I picked up a fairly original U.S. model 76 ty250. It still has the autolube hooked up. I know alot of people disconnect them and premix fuel. what are the pros and cons of doing this. I know about saving weight and piece of mind in not worrying about the pump failing. But has anyone ever really seen one fail? Do you think the lubrication is better if pre mixed.

Anybody smarter than me, I have to install a flat sprocket on a TY 250B and I don't remember ( I didn't write it down ) the tickness of the spacer I need, the one I put on my other TY seem's to be 4 mm thick. I can't measure it without tacking the sprocket off and I don't want ( or am too lazy ) to take it off. Guy

How do you remove the seal under the bolt at the bottom of the fork? Do you need to replace if it looks OK? I currently have 2 sets of forks. One set has what looks like a red fiber washers in place but they do not want to move almost like they are glued on place. I don't know if both sides sealed or not. The second set looks like it has copper washers on top of the red fiber washers. Both sides of this did seal.

Hi, I need a new rear rim for my 1976 TY175, because the present one is cracked also its due an overhaul as the spokes are corroded. The present rim is a 18 x 1.85 with 36 spokes, with a 4.00 x 18 MT43 tyre fitted. How does this size relate to a WM size rim? Any ideas on UK suppliers? Thanks Triton

Hello, I recently spotted a well known UK majesty 250 riders bike that looked like it had a TY mono gearbox/ crankcases on it. Has anybody seen or know of this mod? It had the twinshock barrel & head, the frame down tubes were altered & it has a mono bashplate. If I'm correct it must take some time to get running right?!!!

Hello, can anyone let me know where I can get a white fron mudguard for a TYZ 250 as well as the mudguard stay which acts as a fork brace? I'm after new ones if possible. Many thanks

after getting my clutch fixed i took the bike out for a run and then one of the forks seized solid. it does move a little while twisting it but it feels very rough, i don't know how im going to get it apart. iv been meaning to change the seals for a while as they were leaking very badly so i suspect the lack of oil is what caused it to seize. does anyone know how ill be able to get it apart. i just hope this hasn't caused any serious damage. Hi. Thanks for all the excellent TY info here. I used to ride a Bultaco in some of the local vintage events, but that was 20 years ago. I recently bought a pile of stuff that should yield one fairly complete 250, and tripped over a TY175 last week. One of them will be my new machine. I can't wait to go ride with all the other old guys. Personally, I'm hoping the 175 works out. Although they seem to be pretty popular in Europe, I don't know if i've ever seen another here in the states. It is a cool little machine. HIya...a post on behalf of a mate!!.. any help greatly appreciated. The front wheel rim on his TY250 mono (1983 we think) is badly rotted. Its a 32 spoke drum brake. Just wondered. We will try to look around for another used 32 spoke rim here that might suffice...but were also thinking maybe its worth going the whole hog and trying to fit a different wheel+hub altogether..one with a disc even. Any ideas on this....(Oh! and as is often the case..this will be done with as little money spent as possible..!!)

Hi Guys I've just picked up my new (very old) twin shock Ty175 to join my FZR400RR 3TJ & RD350LC. I intend to use the TY for light fun use off road with my pal on his fantic 305. Hello am restoring a Ty 80 I've had a new con rod pressed in and balanced it came without thrush washers now I've put it together when I put the 2 crank cases together and nip up the crack is stiff and will harden move without force i have built many off same engine without fault the only difference being all had thrush washers in as any 1 any idea what else it could be as I've done everything correct main bearing fully home so in my mind it can't be anything else or am i missing something apart from the thrush washers TA

Here we go again? What are your thoughts about mounting a tubeless Dunlop 803GP T tire on the rear (tube type) (twinshock DID rim??) When I ordered it- the web page said it was "tube type" but when it arrived, the words "tubeless" were moulded into the sidewall rubber. Hi All Any pointers on the following problem greatly appreciated: I can start my TY and it'll run for a few seconds and then it kind of "fluffs out" (probably not a correct technical term). It'll start again after a few kicks and do the same again. Using or not using the choke seems to make no difference. Revving or not revving seems to make no difference. It still conks out after a few seconds. Thanks in advance for any help. Ian
