buy them.
highly doubt they will release a factory replica at this point in the year like they always do, probably later on if they do.
-
personally i believe it was down to the head. too much compression. a couple of guys locally bought new jotagas in 2014. they all had pinking and hot running issues like the sherco factory. all down to the cylinder heads. they where all given low comp heads and sorted it all...
cabestanys cylinder heads not gonna be the same as what you can buy therefore he would not of had these issues. surprised at the time you didnt think of the cylinder head.
and in my opinion rathmells offer great support and have looked after me, and others very well.
