I recall my old TR64 being very harsh on the rear suspension, no matter what I did it never felt as good as my previous TY250 mono...maybe it was just mine !
Lovey job on the restoration there twinshockdude, I've seen a few on ebay recently that are just crying out to be restored.
-
Very nice indeed, great to see old bikes done up
-
Don't tease us with a couple of pics of the a*** end...wheres the rest of it ?
-
Can someone tell me the logic behind the 'group' series ?
My two local clubs that I've ridden for in the past (South Shrops and Mkt Drayton) never seem to stand a chance when we used to have only about 4~6 riders entered....I can recall 20 + riders riding for Dudley or some of the other clubs in the Midlands.
Its a non starter really..or am I missing the point somewhere ?
-
Mine was fine to hop about on...practice makes perfect the front sus is fine
-
I've got some newish Gaerne, good boots better than the Forma boots they replaced !....only one thing you will need waterproof socks as they seem to leak at the drop of hat (but don't thay all I suppose!)
-
A new 20 year old bike...now that is cool.
If I won the lotto I'd do something like that, but as it is I've got to ride what I've got...
I wonder why the 350 version never made it over to the UK ??
-
Glad to hear the clubs being well supported, our South Shrops club trial attracted 148 riders the other week..must be something in the water !.
I myself think Kinlet is a good venue in the summer but far too muddy for my liking in the winter..rode it a few times in the old Vic Brittian trial.....
I only live 15 mile away but the mud gets me down so I'm off into Mid wales to have some of that great welsh countryside .
-
Good job whats that tank off in the background ?
-
Expected a reply like that lets put it another way then...there not as easy to ride than say a 2stroke ?
RE500, I had my fair share of fourstrokes over the years and next to my old XT500 enduro the Sherco has got to have been one of the hardest to start..the monts do seem to have the edge in this dept....4rt guys seem to just drop there foot on the kickstart and it's going
-
Agree with you Andy, I loved the road trials...far better than the stuff we do now...Vic Brittian...Knighton Two day etc etc great stuff.
If you've never road one you havn't lived I say
-
Having ridden one and watched the Sherco go up muddy sections I disagree with the grip thing...I would hate to own one where there's lots of muddy cambers...far too sharp for my liking
-
Lets just broadcast it over the Internet then !
-
Interesting reading, I've been watching both Montesa and Sherco fourstrokes at recent local events, both seem very snappy..the sherco being more so.
I like the fourbangers BUT, if I'd have paid over 4k for a bike I would want it perfect, not have to be buying clutch plate kits etc etc..surely that must p*** you guys off a bit ?.
And at the end of the day are they any better in the grip dept than say a new Sherco 290 ?
-
Seen a few on ebay recently of you could try these guys http://www.japanbikespares.co.uk/
-
Agree with above comments, I had a shirt conversion, I bought it from a very grumpy shirt snr.....anyways, the brake wasn't as good as the std drum brake.....waste of
-
-
Cheers for the info Glenn, I did see an add for the TYS version, my 125 was a TYS version too...I found the brakes and suspension fine on that model.
As long as it's got the big bore motor I ain't too bothered about suspension spec.
arnoux, I thought the limit was 143cc, any bigger would have to have some major crank case work?
I did here of a famous pre65 rider who was doing alot of work on engine internals of the 125 version, I'll see if I can find out how he got on.
-
maybe we should bring the pros and cons of tyrebeaders into the equation...that would kick it off
-
Cheers Guys, got to get saving for that 175 then
-
James, yes I guess it's all down to cost....the Mont rim does look more expensive to produce than the alternative.
Dabster..a very diplomatic response
-
Or you could just go and buy a new rim tape and clean everything up spotless and pop it on only to find it still leaks I think even John Lamkpkin recommends Sikaflexing.
The rear wheels fitted to GG, Scorpa, Beta, Sherco are all the same with the same poor design flaw.
-
Take the tyre off, Sikaflex both edges of the band and smooth in with your finger, take the valve out and put a little Sikaflex under that and replace.
Leave all this for a day to dry and pop your tyre back on..hey presto job done.
It's the best way to fix this age old problem.
-
Managed to find an test on the 175 here...
-
well done Andy, looks great any chance of you bringing it up to Shrops in the near future ?
