I am hoping to road register my TY250 T/S with an authentic number from the year of manufacture, but didn't know what year the bike was made. One call to Yamaha Customer Services on 01932 358000 to give them the frame number and there you go, 1978. Excellent, especially as they are also going to provide me with a dating letter to accompany my application to the DVLA as well. Well done Yamaha.

My TY250C with electrexworld ignition stopped while idling waiting for the guy ahead of me to ride a section, no spark including after disconnecting killswitch & removing plug cap My friend has the 1 of their ignitions in his 175 & looking at the parts list for both kits the cdi/coil unit are the same for both so we can substitute to eliminate that, can't find any information on testing the stator though Can anyone point me in the direction of how to test the various components so I can order whatever has failed

I have managed to put a nice dent in my TY175 tank. Can anyone recommend a repair company who will also respray, fit new decals and then lacquer? If so, any ballpark of cost? UK - ideally south east. Thanks.

Is anyone using the DEP rear muffler for the TY175? If so 2 questions: 1) Is it fairly quiet? 2) Does it have a recess for an O-ring where the pipe pushes into the standard TY mid-box to ensure a good seal? (like the standard TY175 rear muffler has) cheers

Has anyone recently got a DEP silencer? I just noticed one listed at Sammy Miller products but they are "out of stock" I emailed DEP USA and asked as their website said "not available at this time" But I got no reply. I was curious whether they made their own or if it's a re-badged WES? It would be a DEPY2919.

Hello I found one of those stools you used to find at community centre's and schools, metal tube legs and a wooden top. I thought chop the legs down a wee bit and it would make a good diddy bench as they seem robust. But before I get at it I thought I'd ask you guys if you'd have a universal height guide, standard measure. Cheers Squid.

Hello again. When I mentioned diddy work bench, I meant something just to support the bike, you know box sorta thing. I was just wondering what a safe height would be as I've never seen one in the real world. Squid.

Hi Ive just picked up yet another TY250 Mono as a parts donor, has a couple of interesting modifications, wondered if they are familiar to anyone. The front end has a disc brake conversion using a brembo caliper, it appears to be clamped to the fork leg. I assume this is aftermarket as surely a Yamaha version would have a mounting point on the forks. Also the back end has a disc brake conversion as well, the gut I bought it from said he'd owned the bike for 10 years and it was like that when he got it - he bought it from a trials bike specialist in the North East who told him the back end was from a Gas Gas. Ill try and post some pics in the next few days if its of in…

G'day, Can anyone help me with information regarding how best to come up with a disc brake for the front of my TY 250 Monoshock? I assume there must be a particularly common wheel/caliper/bracket combination widely used? Any help greatly apprecviated. Thanks, Jason.

How do i remove / dismantle the fork legs on a TY250 mono? I seem to remember a while back that there was a special tool required to go down the inside of the tube to lock it then you can undoo the bolt that goes up through the bottom of the slider. Be damned if i can find it though. Anybody have any details.

Hi, I am in the process of rebuilding a little TY for my son, I got it in a sorry state, the person I got it from told me it was an 80 so that's what Ive been going on. I've had the frame, swing arm etc shotblasted and now it's all repainted. I was cleaning the engine getting it ready for painting when I found "553" with "49cc" stamped underneath the fins on the cylinder. When I put in the frame number on the Internet it tells me she's a 1975 TY80. Is the 49cc stamp telling me it's a Ty50 or does the 49cc relate to something else. Thanks for any help.
