    300 RR Steaming

Stat is fitted to the underside of the radiator near where the exhaust exits the cylinder. The cables are routed between the rad and the frame tube on the ignition side of the engine. The good news is if you look under the headstock above the radiator you should be able to see the thermostat cables. They connect into another set, just bullet connectors. If you disconnect those from the stat and pair the other two you have by passed the stat. Kick it over and the fan should spin immediately, if it does its just the stat that's not working. If that doesn't fix it it's the fan motor or the power to it, could be loose connection. Finally people have had those pressure valves stick closed on various bikes and its popped the head o rings instead. Haven't heard of one letting pressure out too soon but they are only £5 so worth changing.
  2. I think perhaps time may be useful to get people to ride non stop if that's what riders and organisers want ? Ease the severity make the sections longer and reversing or stopping increases the risk of running out of time. It's not traditional trials but it may be a reasonable solution?
  3. It's stop permitted this year with a time limit.
  4. I've been riding trs bikes since early 2017, had a new 17 rr and now have a 19rr. In all that time I've changed one plug. It didn't need changing I just bought a spare in case so fitted the new one and the one I took it is still in my rucksack. As others have said mixture is probably the issue
  5. @peterh if you don't mind the question what do you weigh please ?

    Heavy clutch

What I never understand with the clutch pack measurements is how hard you are supposed to squeeze the vernier guage ? 9.85 mm is the ideal but depending how strong you are and the amount of oil on the plates you can get 0.5mm difference? Difficult to measure without disassembly
  7. @AlanC yes I agree. As a rider I lived the time element of the SSDT and the Scott. It provides some adrenaline when you are late 😄. To be fair to the RFME I think they get more entries as they have more classes but that means you can't complete the day if everyone is balancing in every section, you need an incentive for people to hurry up.
  8. So what happens when you tax it if the paperwork says its a 125 ?
  9. Another attempt at stopping stopping...or at least incentivising riding more quickly.
  10. Casales injury was the day before so nothing to do with the rule change. The rule change was for every 5 mins under the time limit a rider got 1 mark knocked off their score. Time was too long , they extended it by 30 mins for each lap but not sure why. Sections on the easy side so riders quickly worked out if they went round fast enough they would have a 0 score. Gelabert and Busto should actually have had a minus overall score but those two and raga all show zero in the final results. Not sure how they determined the winner.
  11. Looks like that's a no....Will need a 125 for my son in the autumn , anyone had an earlier model 125 ?
  12. We have had some issues with the better carb, not in terms of reliability but I noticed as my son progressed the peaky nature of the power it provides was becoming an issue. I've fitted a richer slide which has helped but it doesn't rev as high as it should in my view. It's a pity about the carb, the rest of the bike is pretty good
  13. Annual ? I do mine once a month
  14. By lowering the ride height in theory you are increasing weight balance to the rear wheel but its marginal. It will not impact on grip when setting off. Tyre pressure and condition is much more important
  15. 10mm is way too much. You will feel that when trying to hop certainly. Just as a guide if I drop the forks through the yokes 5mm I can tell the difference. 10mm at the rear wheel will affect the steering head angle. Are we talking about sag in the shock or play in the linkage?
  16. A few issues with play in the linkage from my point of view but I'm not an engineer ! First of all some play is required for bearings to move. When this is multiplied by the length of the swinging arm yamahas handbook for the air cooled stated this would be 1mm when the bike was new. Play of more than this is due to wear in the actual bearings. The bearing surface being worn will increase friction. The additional play will alter the ride height of the bike. The angles the linkage is working at will also change. Most of us are not good enough to notice these changes in terms of performance but none of the above are good things. I notice it when jumping on and off rocks, you can hear the "Clunk" which is off-putting. I cant see it having a material effect on grip but you could break the linkage or shock if its allowed to go too far.
  17. There are four little tabs to press before it will slide out, I found it a struggle
  18. Did you use the bleed screw on the cylinder head when filling the coolant up ?
  19. Its the soil on forestry land, I think it will do the same to all pads? I galfer red, good performance, last a long time and not too hard that they wear the disc. But I don't ride in forests a lot
  20. Tyres 6psi front 4psi rear Adjust lever clamps so they will rotate in a fall but you don't want them to slip when riding. So make sure you can't force them round with your fingers with your hand round the grip. DO NOT do this with bar clamps, if the bars roll forward you will accidentally wind the throttle on leading to a potentially big accident , twist grip must also be tight. Protective gear: Boots , helmet, gloves, I wear shin pads between top of my boots and my knees. Modern trials pants have knee pads in which are ok but not brilliant. To much protective kit and you will not be able to move properly so its a risk judgement for you to make.
  21. You might get the clutch to release by rocking it back and forward in top gear without starting the engine. I had a Beta Gara years ago and the clutch was pretty poor. Even with new fibre plates and washers under the springs it would slip in 5th and 6th gear. It may just be dragging if its been stood a long time but I wouldn't sand a great deal off the plates as the tolerance seems quite small.
  22. Have you got a link to the page referring to personal imports of sporting goods please. See the other thread on this topic for the price of a carnet....
  23. Try moving needle clip down one notch or fit #3 slide if its pinking, 45 pilot is std.
  24. I didnt realise RG trial had decided to leave the sport, they were helping Billy Green, Frances Moret and Gabriel Marcelli. So where are these three going this year ? Maybe need an 80cc class next to get to 50 entries..... Or make the whole thing electric in 2022 . Bikes not as capable so severity will have to reduce and we would be ahead of other sports from an environmental point of view?

    Linkage Play

If bearing is not a tight fit in the linkage to the extent it can move left to right then I would change that part of the linkage. Id think this will put more strain on the upper rose joint if the lower one is moving left to right. Before long it will have vertical lift I would think. You should be able to twist the shock but the outer bearing surface must be tight in the linkage to work correctly.
