  1. Wayne, I doubt yours is seated in fully as you could probably figure about 5 times round the loop plus the 15 min I put on it putting round. Maybe 5 hours runtime ? Usually noone LETS me ride anything, better to ask forgivness than permission! Just go! Ryan does'nt care, he needs to sell fenders and has my CC on file! Brad thinks I just fell off the turnip truck when I tell him things like your front brake needing attention, and he walks over and it is there working. He asked if I already had it diagnosed, so I looked at him and replied, yes, pretty much! Oh well! I'll let him catch hell from you! I wanted to get a ride on Caby's bike, but seems every time I had a chance Louis was doing maintenance. I did notice the float bowl extension on one of them, cannot recall, and Caby was running a different forks set, still Paioli, but lighter according to him. Different top caps adjusters and lower legs for sure. But not larger diameter ali tubes like the Gassers. Caby said that he doubted we would see them on a production bike though. Did not even think about riding Cody's, it was just sitting there! Ron said he rode it! Just made him want that big bore kit for the Beta even more! Yet alas, late in the day there are other things that must be done, such as margaritas, so I typically stick to the matters at hand and refrain from riding! Such a busy time! Yet, I could always try another Beta, Dougs was locked up when I went to visit, oh well!
  2. Arent you about due for a new one of them things? Anyway? The new style? Awe , surely they can match the paint? maybe?

He he!!!!!! Wot I thought you would say! And very true! Really nice shots there matey, you really should pick a few favs to post as a collection, specially considering the good weather! Cheers,
  4. Wayne, I think what Marlintec is saying here is that due to the larger displacement and resulting higher manifold vacumes at low speed, the motor can actually suck more fuel(and air) through smaller jets and passages. I think he knows quite a bit about these things from prior experience. Not sure if he has found a new one to play with. The 3.2 with the Kiehin is quite powerful, a lot of difference on the low end as compared to my distant memory of the '05 bike with the 26mm dellorto. The big question in my mind is if anyone has experimented with a copy like the OKO in a 24-26mm range as to maybe settle the bike down a bit? I hear these things are available, near exact copy! Not unlike a 2.9 in stock settings, I am not sure the 3.2 does not simply have too much power for me! I suppose you could sleve one down to a 250-270 range? I understand why Caby likes it, it is a Bad Ass!
  5. Do you need an EXTRA sixe XXL, TDN USA t-shirt while you are at it?

Donald, were you not afraid Doug would run over you?
  7. More good points! As per Neon, yes, it did come with a graphics card, no no dog here, as it does seem to run quite well considering! I came home today to find hew wacking away at it, maybe with a bit of homework in between, the typical stuff these kids doo now, myspace, facebook! Nuts! The lot! I did get a chanch to download the Open Office software just to ck it out today. My brief opening of each application seemed to indicate that most everything is there, yet somewhat sparse by intention. Seems to be a broad file format list of compatability. Not quit sure about about the need for .NET integration comment by Neon, but doubt that is an issue. As there may well be some offerings for students as per Tt5th, so I may well wait! The Home and Student edition of Office is $175 in the stores, and a view of the comparison card in the store showed no difference between MSO standard other than the lack of Outlook, which I consider to be a blessing and a curse, and could live without! As I run Outlook for no other reason than to back up old e-mails for referance and deal with those pain in the butt"contact us" things. I can see where saving as PDF could be advantagious on '07, One does have to change with the times, it WILL happen! The kids learn quickly! Friggin nuts!
  8. Charlie, I love you man, but if i'm driving 185miles, I am headin' to Austin, not Philly! For the Country and Blues, and Eric Johnson type jazz! I am spoiled! Sorry, I just gave your first bad review, I appologize, Peace, Love, Dove and all that other ****
  9. "It's a TRACTOR" Yes it is! Makes me wonder about the setup on the carbs? As the (what i would consider) low speed ideal range for the airscrew on a typical jap carb is probably 1/2- 1 1/2 turn range. But if you go much larger on the pilot, say a 50, is it going to screw things up or turn it into a monster on the bottom? Are they intentionally running them a bit lean for a reason? Lean of stoich = smoother power? As an obscure example, my '07 2T came with a #30 pilot, would not lift the front wheel! A change to a #33 brought the power back, but still a bit lean, so a change to a 35 and then a current 36 was needed to keep down pings and stuff, and I think Ryan said many are running a 38, although I still seem to like a little leaner for smoothness. I am sure much has been done with this development, yet we have no info! I have other ideas too, yet all experimental, lets see if Chris can chime in on what jetting he is running!
  10. Just a couple of thoughts, Be sure you are using the 98 RON gas, and use a good full or semi-synthic oil at 80:1 Clean your carb and find out what jets you have, I think a 33/120 combo would be a good start, needle in 3rd groove up. One general way to find out just how gunked up the exhaust is, is to do bout a half dozen "drag" races at WOT through the gears on some old dirt road. This should burn off some gunk and get some heat in the pipe! Usually smoke like hell! You can re pack the muff on that one too if need be! Mind you, if it is tits up to begin with, you could blow it up, yet I doubt it. Little to loose by trying above, Cheers,
  11. Some good thoughts there, guys! And although I am somewhat behind the curve now(as I had built many of my own since the 286), I'm still more of a hardware/ compared to software fellow. Knoe naut about lappies! But I think I found her a decent thingie at a reasonable cost(not made of money either)! Wot she wanted was a pink Dell 17" lunker because of the 10key and the color! Got somewhat costly when reasonably equipped, and bulky! So, in a more practicle sense, I think I got a pretty good deal on a much smaller unit, an HP 14.1 widescreen running an AMD dual core processor at 2.1g, and with 3g of ram and a dual layer DVD burner with lightscribe. Has all the other crap too, including webcam, all for $600,(i like the built in card reader for sd) and weighs about 5lb. Tolerable! Unfortunately it is black, and she almost cried when I gave it to her today, untill she turned it on, then she got better, I think she just wants a pink backpack now? Oh, I did give her a pink wireless mouse to go with it, and as I understand her presumed need for a 10key pad, I think you can get them? Came with the Vista, of course, which I still have to ck to be sure has the SP1! Oh well, the first deed is done! On the software side, this is another issue with the thing! She says she needs the 'full meal deal', meaning Word, Excel and Powerpoint at a minimum, for her university studies in marine science and marine biology, which will hopefully lead to something? I personally have never needed more than my old version ov Works with Word, never needed to create a PPS file! Only sent them on to (close) friends! Don't ask! More later! Cheers!
  12. You could be a bit lean on the jetting as well, as they go lean when you chop the throttle!!!
  13. Hey, it's all in the (RYP) family now Darrell, nice bike, I always liked the suspension, but the bike feels big for my small frame! Probably fits Ish quite well, as he is a tall fellow as I recall. Even comes with a Sherco tip on the pipe now! WooWoo!
  14. As luck would have, I got appointed today to take a family outing, daughters b-day, so anyway, we all had to go watch this chic flic called Made of Honour. Much was shot in Scotland, and I just cannot get over some of the scenery, I think some of those mountains are larger than I ever thought! Seems by coincidence, there is this bloke in the movie(Colin) that resembles the Andy! Seems his middle name was Athole(sp)! Just gave me a chuckle!
  15. e must have "blown a seal" on the special! Speaking of all that, the spindly framed Raga?
  16. So is Ish doing the series(both)? Did you say you got a 2.5?

    Great Job!

On the pics and Videos specially! Best to you lot! Cannot fathom doing that in the pouring rain, let alone on 5 points when dry~!
  18. Well, I want to inquire again with the local geeks if they are running it? Seems the SP1 is out and all. And the ones selling it say everything is ok? With few exceptions, everything has it anyway, but I understand some manufacturers are offering retro disks for XP? Long story short, I gotta buy a lappie for the daughter. Hell, I don't even have a lappie! I have this old P4 1.4G, 256meg in the shed!
  19. I have seen some run the lighter flywheel, turned down about 5-6mm i think, to reduce the weight by about 1 pound. This does not cost a lot if you find a good machinist, but may not be for everyone. The j-peg half back pegs from RYP seem to be the ones of choice for the ones like Smage, me too!
  20. You turn the plate "counter" on the Sherco left side ignition to retard it! As all 2T's and 4T's are common in that the initial timing is set before TDC to some degree, they can all kick back, specially with w/limp boot! A good follow through is best, after you get them moving quickly. This also effects the motor ability to chug down low, as at some point the flywheel cannot carry through to offset the motors drive to turn the other direction, and it will stall. All I can say is that mine, once set back a bit, will at normal idle chug along in gear with no throttle, and even chug up the slight incline of my drive up. As with anything, it is a tradeoff for top performance, as your average expert may find that setting too slow on response and down on power. It seems to take about at least a 2mm change on the plate to make to make much of a "seat of the pants" change as well. And form that, you juse need to find your "sweet spot"! That is all I can tell you.
  21. Gawd Atom, really! That car is smart enough to allow you to selectively drop some ESP and BAS functions just to let you have a little fun anyway! You may be too old now to appreciate "drifting", but you are old enough to have witnessed a few "Dukes of Hazard' re-runs are you not? In a way, I cannot stand the fact that the computers actually take over the throttle and brakes! The 6.1 Hemi runs really well, and as I understand the first batch will all be the SRT versions with it! The big thing with these cars is keeping them in very expensive tires and Brimbo brakes! They can expense you very well! I am pretty sure that before long we will see a less expensive version with the standard Hemi(family car), and so on, small motors like the Chargers. Speaking of which, FYI, the very first car I ever drove was the old man's '67 Charger 440 Mag! Black on Red! Beauty! It WOULD tap out the 150mph speedo! On bias ply tires and no brakes! Scarey when I think of it! I was about 10 yr at the time, we lived on dirt roads, it was FUN! Dad bout shat himself first time I punched it round a corner! The friggin thing just roared and begged for more! Alas, my childhood! Cried when that car went! I wanted it! You should see the prices on them today! As with many other things, we all survived todays standards!

    '08 4t Sherco

Slow steady kicks too, which lets the valve thingie work! Not sure exactly how it works on the Sherco, but I did get to closly examine one on a CRF250 honda recently. Basically just a spring loaded flyweight on the cam which is connected to the valve lobe by a shaft. Oh well!
