  1. I could only tell you while I am doing it. Same in and out. At least you are doing the oil change correctly.
  2. When the TM400 was new, I used to spend my days riding quite a bit. Say over 40 hours a week. I normally practiced solo. To entertain myself we had several very hard hill climbs close by. Nothing better than to wheelie all the way to the tops of these hills on my slow 250. Then I would sit and watch the guys on the overpowered wonders crash all over the hillsides. After they had worn themselves out I would ride up to the top not on any trail and they would usually just shake there heads and go home.
  3. I clearly remember the muffler sticks out about 15mm more than the std.

    2018 EC models

2018`s? Gas Gas still do not have the parts manuals for most of the 17`s!
  5. Besides the suspension the CDI, Stator and crankshaft assembly is different. Feels awesome in the parking lot. The bike is just too much for 95% of the riders. In a real trials is where you get in trouble. Just out playing it`s a blast.
  6. I would just tap the left case hole for a bolt to hold the oil in. Just remove the clutch cover to change the oil. Do this until you need to split the cases.
  7. Not a 300 Raga, there is a difference.
  8. Two things. you never spray carb cleaner in a bike carb.( I know every one does it) So look at the gasket of the needle and seat. It will swell three times the size with carb cleaner. Also you have never shown your vent hoses. ps I only use contact cleaner on my bikes.
  9. Just pointing out the obvious that a replica is not a good choice for a novice. We just had a guy in our club ask the same question yesterday to me for the exact year. Funny thing is he lives just down the road and should have asked before rhe purchase. In fact I am still at yesterdays trials site and just pulled my loop.Maybe too much sun.
  10. The clutch is hard because the finger hieght is incorrect.
  11. Yeah newbie giving newbie advice.
  12. Does it start? If it does just ride around with the ckutch pulled in till it realeases. Other wise pull the clutch plates out and see what is wrong.
  13. 9 tooth and learn to shift to the appropiate gear for the obstacle is how real trials works. In novice having a low first gear will give you a chance to learn how the clutch works.
  14. Real world travel is 140mm on the factor rear.. Sag is not mandatory, but too much means a new spring is needed. Weight has everything to do with it and in trials having the front and rear working in unison is what is needed.
  15. 9 tooth sprocket, flywheel weight. Ideally you would bite the bullet and put a 250 top end on it.
  16. Or throw that project in a corner and come to the Red Rock MX track in Gallup, NM. Start time is 9am Sunday. Nice short 5 mile loop, should be lots of fun since I am the TM.
  17. That engine is not a good motor to rob from. Bad shift drum, shift shaft and clutch. What yeat bike ate you fixing Billy?
  18. Dealers almost always tell there customers they can get it. Sherco has quit making skid plates for 2009 and later models. A guy that needed one was telling me another dealer was going to hook him up. I laughed when he came back and told me it was back odered. He about cried when I informed him the backorder story was a lie.
  19. The last time I let someone work on my own bike under warranty was in 1975 when I was sponsored and it was there bike. Far easier to spend the thirty bucks, have it mailed to your kome and fix it yourself. That is the way to learn about your bike. Besides in the USA it comes as a race bike. No warranty.
  20. The 4RT clutch has never been good. But what you are describing sounds more like the seal is bad in the M/C. Get a rebuild kit And pull apart. Check the seal for damage clean out the bore and replace. This happens far too often. Ps. Also you need to maintain enough free play in the piston travel to let it work.
  21. That was why I put off getting another Beta so long. Trials is small and if I can't get a hold of enough info I will buy something else. With a Gasser not havaing a strong distributior would be hard as often as they break.
  22. You need 6 lighter springs than stock.
  23. Beta or Sherco. Both have great support. Montesa is a good bike, but few dealers are into the trials market. Myself it`s Beta and Team New Mexico pits this year were 80% Beta.
  24. Keep it hot wired until you figure it out. When the fan starts going bad it can be intermittent. Give it a push start with a finger.
  25. As far as cost it`s years they have too many left over. So late summer/fall. But you should wait to see what the new models have changed. All the bikes seem pretty damn good this year, so no real reason to wait.
