  1. There always seems to be a lot of dellorto phbh 26's on ebay, they are popular with the vespa/lambretta boys and its easy to get all the jets and slides.
  2. If they had said that, i would have read between the lines that the bike was unrideable!!
  3. Could you strip the rest of the paint and have a "natural" finish, or polished?
  4. Birkett must be annoyed, the factory turning down all that publicity. Either its gross incompetence by the factory, or there is something seriously amiss!
  5. Another option to consider is the transit connect LWB, similar size to the pug/citroen dispatch. I've had a couple over the last few years. Positives: Good reliability, get at least 2 bikes in (with safety cage installed), 90HP engine decent power. Negatives: Average fuel consumption (no more then 40MPG), uncomfortable seats, Ford often have difficulty getting parts for some reason!
  6. What is this "sun" you speak of?
  7. Good to see you've given up on a 4 stroke scorpa, however a 290 sherco isn't the best bike to get if you're a beginner. Maybe this isn't what you want to hear but if you search the forum postings the same bikes always get recommended for learning on, i.e Montesa 315 (250cc), Scorpa 250 (2 stroke), Beta rev3 250, or any 200cc 2 stroke if you can get one. I have a sherco 2.9 and its a great bike, but i really wouldnt recommend it to a beginner.
  8. What is worse though, A. A clean chain with very little lube on it? (WD40) B. A well lubed chain with mud/grit sticking to it with every turn of the wheel forming a nice paste? C. Another option...... Discuss.
  9. Which part of the frame is bent? Is the chrome too badly damaged that you have to have it powdercoated?
  10. IMPORTER Ring the importer, Nigel Birkett.
  11. What year was Takumi Narita world champion?
  12. Wow! top notch SWM there! Are the forks Gas Gas? Also, i notice you have put the rear brake lever on the outside of the frame, is it a different lever?
  13. Which area do you want to improve?
  14. Would love to see some more of the top world riders at the SSDT, but the event is so different to what Raga/Bou/Fajardo usually ride, could they adapt quickly enough to take the win? Personally i don't think so, but it would be very intersting to find out!
  15. Zona Trial Hope this works. Click on "outdoor" then its about 5 pages in.
  16. Pick the one which feels best when you test ride it.
  17. Yes, as above you want a 250 or preferably a 200 if you can find one. I have a 290 and its great when you're fresh but after a while you start & get a bit tired & the thing starts going where IT wants!
  18. Why guess when you can go & get the bore measured? This is the most important part of the engine!
  19. Walk away, plenty of others to choose from.
  20. Have a look under those fork protector thingies, could be all sorts of crap under there.

    Spacers

It is common for the sump guard to "straighten out" a bit, when you come to put it back on it seems like the holes are quite a way off lining up. It's very difficult to bend the guard back to its original shape, it may be that a previous owner has made the spacers to make refitting the guard easier.

    Spacers

The 2 aprilias i had didn't have any spacers on the sump guard, and i got both these bikes new.
  23. I put them on dry using the compressed air method, then wire on.
