Personally i wouldn't worry too much about the differing parts cost between brands as trials bikes really don't need the volume of parts or maintenance compared to any other form of motorcycle sport. I would choose the bike which suits you best after you have ridden them all.

If it were a Beta or Sherco i would say its the stator, unusual for a gas gas, but certainly possible, can't be blocked fuel hose if the spark disappears.

You mention an "upgraded" stator, as far as i know there is no such thing. I have an 05 sherco 290, the stator failed and splatshop supplied a replacement, there is no upgraded version, it was exactly the same as the one that failed, this will probably fail too at some point in the future.

If the bike has had a new stator at some point, that doesn't mean that it can't fail again, some poeple have had several!

I have found a better way to find very slow leaks is to mix up some fairy liquid & water in a spray bottle, spray all over the tyre, rim & spoke nipples then go off for cup of tea. Afterwards you should see a cluster of bubbles where the leak is. It is quite hard to spot a small leak using a bath of water.

It depends on the trial, could mean youth A & B classes. Which trial are you looking at?

Maybe try posting on a trail bike forum (TBM may be useful) Not sure how many people on here ride trail/enduro?
