Anyone here knows the right size of Montesa Cota 348 fork oil seals? Mine worn out seals are 35x47x7 but I'm not sure about the 7 mm. Where to get the new ones?

Currently modifying the OSSA for next year and i was wondering if anybody has had any experience with making an exhaust for a MAR? One thing i have never got my head around is why the exhaust is such a large bore? A 320 Majesty seems to run fine on a much smaller pipe as does my James so why does the OSSA and incidentally the Bultaco have such a large bore pipe? Has anybody tried a smaller bore one on their bike? The reason for asking is i can easily get hold of some 38mm s/s dairy bends which is what my James exhaust is made of. Also the TY twinshock exhaust is about the same diameter and a 320 seems to have no problem breathing well on that size. If i could get hold…

I have rebuilt the bottom end, but i have a single thrust washer left over, it is a strange one as it has splines on the inside any ideas, where i should be ? It is approximately 35mm in dia with a very shallow set of spline on the inside

In short. Are there any lists charts or web sites pages etc, that list what shocks were fitted as standard to trials bikes of various brands, and any similar info on how to ID the various makes of shocks and iding them besides the obvious looking for a name or number on them.

OK. As usual with me a bit complicated but i will try to keep it simple. I've just bought a std TY250 twinshock as a bit of a "project" as if i aint got enough The front forks are pitted so my options are? 1. Have them rechromed. Problem everybody says they are crap forks anyway. 2. Fit a set off a TY250Mono. Have you ever tried to get hold of a set of forks off a TY250mono that arent knackered already? 3. Find and fit a set off something else. Now this i find attractive as there is more chance of finding something than trying to find a set of mono ones. Anyone seen the RTX Yamaha mono engined bike Chris Koch was pictured on in last weeks TMX news i think it was a John Bliss RTX chassis with a Yamaha ty mono engine installed? and by the looks of it a majesty tank? anyone seen it in action?

I gave my TLR 200 a bit of an overhaul and face lift - fresh fork oil, new brake shoes,grips, sealed the rusty tank, a fresh coat of paint and I am very pleased with the results but looking at the photo I see what I forgot... some air in the front shocks ... doh!

I have decided to replace the AMAL 627 on my 76 MAR and go with the Mikuni VM Carb mod, what I would like assistance with is has anyone out there done this mod and what size Carb did they use and what size Jets did they select. The other question that I have is what setup was used for mounting to the Barrel and to the Airbox. Any and all assistance and recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Glen

Does anyone recognise this airboot? My guess is that it is the same or similar to one from a Montesa twinshock. A customer asked me if I could replicate it. But it is split around the folds and will be very fidly (= expensive) to remake. I suspect that there would be a bettter one around if we can work out what it is. Hi One question, i know this might sound a bit daft, but what actually constitutes a "twinshock" ? Let me explain. Just look at the Cotswold Majesty for example or choose your own. Here is a bike which undeniably is a "twinshock" (it has two rear shock absorbers) but it was made this century. So are twinshocks anything with two rear shocks? Do they have to be manufacturered before a certain date? Must they be aircooled? When we say manufactured which bits do we actually mean? After all there are many aftermarket frame kits around. Some replicas of the originals, some of works frames, some just very light and tidy. You see where i am going with this is why couldnt…

Just reassembled my 240 pro yesterday with new double needle brgs. in the swingarm pivot, and can actualy see the stock marzocchi's flex upon compression !!!! It works 100% better with new brgs. but I need new shocks. Has anyone tried the new NJB trikshok W/ the spherical brgs in the eyelets instead of rubber bushings yet ! looks like the hot ticket to me !! Any info helpful Thanks Glenn

I see the new ACU rules for class 8 and 11 require that the twinshock suspension be "as fitted at time of manufacture". No more canting forward of suspension units then?

Hi I've just bought a bike and have stripped it to find what needs replacing, its has a new Domino throttle and cable, as I'm on quite a tight budget I was hoping to use these again. Is there anyway to tell if it's a slow pull or fast pull throttle. Thanks in advance

If this works, you should be looking at it. This one is really special. Lot's of carving to try and drop the weight.

Hi has anyone noticed a very nice ty80 whitehawk on evil bay.... seems too cheap, I remember when they used to sell a whitehawk kit that you added to your existing ty80 ,, they were very expensive as i seem to remember,,! i think it took the wheel size to 17" rear and 20" front,, correct me if i am wrong. Hi All, I've just purchased a 1979 Cota 349 as a first foray into the world of classic trials, after years of motocross and enduros. The bike had been laid up for a few years and the owner claimed that it had been completely rebuilt (whatever that means) previous to this. After putting new oils in the primary and gearbox and fresh fuel in the tank, it fired up, second kick, but it seems very rattly! So rattly in fact that its a bit emabarassing riding it in my back garden! The noise seems to be mostly from the top end, possibly piston slap and small end, but its hard to tell. Should this engine be mechanically quiet, or is a bit of rattle normal? If its not normal the…
