  1. I think they are meant to be like that from memory, I was puzzled first time I stripped one out 10 years ago but haven't took much notice since. I think a combination of the crankcases and the spindle being pulled up against the other side of the frame is sufficient to stop flex. There's definitely not a spacer to go in there and you have the plastic cup in the right location. I'll check mine tonight for you

I'd start by cleaning the carb, it may just be blocked jets or a damaged hose
  3. Guys why is riding in the river banned and who buy ?

Oil looks like milk shake as soon as it's mixed with coolant so I don't think water pump is leaking. Does this model have a two part cylinder head ? Could be the o ring beneath the spark plug ?
  5. Rotax motors don't seem to rev cleanly but if you can master riding in higher gears it's not really an issue. The torque is incredible and it's almost impossible to stall one
  6. With hindsight Fantic seem to have gone in the wrong direction after the 200 Miranelli motor. The 240 was heavier, the 300 heavier again. Remember being amazed how Steve Robson in the North East could ride his 200 after getting off a 349 Mont. It now looks like Fantic were making there bikes more like the bikes of their competitors when their own product was better for the majority of riders.
  7. Before the minimum weight rule was introduced a foreign magazine tested ragas factory gas gas and Toni's 4rt , the montesa was lighter. Why necessary? Well Raga often isn't that far behind so the bike in standard form must not be competitive at that level. The test I'm talking about was around 2007 / 2008. Everything including the crankcases was different.
  8. Have a look in gas gas thread for state of play in America
  9. From experience France , Sweeden and Germany based on experience of others. Parts of Italy and Spain. I'd be surprised if it was permitted in Switzerland. Not sure if it's allowed in Belgium?
  10. Various euro countries have banned bikes in streams as have the USA. I'm all in favour of fuel injection and electric bikes for this reason. It's individual countries doing this not the EU.
  11. Entry is first come first served so you need to be quick. If you are coming from the states what are you doing about a bike?
  12. Yes great trial. Proper no stop sections single route like ssdt, but a little more laid back in terms of time limits and section severity. It's almost 800 miles from calais. Jus put santigosa trial into Google it should bring up club Web page. Lots of video on YouTube. Entries out around end of feb

Nobody can tell you it will last for two years as they haven't been available that long. However my friend Albert rode one in the ssdt, his only issue was he chewed up the wheel spindle with a badly fitting Allen key. It doesn't mean it's perfect but lots of new bikes don't get round the first SSDT yet go on to be successful.
  14. It's a long time since I rode it but riding the bike is the best thing. You also need a good recovery rate, so after a long section you can still ride quick whilst getting your breath back. Try cycling hills or running for this. Personally cramp in my forearms was always the first area to cause a problem so I used to use the spring triggers you squeeze and also roll your wrists to turn a broom shank with a weight on a string attached. You need to find you weakest areas and focus on them
  15. Do you know anyone else ?

Spent last night riding a 240 SWM. My friend was on his 4rt. Difference in weight in reality is about 30kg. Difference in riding is significant but in part due to much better suspension brakes and clutch on the mont. That rotax motor still produces phenomenal torque though ?
  17. I've quit trials, here are some videos of me riding trials sections on an enduro bike ? I think it's sad our sport loses young riders who clearly still enjoy riding sections
  18. https://www.trialfactory.com/home/1307-botas-alpinestars-tech-t-fluorojo.html Link to new alpinestars, available from 15th August but not cheap!
  19. Jitsie knee / shin Guards are excellent
  20. Most of it written by you probably.
  21. TYZ had a pressure cap like an old fashioned car radiator but didn't have an expansion tank
  22. I became increasingly concerned at the amount of attention I gave his legs ?. You can see why he gets more lift than the rest on the big sections he looks like a tour de France sprinter
  23. Best section I watched on Saturday was number 2 which was a proper uk traditional section and it took lots of marks from the top boys. Only Dibs and Bou cleaned on lap one. A couple more like that would have been good but really enjoyed the event.
  24. Most of the sections had some part which was very big, you either get up those obstacles or you dont hence lots of fives
