I was thinking of adding one any thoughts?

  2. My 1984 TY250 mono came with a front disc brake conversion. It needs to be rebuilt but I don’t know the type of calliper or master cylinder to get rebuild kits. Does anyone know?

hi all at some stage i will need to replace both wheels and was wondering if there was a known set of wheels that fit eg dt stuff. was thinking that if the other wheels had a different spoke configuration it might be easier to get different rims? cheers

  4. hi I currently have a gas gas txt pro (2002) that i have up for sale. if it dosn't sell I was toying with the idea of fitting the front end and rear wheel from the gas gas onto the TY i've only had a brief look but the rear hub on the gas gas seems to be wider, by about 15mm, i was thinking i could get the hub and the disc stay arm machined down to fit. The front end would probably fit if i pressed out the steering stems and replaced the TY one in the gas gas forks? also i would need to mount the rear brake res somewhere has anyone else done anything similar? at the moment nothing is set in stone but i was just mulling over the possibilites m…

On turning the fuel tap on I noticed petrol pouring out of the carburettor breather pipe at the bottom of the carburettor? Is this because the needle and seat is not shutting off?

My TY250C with electrexworld ignition stopped while idling waiting for the guy ahead of me to ride a section, no spark including after disconnecting killswitch & removing plug cap My friend has the 1 of their ignitions in his 175 & looking at the parts list for both kits the cdi/coil unit are the same for both so we can substitute to eliminate that, can't find any information on testing the stator though Can anyone point me in the direction of how to test the various components so I can order whatever has failed

  7. Hi guys, I’ve been working hard at restauring a nice ty175B 1975 and after cleaning the carb and changing piston rings, i still can’t get any power after first gear. But if i take off the air filter, I get enough torque to shift and I have great acceleration. What should I do ? I was thiking maybe a mikuni carb fixing kit, new seals and gaskets ?

  9. Has anyone tried the Moose Racing shift lever on their 74 TY 250 A? https://www.denniskirk.com/moose/blue-forged-shift-lever-for-husqvarna-tx125-2017-1602-1139.p579997.prd/579997.sku Let me know if you like it/ fits perfect or whatever- I'm probably going to replace mine soon cause it does not fold and is not stock anyway.

Hi all, the owner of the ‘84 TY250 I’m trying to buy has given me the VIN# but the only match I can find is a 2014 XT600… just wondering if someone, (with a similar bike) could have a look at their VIN and see it’s even closely related to this one; JYA44H006EA000148 I can’t physically check it myself as it’s four hours away and I want to get my ducks in a row before I take the drive. Thanks

Hi all, I don’t want to be ‘that guy’ by asking a whole bunch of questions here rather than doing my own research however… I have found and am about to buy, subject to a visit, a fully restored 1984 TY250 Mono, (in Canada) and not being any kind of expert on these bikes, I would hugely appreciate any advice or things to look for on this bike. I’m not looking to modify it or tune it, not at the moment anyway, rather to learn/update skills and have fun on it. For perspective I am an older guy with 40+ years of riding experience on all sorts of bikes. Thanks in anticipation, Chris

  14. The ball plunger/ spring mechanism on my TY175 kick starter is not doing a great job of keeping the kick starter rotated in out of the way when riding. I tried a stronger spring but it is still not great. Is there a way to improve that function? I wonder about deepening the hole that the ball drops into when rotated in but don't know if that would help or make it worse. The fit of the kick-start lever to the shaft it rotates on is not like new but not bad for an old bike. I had a similar issue with a TLR200 but never came up with a good fix.

So, my maiden weekend voyage on a new-to-me 47 year old TY250, I managed to find the weak link in the aftermarket shift pedal... What I'm trying to find is anyone and everyone out there with background on replacing one on their TY, and which one they went with... Also my first bike in general and I'm kicking myself for taking so long. Short of ordering random ones off the internet and trying them the next time I get a day off... Which doesn't sound like something I want to gamble on... Because I'd rather ride. 😁

I picked up a 74 model 250 a few months ago from an ad on OfferUp. The ad made it sound like it just needed an air filter and a quickdusting off but after an hour and a half drive I found a badly neglected bike missing lots of parts and a seized up top end, no paperwork and the back wheel was locked up even though the chain was missing. I reluctantly gave the seller a few bucks and dragged the bike into the van. I hate returning empty handed in these cases. When I got it home I tried removing the cylinder but it was welded onto the piston. I could see that the crank was not seized but it was going to take some serious punishment from the cylinder removal process. Aft…

Hello, I recently bought a 78 TY 250. It is next to impossible to start cold unless you push it. Once it is running, it goes great. I cleaned the carb and checked the compression. The compression is 90. I have a new top end off a 2nd donor bike that is new I was going to swap out. I cannot find the specs for compression anywhere. Is the 90 compression the problem and if so, I have not been able to find the head gasket and bottom gasket. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! Don

  18. Guys- as you probably know, the stock air filter is not the easiest thing in the world to service or maintain. It worries me that the air box and air filter may allow dirt to enter the carb because of a poor fit and or leaks. Has anyone come up with a fix for the stock air filter problems? Here is the filter I'm using: https://www.ebay.com/itm/401499859787?hash=item5d7b41ab4b:g:9QMAAOSwnHZYUUUz It fits over a cage like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/274750021130?hash=item3ff8609e0a:g:SYAAAOSw7wJgbfOe If you have found or made something better, please let me know!

So this is just an update on my install and first tests of the Clubman ignition from Rex's Speed Shop. I was not sponsored, so this is on my own nickel. This kit has actually exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with the results. The install is very simple and most of the pictures are easy to understand. The first part of the install is to remove the magneto rotor with your special puller tool., swap out the old ignition back plate with the new one and bolt it down with the new hardware provided. I used a little blue Loctite on the three screws just for a little peace of mind. The new ignition plate is way less busy than the stock one as it does not have…

  20. Yesterday while raising my bike onto the support stand I heard a crack sound- looked down and there was a crack straight thru one of the corner bolt holes in my original fiberglass plate. So I figured that if it is breaking just lifting the bike onto the stand- what's it going to do on a rock or tree trunk in the field? Anyway- not too long ago somebody in Australia had mentioned that they had made some new aluminum skid plates for an A model TY 250. I am now officially ready for one if they are still available. If not, what is the best thickness of material to make one of these plates? Any patterns or measurements would also be helpful. I'm thinking 6061 T6 but not…
