  1. Welcome, Get yourself the highest RON you can find and some high quality full synthetic 2T premix oil. Mix at 80:1 and you will be fine. Many seem to use Castrol TTS as it seems readily available over there. There are many other brands available. Get yoursel to the Sherco threads and you will find a pinned thread at the top that will lead you to manuals and other info on the Sherco site, or post up for other links on the US side. Cheers,

    Sherco X-Ride

Brian, You gotta keep us posted how that thing gets on! Doug, How did you feel about the 290? I did not get a chance to ride the '12 bike yet or the '13. How does it compare with your pussycat bike! I kinda want another pussycat bike! Yet scarce!

Does this thing look cool or what? It could be just the answer to what many have asked for. A flexable bike good for long distance trials, trails and single track that is not an overweight ill handling pig in the dirt like my Serow. Road legal and ready for short jaunts too! Listed at 204lbs, I can easily spot enough extras to get it below 200!
  4. Opinion not far from mine. Although many may feel sorry for Michael, his surrogate has done the job on his behalf. You know what? Our jobs as observers is to hand out points according to the rules. If we did not there would be no competition. The slack off here and there and not wanting to create issues thing have led to a lax attitude by many over time. In reality it should not require the COC to make this call, as the observer should just do it! Get the he-- out of my section! You do not belong here! It is difficult enough to monitor riders, yhis is why the rules are set as they are, too much interferance from minders and others. Paving! Yes! Prior to this rule it was an absolute clusterf--- when it was time for riders to come round. It is difficult enough for observers to live within the rules, some things are simply subjective, others not. This is not Dad minding for his lad here on the boys line.
  5. Thanks for the link and the ads section in it. I found a place in Dallas I can rent a Kilt should I decide to let things air out a bit! Wonder what they would think if IO returned it after a trial? http://minskytux.com/kilt/index.htm
  6. Andy, you want to tell, or should I?
  7. If you are in UK, try Splatshop!
  8. This rule was put in place for a good reason. I have observed enough trials on a National and also WTC level to know. What it really means is keep your a-se out. Sorry, that means anyone not riding, then POSSIBLY there may be a bit more controlled setting which is set the way it is for a reason in many cases. A bit more enforcement and those involved may well think twice! Sorry bout your luck, thanks for playing!
  9. Heavy springs for these are like unobtanium, do not worry! You should be fine, although you may have a bit more load(race)sag than suggested. Set the static sag(weight of bike on wheels) as 10-20mm so you have a little float there and you should be fine. There are many better riders much heavier than you on stock springs.
  10. The guide on the Sherco site states 0.10mm intake clearance and 0.15mm exhaust, (Note not in .001 in. increments) Very close clearances. No idea about the tensioner. I would presume it is a spring loaded device, possibly with a lock down bolt?
  11. I think it would be logical to expect some normal expansion of the air in the gearbox as the motor warms, yet that should stabilize. A constant unexplained stream, or pressure against the tounge would suggest a problem I would think. Other than seals there have been no reported problems that I recall.
  12. The first will just load the spring more, which you prolly do not need, the later will slow the return or rebound, which you may not want as most seem to run them on the lesser end, but you can play with it to find your happy place.
  13. He's on sildenafil citrate and doing it like a mutt, thus the bad knees!
  14. My experience with these things suggests that even with all things perfect(from new) they may spat a bit if run hard. They find their level. One wants to tip the bike at a 45 angle to get all the old oil out when draining or the addition of 450 ml of fresh oil may be too much and it will spat the excess. There is a bit of test that one may do to hopefully insure the crank seal on the clutch side is sealing. The trans vent tube should allow normal atmospheric pressure to the gearbox, if you submerse the end of the hose in a cup of water and it is making bubbles, then something is pressurizing the gearbox side of things. Carefull with this, as a crank seal can just as easily suck water in as blow out, so clear hose is preferred. If it is leaving puddles, something is odd. Another thing I have allways done is route the vent tube up over the carb, then down to the skidplate. This means vent oil runs back in, And water (due to shock cooling) must run up before entering motor. Cheers, MC
  15. I would think a properly working fan motor with a decent power supply(not the charger) should have a good buzz to it. Possibly the overvoltage(no regulator) has overstressed the motor over time and it is sluggish. Thoughts anyway, Cheers, MC
  16. Yea, that looks like a bit of fun for an ADD person like myself. Bit of overkill prolly with a 35A rating and a 2A fan, but it works!!!! Now all you need to do is solder the connections, pot it in epoxy for waterproofing, and mount it properly! Ha! Cheers, MC
  17. Does your DVOM not have a ammeter function that you can put it in series with a battery supply voltage to properly test it dynamically? If the thing runs at normal speed at 12V it should be fine.
  18. Ant thus the resulting question: Which edge is more important really? It seems logical that surface area would relate to grip on acceleration?
  19. I would venture to guess the small fan motor would run at 2-4 amps, so may be to much for your small charger whis is not really designed to run things like that anyway. If your regulator was disconnected this may explain things due to over voltage. Fix that and ck to see the fan runs normally under proper voltage.
  20. 270's had a pop from new!
  21. Leaky crankshsft seal. Pressurizes the gearbox. The Viton seals provided by Splatshop are recco. as they are better at resisting the alcohol induced fuels. Both sides may be replaced without splitting cases
  22. Did you remember to turn on the petcock?
  23. There is a Florida Trials Association, btw. They run varius events includint the Fun in the Sun, typacally. Not quite sure how to get you in toutch. One of the top US riders lives in FL. Riders in GA as well.
