  1. Started by speedquattro,

Can anyone out there help me find out how much gearbox oil goes in a mont 200, please? The bike is a HM from about 79-80, but I think they are all the same, even the 125/175 versions. Help would be appreciated, Thanks

Hello Yesterday i purchased a Montesa 200 but the engine appears to be a lot bigger than a 200,is there any way to identify the engine size? How do i set up the carb for correct running? I will attempt to post some pictures tonight for your perusal as the bike is in very good condition for a 25 year old trials bike Thanks Mark

  10. OK. As usual with me a bit complicated but i will try to keep it simple. I've just bought a std TY250 twinshock as a bit of a "project" as if i aint got enough The front forks are pitted so my options are? 1. Have them rechromed. Problem everybody says they are crap forks anyway. 2. Fit a set off a TY250Mono. Have you ever tried to get hold of a set of forks off a TY250mono that arent knackered already? 3. Find and fit a set off something else. Now this i find attractive as there is more chance of finding something than trying to find a set of mono ones. Plus if i can fit a set of 35mm dia ones the fork yokes dont need machining so much unlike with mono TY ones a…

Got a sherpa 340 199b. the crome brake linnings are chipping off. Ive been living with it for quite a few years, but I think I would like to do something about it now. Does anyone know of someone state side that can fix this and possibly improve the design to give better preformance.

  12. Started by penno350,

I have recently got hold of a 159 which has been stored for a few months but was definitely a runner (and I can trust the guy I got it from). If I crank it over with the plug on the head I can't get a spark. I can't see anything obvious, the points check out with a multi meter and have tried a spare ignition coil which made no difference and have also tried more than 1 plug. For the wiring into the 'chocolate block' is it correct that the red cable from the flywheel magneto goes to the black lead in the ignition coil? Any advice gratefully received.

  13. Started by wobbler,

I now have a cota 247 Frame no 21M253** circa 1979/1980 I have seen a couple with mods done to the Rear Shocker angle and also the bottom tubes being replaced with a full (more modern style) one peice sump guard and obviously replacing the standard footpegs with some more modern ones. Does any one have a handbook/maual available with all of the fork/gearbox/clutch oil amounts etc Any advice would be a great help. Thanks & a happy New Year Wobbler

  18. I have stripped down the bottom end, to replace the main bearings and seals. I am looking for advice in which order to reassemble the crank and main bearings. Do you heat the two halves of the casing and fit the main bearings into the casing first and the fit the crank ? If so how do you know the position the bearings in the casing as there is no lip to push them up against.

What's the way to go with this? I have a crappy, dented delaminated tank. I don't need beauty....just keep the fuel where it belongs.
