i'm wondring if filing mikuni off the side would be too much effort..

regretably the notion of 'evidence' differs and without dates times places a history cannot be built without that history finding the culprits and then holding them to account is impossible other than relying purely on chance. frustration upon frustration Big john witnesses two folk with thier pants down and niether the bike supplier or the clerk of course can/ will take further action when surely a public declaration of thier names would have resulted in a little peer presure at least..
-
only one way to deal with this and sadly it involves been a bit of a pain. If SNH have identified 'unauthorised useage' 'detected riding in prohibited areas' then they need to be asked ofr the specific details of each incident once the clubs sacu have that detail they can then take positive actions to identify the persons invoilved and late the law take its course.
as long as clubs/ riders groups keep responding as have edinburgh to 'reports of' then absolutely nothing will change,as the individuals involved are not responsible people like you or me.

a couple of points.. you ve fitted new ignition and carb and the bike doesnt run well.. did it foul/ run rich before the mods? if not then you ve a very obvious couple of things to look at. if you ve a clean piston and rings then putting more of the same in will not a make a difference. head would certainly be the thing i'd look at.
pvl is now though easily eclipsed by the electrix ignition and bill beveridge has a simple piston swap that transforms cubs into a smooth as cream power on demand bike when linked to this electrix ign.

fantic 200 no question.. mine cost 800 a year ago on ebay spent maybe 200 since. when i had my previous 240 nikaseal'd and piston it was 200 quid all in and thats the only bike i ve ever had to have done ( bought cheap as piston was scored)

to expand.. each bike has its own acu log book.. you get a registered acu scrutinner to check your bike over note its numbers and take snaps of each side acu send you a log book ( like your licence) you show up at a trial you flash your licence and the bikes log book.. you wont buy a bike without one wont sell a bike without one dont compete without one dont ride a practice site without one.. is that difficult? you buy a knicked bike your knackered you buy a knicked emgine your kanckered you buy a knicked frame your knackered.. stops stolen bikes being used at legitmate sites/ events over night..
-
mistake in my humble opinion.. once you start introducing rules bikes will be built to them.. so with the new rules i can transplant a pro engine into my pampera fiddle with geometry and ride height pedal position and that would be okay?
the sport develops.. no one mentioned outlawing bultacos in 1965 did they no one thought to outlaw soft tyres no one thought to outlaw bikes minus seats..
all the long ride and radonne are is the devlopment of dual sport bikes and thier banning as they are too good is a sad day..
-
to this day i cannot understand why we dont have a trials log book for each bike like they do for rally cars.. you show up to ride present bike to geezer at signing on geezer checks engine and frame number against log book and your on your way.
this immediately removed all the stolen cars from rallying ( there were hundreds..remember how cars like sierra cosworth's, rs 1600i, astra gte etc were impossible to get insurance for)
c mon its got to be worth 20 a year each to fund vis ACU.. or do they accept that stolen vehicles form a percentage of entries?

its a tenner a time at Yarkshire classic and i dont recall ever having to mark my own or anybody elses there. red rose used to struggle to get 10 observers but the introduction of the tenner seems to have sorted it. i have to make excuses not to take my daughters as they ll kill for a tenner. the beauty is as there gurls no body swears, questions them etc and on the plus side they mark everyone the same as they dont know a superstar from an also ran. My youngest is a little to keen to call a five but shes the same for everybody!

i always meet prospective purchasers in the police station car park.. sorts out the chaff.
-
one enterprising lad at yarkshire classic ( he lives in lancashire though..) has a brake on both sides of his cub!
-
the rockshocks are tuff stuff they have the edge as they are rebuildable and the guy really knows his stuff. the others are loads more money and i dont see many if any people using them.
-
best and cheapest in the same sentance not a good mix..
-
if you can change a fork seal you can sort your valve guides out. read the manual well before hand keep it close to hand, clean out the workspace and work methodically use your phone to take photos for reference if needs be. from the manual you chould be able to work out what you might need.
befor eyou start this though make sure you ve done all the easy stuff.. clean plug, carb, air filter, air box make sure carb is set right than start pulling stuff to bits..
-
ebay for the bushes.. cost you pennies.
-
the springs are only a couple of quid whip em in job done.
-
on the issue of clutch's.. how many other applications can you name where it is only used once a week ,when in a 3-4 hour period the engines in fact is only run for half that time and the clutch is constantly slipped / ragged whilst under load for probably 40 minutes ( a minute a section) then the engine is stopped cold water is thrown over it / sprayed and then ignored for the next 6 days.. i think i'd stick too!
-
dont think about it.. if you have the tow bar get a bike rack. getting the bike into the back might physically be possible but how practical is it to get out and put back in once filthy.. what will you do with the fuel in th etank that will spill out what about the oil that will be spilt
not a practical or therotically sensible solution even for a one off.. sorry.
in 20 years the best i ve seen is a bloke who used to take his bike on a sidecar!
-
given the limited use in hours and mileage between engine changes frankly almost any oil will be satisfactory.. I have had since new a 9 yr rev3 and its always had cheapest oil and changed every month. my fantic and francis barnett both have the same oil and one of them is used every weekend.
-
give em a good rattle with a handfull of nuts and bolts, flush out and seal. the rust actually helps the stuff bind to the tank..
-
do not use any throttle when your trying to start it.. kick it 3 or 4 times with the chock on if it wont go do the same agin no choke if not hold throttle WFO and try again..
-
its worth whatever YOU want to pay for it. on any day it should fetch between 700 and 1500.
-
copy and paste this to the dvla.
fantic ceased production in the early 90's and ceased to exist in 1995. subsequently a new business has started using the name fantic the two are not in any way related.
a very similar scenairo to Greeves. as i understand it the business was clled something else but the brand was greeves.. they ceased production way back when and some one has since used the name. the two businesses are not linked.
AVO is another Ford AVO used to produce performance parts for Fords. AVO today produce performance suspension the two are not linked in any way.
tell dvla to go elsewhere and reproduce. petty 'rules' 'processes' 'procedures' made up on the spur count for nothing, always ask for written clarity quoting an acessable reference source before accepting b~~~sh~t like this..
