  1. On the gas gas the entry hole for oil in the bearing case on the ignition side is tiny so I doubt anything will get in. It's about 1mm. However I think the drive side is open, is the ossa the same ?
  2. The 250cc plus Gas Gas models went to 40mm Marzocchi forks in 2005, so unless you are talking about Tech forks from the last couple of years, which I think are 39mm, I don't think the GG forks will be any better than the sherco ones you have ? As long as stanchions are ok just change the oil, and seals if they leak, this will make quite a difference to performance. Ohlins are very good, see if you can find a used one, they are serviceable

    Trs Bike Unveiled

You can't take springs out of a diaphragm type clutch to lighten it but you may be able to adjust the clutch plate pack size. Albert Arana reported no problems with his standard bike at the ssdt other than over tightening the rear spindle then damaging the hex head when trying to undo it with the short spanner he was carrying. Certainly reliability looks good
  4. Lian did you solve your problem?
  5. Just to be clear you fell off at 25mph and caught the gear lever ? Something has to give and selector fork is cheaper than a casing or selector drum
  6. I think when I did mine the pack thickness was correct but the finger height wasn't. I don't understand how that can be the case ?
  7. He's been riding Scotland almost since I was born. Mental
  8. Yes I think he's 62. Bit more experience he could be quite good ?
  9. Yes they can depending what oil is used
  10. The plates are under more pressure when fitted than when measured with a vernier or other gauge. Brand new plates will also bed in a little, just taking high points of the fibres could easily make 0.1mm difference.Just been through this process myself and I measured the pack at 9.75mm. However although it didn't slip the clutch wasn't fast enough when trying to jump across stuff. When I took it back out its now less than 9.7mm after one trial.
  11. No but was on the podium 2011
  12. I'm heading up Thursday and was intending to go to the sections at Glen Lyon on the way so some information would be useful. It's a long diversion if it's not being used when we get there.
  13. I'm not bothered about someone with a minder I'm thinking about average Joe in a long distance trial
  14. Before cutting check out the price of a new one
  15. Addict I like that I can tell it to my kids tomorrow
  16. Galfer red , best brake performance and don't wear the discs
  17. On the plus side a Spanish friend of mine has just bought one, he says it's brilliant and is riding it in the ssdt
  18. That's OK in the workshop but you would need to carry something like that to top up if you ever boiled the motor in a trial. Maybe put the hole in the front next year ?
  19. Rubber boot isn't the right term, it's called a diaphragm I think, takes up the free space below the master cylinder cap. Anyway this part will react badly with dot 4 and deform. I changed to dot 4 as I already had a large dot 4 master cylinder. The large cylinder made the clutch action softer. I don't think that the dot 4 made any difference
  20. I converted my 2009 to dot 4. Slave cylinder seals work with dot 4 and mineral. However master cylinder rubber boot and seal kit need to be changed
  21. It was a series of regrettable decisions, the first by Haven to provide it foc. The second by me to show it to others then finally to bet unsuccessfully against my wife.
  22. I've got some clothing for you, very stretchy !
