  1. Goto a trial and try on several of your bud's helmets before they ride and get them all wet, they are all different, but buy one with a removable liner.
  2. I have had both acl's replaced this year and I train hard and want to rely on muscle strength only, but I can't I've worn a donjoy on my right leg for years. I'm getting both legs fitted for new ones and I won't rely on the braces but they will be on all the same until I feel 110% . Thanks Bill for the comment about ham curls, should I back off of them or just quit them,I do squats? My email is pjbolen@yahoo.com
  3. Donjoy all the way, but I would wait until your leg was strong enough to squat on it by its self. Had acls replaced in both knees this year, right one in January left one in September I won't ride until August, I want them to work.
  4. Oil filter spray is a must and the filter cleaner, it dissolves that sticky oil real good. And Nigel is right have 2 filters and your ready for the next day.
  5. I don't know your weight but I'm 220lbs and I had to put a stiffer spring on my ohlins, and now it is perfect.
  6. Clutch always front brake not on steps or up hills don't want to brake going up a step, splatters I'm to old to splatter.
  7. I live in the flatlands so I need a high octane fuel, but when I go up in the mountains I use pump gas.
  8. 80 to 1 any more oil than that, your old smoking bike is giving me a headache, and just pick a good oil that you can buy all the time and stick with it there all about the same. I have used Honda hr2 for 20years its a good non-carbing oil.
  9. Most new trials riders make the mistake of stiffing up the suspension like their Endro or mx bikes. I would for starters tighten it up so you can go off small steps and not hit bottom. People ask me all the time why can't I steer the rear wheel or hop the front end and the answer is your suspension is to hard.
  10. A friends '86 Yamaha 350 went up like a camp fire.
  11. For gloves I like Fox dirt paws, and pants bmx pants are light and as good as any. My Hebo gear feels good its just my package stands out a bit and you can feel the wind blow. Just because my buds wanted to see me in a 1 piece I would never do it. Please leave the 1 piece to the young ladies and the good riders.
  12. Find someone that does it all the time and pay to have it done.
  13. He wired the fan to be on all the time because the thermostat don't work, replace it or wire for the fan to come on all the time.

    Help Needed

Most people that don't like RAGA's lack throttle control because they are quick to say the lest. I love mine and its stock except for the 10 tooth counter sprocket, but I ride aggressive for a SR. Expert. If I was you I would look at the slow throttle, fly wheel weight and the 10 tooth sprocket.
  15. Hey CMAN, There was a National there in 1990 and it was a hot Mother, I had a heat stroke there, but the rocks were great very grippe. I climbed a 7ft. steep by accident I hit it thinking I would fall of but I just keep climbing.
  16. A lot of people don't need it, some do. I tore my acl 20 years ago in mx and I have worn a knee brace since. I had to quit moto but trials has kept me riding.
  17. I always used atf and its about 7wt. Big John is right about adding a little more oil to adjust the stiffness of your forks just not to much or you will blow your seals. If this don't work I would get stiffer spring, or make some find an old yz 80 and cutt down the spring to fit.
  18. Front took 6mo. back took about a year, on an '86 Yamaha.
  19. The disc floats so that when you hit the brakes they are there, if they didn't the disc would push back the shoes and you would have to pump up the brakes before you could stop.
  20. A tire will never set when you need it now, its the nature of the rubber beast!
  21. Get a Xispa then you could be the first to have all the new problems, just kidding ,hard to choose junk or junk.
  22. I would buy a Japanese master cylinder.
  23. Yes your fuel has a lot to do with it. I've ran 112 octane mixed with 89 octane 50/50 for years and had no problem. Some nut told me that the 101 unleaded would give me more pop off the bottom, well it did but the wrong kind it ran like crap the next event.
  24. I'm 6ft. tall and I have 4 in. rise bars and a 3/8in. spacer. You can get taller bars or just get a 1 in. spacer and some longer bolts.
