You better have a friend or buy a second bike. (Best way to diagnose a complicated machine is spare parts) The 4RT is the best FI trials machine. Go drop it in 4 feet of water and then tell us how great it is. Or just check out the Montesa section for a good dose of reality. Honestly it is a great bike, but until 2 strokes no longer exist not for me.
I am surprised how easily a country like the UK easily accepts that the world round is down to 2 loops. It has been 3 loops forever. It was hard enough with a 3 loop trials to get to the GOOD sections. Also any large event should be a full 2 days of competition.
Yes. I have push stated on for weeks before. Just hot wired it on and pushed started and it would run all day. Just had to remember after every stop to spin it. But every pro is different in there Prooblems.
If it makes you feel better it seems like all the models plastic caps sucked this year. The Beta had the thread problem. At our Nationals this summer the 2018 Sherco`s and Scorpa`s one way valves were sticking. My son had the same issue with his 2018 TRRS 300 at a long distance event. He found he had to remove his gas cap before he rode a section. That evening he fixed his cap too. Makes you think nobody ever tests the finished product.
No my son did not make the trip as he just started school. He would of rode Expert Sportsman. 11 and 12 were both fun sections. I loved the riding the area. Thanks again for scoring!
If you found no bits like this, then it probably happened before you bought it. The Pro transmission is well known for many problems. Sh-- happens, but put it back together and enjoy it. For as all it`s problems they are a great bike while running.
This was a typical problem on the `04`s. Usually not on the newer models. You need to check the shaft, idler gear and the bearing on the other end of the shaft. Saw my friend do it right at the starting minute of a National. Luckily the Gas Gas importer was in line behind him. Forty minutes later he was back in the event.
I guess you have never scratched your nose while at high speed? You have never seen the magnet remove itself from a hard hit into an obstacle? You have never seen a thorn kill the bike and the rider crashes from a sudden stop? Said device does not work properly and there is no other kill switch on the bike to turn off a high rpm motor. These things all have happened many times. Also if you lose the magnet (A bush grabs the tether and it takes off like a missile into no mans land) you now have a non running 150lb Strider.
Tell me of another moto sport that uses this cheap device.
The League. A traveling TY80 Team. And they make alot of vintage riders upset.
They have a better pit than most modern Teams. Ha! Ha!
