For my sins i decided its about time i got the old Ossa back up and running. Its been sitting in the corner of the garage for the last 10 years while other projects have been soaking up funds (sound familiar?) Now i've never stripped an Ossa before. Plenty of Bultaco's and Montesa but not the Ossa. Anybody know of anything or any special tools i will need? also parts seem almost like the "Holy Grail" always promised but never actually there. One last cycle part i need is an origional airbox. I know i could get one fabricated but would like to restore to origional. Anybody got one holding the shed door open?? So any advice and or location of parts will be greatfully receiv…

Hi maybe some out there can help. I am rebuilding a Cota 350, which has basically the same engine as a 349. I had the crank rebuilt and the rod used is not a Montesa original rod but a Metrkit rod which is aprox 1 mm thicker in the rod width, the base and top being the same as the Montesa rod. I recentered the crank using some of the different guaged spacers, and got everything lined up with an even distanve between crank halfs and the rod centered in the middle of the crank cases. Everything seemed ok until I put the piston and cylinder on and there is a noise as I turn the engine over. From what I can see, the connecting rod is shifted to one side as the engine turns a…

I have recently got hold of a 159 which has been stored for a few months but was definitely a runner (and I can trust the guy I got it from). If I crank it over with the plug on the head I can't get a spark. I can't see anything obvious, the points check out with a multi meter and have tried a spare ignition coil which made no difference and have also tried more than 1 plug. For the wiring into the 'chocolate block' is it correct that the red cable from the flywheel magneto goes to the black lead in the ignition coil? Any advice gratefully received.

I am acutally posting this for my father who owns four greeves. Three all angelicans and a pioneer??? He rides AHMRA trials series. Either way he has an orginal 19" tire on one of the angelicans. His others were converted to 18" ers. He is trying to find a 19 incher without going to a knobby mx tire. After much surfing I am comming up with nothing. Preffereably not a cheng sheng. Any body know of 19 by 4.00's out there? Europeans do not hesitate to answer. He is located in New York. Thanks in advance --Biff

I'm waiting for my new Raga replica so I drove down to Mercer this morning to watch a classic and twinshock trial. Mercer's about 60km south of Auckland. Some of the tackle that was there was very rare indeed, for example this 500T Norton ('bout a 1949 vintage): There were also 4 198/199 Bultacos there. This was possibly the cleanest example: Also there was a lovely Greeves. The Greeves was ridden by NZ reigning enduro champ Chris Birch whose father is pictured on the 198A Bulto Peter Birch on the 198A Sherpa Also pictured, the great view from the venue. As well as a few local enthusiasts.
