OK, i'll make a generalisation here.
Usually, trials bikes with air cooled engines were recommended to run at around 50:1 by the manufacturers, this was using mineral 2 stroke oil.
These days, superior fully synthetic oil is easily available and cheap, personally i like to use fully synthetic oil at about 65:1 on air cooled engines.
I have used shell advance, and putoline synthetic oil in my air cooled engines for many years with no problems.

Why do you want to rev the bike out when it isn't warmed up?
This is one of the worst things you can do to an engine.
-
-
Proper tyre soap always helps.
-
post a pic up, or tell us your frame number.
-
I have an '05 sherco & its no problem to stand it on the front wheel.
It's all about technique, sounds like you need to get practising.
-
Is the preload on the rear shock too high?
This would make the head angle steeper.
-
You need to use proper tyre soap when fitting a tubeless tyre, things like WD40 & silicone spray can turn into a sort of slime which helps the tyre slip off the rim later on.
-
Hmmm, that fleet of TLM's will be worth something now!
-
I don't think many people would have given much thought to the actual foot placement, you just ride your bike & your feet find their own place on the rests if this makes sense.
-
Nothing wrong with the kickstart on the TLR's if you're doing it right, don't need a huge great jump on the lever, just a steady, smooth push right from the top of the lever stroke (to enable the valve lifter to open)
Mines lasted 25 years so far on the 250.

Is the decompressor working?
-
You bought a gas gas pro 280 to learn on...........
There's your problem right there.
-
Do you mean clutch/gearbox oil or hydraulic clutch fluid?
-
Don't think Aprilia had anything to do with Hiro,(except for using their engines for a while) but i saw a few hiro parts on italian ebay, so maybe worth a look there.
-
Alternatively, a huge great numb lump like a TYZ may put you off a bit (it put me off when i tried one)
Why handicap yourself with an old bike when you can pick up something like a Montesa 315 with its user-friendly power, light clutch, good brakes & decent suspension for very little money these days.
-
When i did a few enduro races, quite a few people warned me off those type of handguards as there had been a few broken arms caused by hands slipping off the grips & going through the gap in a crash.
Sounds nasty, just something to bear in mind.

Any more protective gear will be really uncomfortable during a trial, especially if its hot.
Theres a reason why nobody uses it.
-
Just watched mine, brilliant!
Was reaching for the mute button at first to get rid of the cheesy music, but things improved later and the volume wasn't quite loud enough to interfere with the sound of the bikes.
Top notch production, recommended!
-
I have a 250 and have tried the manual and auto decompressor.
I have to say the auto set up is much better, starting is easy and consistent.
-
I would put an in-line one on anyway, 2 minute job and costs next to nothing.
-
What oil are you using to feed the leather?
-
-
How do you work that out?
