"whacking the throttle" on a TLR will result in a hesitation/cough/stall so try not to do it.
Also using a higher idle speed helps alot, though yours does sound something else isn't quite right there.
-
I've got a pair of gaernes, but the boots are actually quite a bit shorter than the alpinestars i had before them, so i'd say the alpinestars would offer more shin protection.
-
2 STROKE CHART
This one goes up to the sort of ratios trials bikes use.
-
Seriously though, what does the rekluse clutch allow you to do?, i know they're fairly popular with some enduro/trail riders but what are the advantages over a standard set-up?
-
Your name is Iain, you called the Rekluse guy "the Rekluse guy"!
Are you drunk?
-
Block the exhaust with your boot, not your hand.
I think pulling the fuel line off will create more serious problems, i.e. possible fireball consequences!
-
So the rekluse guy wants to know what engine is in a 2005 beta rev3 200?
I would say its a 2005 Beta rev3 200.
-
I'm still conducting long-term testing of the '05!
-
Hi Martin, do you have any more details on the ignition kit for the rotax?
I would love to ditch the points setup & we tried an electronic ignition a few years ago which ended up with some very strange power delivery issues!
P.S. Your PM inbox is full!
-
No, but it could have ended up that way had i continued riding as the oil had gummed up everything it had come into contact with internally.
A real mess actually, gas gas dealer shook his head and said don't ever use comp2!
-
Careful using comp2, i personally have had major problems caused directly by using this oil.
Was also on another forum last week where some other people were advising others against using it.
-
You meant immense as in sounds sweet rather than a bloody great racket? No probs there.
-
Ben, the noise issue is one which we as off-road motorcyclists can't ignore. Many venues have been lost to us due to noise and other side effects of our beloved sport.
There is simply no need for loud or "immense" sounding pipes on trials bikes, especially 4 strokes which as we all know carry a lot further than a strokers sound.
There is very little performance gain which the vast majority of riders can benefit from, they certainly don't help to keep your feet on the pegs.
What do you mean about the exhaust "damaging the planet"? i don't understand, i'm trying to make the point about joe public complaining about noisy bikes which he may not even be able to see over the fell/woods but that doesn't stop him contacting the council/police/national park and objecting to it.
Not sure why you brought up selling my bike for less pollution?, thats completely irrelevant.
As for the Oset? well i'm a bit too big for one, but i think you'll be seeing a lot more full size electric trials before too long.
-
Not very responsible behaviour, fitting an exhaust where the sound is "immense", not bothered about the noise issue & loss of land by giving anti motorcycling people ammunition to use against us.
As long as you're alright though eh?

Which model do you have?
Scorpa only had the 250 back then, yamaha engine.
Older models used a rotax engine of 280cc if i remember rightly?
-
What colour is the smoke from the exhaust?
Are you running a good quality full synthetic oil? What ratio?
Does the problem start when you are on full throttle?
Is the air filter clean?
-
I think now would be a good time for Raga to switch bikes, it might just be the extra bit he needs to deal with Bou.
-
Falcons work great for a while, but when they start leaking it costs quite a lot to have them rebuilt when you add on things like damper rods (which they always seem to need ,Hmm) etc
Just ordered a set of rock shocks so i can rebuild myself, will be interesting to compare performance!
-
Don't be ridiculous!!!!
Bou is going to Greeves.
-
If i was looking to get into trials, i wouldn't be thinking of getting a new bike at all, maybe find one 2 or 3 years old for a lot less money & you'll not notice the difference being a beginner.
After all, you might find you don't actually like trials!
-
Wash your filter with soapy water by all means............
Then wash it in petrol and look at all the dirt that the soapy water couldn't shift
Been using petrol for 25 years and never had any problem with filters or glue being damaged.
-
As above, no 350 model was made.
Contact Beta UK (John lampkin) for any info/tech.
-
Nice work, but a bit of a waste of time as converted monos aren't allowed in the twinshock class at many clubs or the ACU classic series as it is cheating.
Would make a great air-cooled mono conversion though!
-
How would metal flakes from the gearbox get into the crankcase though?
