Put a new Reynolds Primary Chain on my B40 (first one in years, old one didn't seem stretched, but better safe than sorry) question is, do they stretch initially and need re-tensioned, or is this not generally a problem ? When fitting it there were dire warnings about using a conventional link rather than endless. The old chain had a link and was never a problem, any views ? Where can I get a tool to put chain links in, every cycle chain breaker has this facility,but I've never seen one for larger chains. Thanks Ross

If it rusts it will be a liner, if there are any shiny flaky bits its crome and probably due fora re-line. I use a dremel type thing to get rid of the lip, makes it easier to get the shoes back in.

The nut is usually captive, ie fixed to the fame and does'nt need to be held.
