  1. Unless its countersunk, then its the entire length including the head.
  2. Any suggestions on a good glue for sticking the soles on Gaernes ?
  3. Not that I've ridden mine yet, but I'm using a multigrade and planning to keep it changed on a regular basis. I heard that the synthetics don't work well in older engine designs, and I couldn't get any classic at the time. I spoke to the guys on the Silkolene stand at the Dirt Bike show and they recommended Chatsworth 30. Which is about
  4. They aren't all 'lemons' - once you've sorted the stuff that the dealer should have done. Then you'll be happy Give it a few weeks and ride it plenty and you'll change your opinion I'm sure.
  5. Factory Kev's SSDT Top Tips is a good place to start: http://www.trialscentral.com/cms/files/SSD...20checklist.pdf It definitely worth checking that your air box is water tight, split and reseal if necessary. Then there's the GasGASmuseum site, which have published some of the factory technical bulletins: http://www.gasgasmuseum.com/pages/Tech/tech.html Also GasGas US tech pages: http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/Technical/Home.html Also use the Search function here in the GasGas forum, you'll most likely find the answer. Last by no means least have a look at Heath's Tech pages: http://www.r2wtrials.com/html_files/tech.html

    Sherco Nightmare

It got to be worth running the bike up to Darlo, to White Bros - if your not careful you'll have Dabster on your doorstep, with his spanners We'd never here the end of it if he fixed it ! So to save us from a smug Dabster, and if your confident with everything else you have done and you haven't tried a different carb, try it ASAP. May be those good folks up the road (WB) will loan one or will put one on and try it for you. Eurocarb have every spare for the PHBL, as HondaRS says a replacement with the correct jets is about
  7. I think that you'll find a few really bad examples of every marque....however the GasGas may 'apparently' have a few more than the competition. From personal experience, and having 315s for 5 years before owning a Pro, I don't find it that problematic. I read a lot of bad press on this site before I bought the bike, and to be honest I was expecting it to be a pile of poo ! (but it was cheap so what the hell) The reality is that I don't do any more or any less work on it than I did with my Monts. As Marky G says if you keep on top of them they are spot on. I'd definitely buy another one, even a new bike given the finances. I'd suggest that the some of the issue is that some of them leave a dealer, not fully set up, PDI'd and ready to trial. e.g. the lighting kit still on and wiring not simplified, exhaust not siliconed, air box seal not checked, etc - all the known niggles. For the less mechanically adept these things never get fixed, and the owner is disappointed. Those more mechanically orientated will fix them and fine tune the set up - and they'll have a great bike. Back to the first post, you should have taken the bike back to the dealer and told them to sort it. My preference would be to get a UK supplied bike, in the box, build it up using all the documented set up tips, either from here on on the GasGas UK or GasGas US sites. Then I'd know it was right. They are built to a price, but this is also reflected in the price of spares - way cheaper than Montesa
  8. The official GasGas Jan 04 clutch bulletin suggest 9.75mm +0.1. i.e not +/- 0.1. Why didn't they write 9.80mm +/- 0.05 then If I read that correctly then 9.65 is too narrow, you need to be in the 9.75 - 9.85 range. There should be 2 steels and 3 friction plates. Put the steels on the outside when measuring. The same bulletin recommends the ATF Dexron III The bulletin can be found here: http://www.gasgasmuseum.com/PDFs/Clutch/Cl...letin-Jan04.pdf
  9. Am I being totally thick ? But did I just read in the GG PR that they are expecting Jeroni Fajardo to be riding in the points at the Portugal WTC in under 2 weeks time. I know that he's having the leg plated, but its still going to be ****ing painful. Not even my mates in the British Supersport would be up for that kind of turnaround from a break - they just love getting plated (sadly) Is RFME making these riders from some kind of different material to us Brits ? Or are GasGas just getting the Superglue and the Tig welder out. If he does ride and get in the points, then total respect to him. It normally takes me about 6 weeks to recover from a fracture, let alone a clean break.
  10. You could get up anything on that ! If you didn't get up it, it would probably flatten it Who's the importer ? Time to chop the Gasser in me thinks !
  11. I would suggest that the bike belongs to Mika Vesty (it has an Apico sticker on the downtube) Would be on a 04 300 Pro. Does that give me the 'Trainspotter of the Day' Award ???
  12. I noticed in the TMX coverage of the Ibiza IWTC round that you can see that Jeroni is running the in-line thermostat - it doesn't look like a stock picture and the bike has 05 graphics. Q.E.D even the factory have jumped ship, back to the old version. Also I notice he doesn't use the Mag clutch cover, why would that be ?
  13. I had the Jitsie Kevlars on my Mont, they looked the dogs, and were a perfect fit. They snap on as R2 says and that's it leave them to it. If they move then they knacker the fork leg anyway. I threw them at quite a few rocks and trees and they still looked tidy. They don't protect the leading axle, I think only the Skinz protectors do this.

    Ohlin Shock

I'd like to understand how the shock is better to.... Is there more adjustment to tailor it to you weight, riding style ? Is it Smoother, more progressive, does it make sections as smooth as a main road, etc etc I guess I'm trying to find out if its worth
  15. I posted all the spacer widths I could find here: http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3279 I'm not sure if a GG wheel will fit a Mont 4RT, while they both use the same hub it is machined differently, you may/may not be able to sort this out with spacers. Firstly measure the distances from the inside edge of the disc to the inside edge of the sprocket, if these are the same its worth trying the next stage. Measure from the swinging arm to the outside edge of the sprocket on the 4RT wheel, make sure you can accurately check this when you have your GG wheel fitted. Best way to work it out is to fit the GG with no spacers, make sure the disc is centred and then look at the chain line (check the swing arm to sprocket distance) and whether the tyre is running in alignment. If all looks OK, then measure for the spacers that you need. Can you let us know how it goes ?
  16. Don't forget that the wheel spindle links the two fork legs to bind them into one unit that's doing both compression and rebound. If your mudguard stay is bending - is your spindle tight ? The mudguard stay 'does exactly what it says on the tin', it's only made of alloy, if it was to hold the forks in line with each other it would be much more substantial. I think a disc is in the

    Spark Plugs

The manual states a NGK BPR5 ES, so why not use that one ? I've been using the BPR5 EIX with the iridium centre electrode, works well.

    Ohlin Shock

Been looking again at Andy's most excellent photo's of Sheffield, and noticed that Raga's bike doesn't look like it has the Ohlin shock fitted. http://www.trialscentral.com/user_photos/a...es/image146.htm I though that the Ohlin had a gold body and black spring, the shock on this bike looks more like the Sach colouring with the yellow spring. OK so Raga has access to all the factory bits and could quite easily have a yellow spring on the Ohlin, or have a tricked up Sachs. What I'd really like to know is what is the difference in performance between the two shocks available to Joe Public. Is the Ohlin really that much better than the Std one ? in what way is it better.

    Air Box !

I made up the crude non-return valve/flap fitted to the later bikes for my '03. Used a bit of plastic milk container, a strip of alloy and two self tappers. Seems to do the job of keeping the water, from coming in the drain hole, and draining out if it gets in. (Tested in the sink OK) If you look at the parts book you should be able to see the way it works, rode a very wet trial on Friday and the filter was dry at the end of the trial.
  20. I had a look at one today - in Yellow very std looking until you notice the bars and the shock. It also had a 42T rear sprocket ? No 'Racing' model or 'Raga Jnr' or 'Team' decals that would identify it from a std 05 125. I'm surprised that it doesn't stand out like a Raga does, especially as its targeted at the fickle but brand aware youth market. A couple of pounds on some identifying stickers could have set it apart. Maybe its the stealth version that I saw. Nice bike, but I think a marketing opportunity has been missed.
  21. Any one out and about on one of these yet ? Would I notice that its a trick bike - i.e. not a std 125 GG Pro ?
  22. Or better still drop Andy a mail at graffics.co.uk. Make a template of the mudguard shape, the get the registration letters/numbers made to measure ! It may not be legal but looks so professional it will have the boys in blue scratching their heads Beats Perce's felt pen any day Will post a pic later
  23. A N Other Trials website has announced that a deal was reached with Birkettmotorsport and Scorpa yesterday, after TMX went to press.
  24. So what is the deal for those of us who have to wait until tomorrow for TMX ? Or is it just a rumour ?
  25. Used Reading DVLA on three bikes, didn't have a problem. Make sure you but that its exempt from type approval.
