If it rusts it will be a liner, if there are any shiny flaky bits its crome and probably due fora re-line.
I use a dremel type thing to get rid of the lip, makes it easier to get the shoes back in.

The nut is usually captive, ie fixed to the fame and does'nt need to be held.

Coures its a trials bike, can you not tell by the straight thro exhausts and fitted tyres !

Again, dont think it would be a problem.
But you might fancy a crack at the pre-65 in the future, so dont limit yourself.
