What is the pre-mix ratio for an air-cooled Rotax 240 (SWM) ? In other words, how much do i need to put in to 5 Litre's of Optimax ?? Thanks in advance. Gaff.

I'm desperate for a crankshaft, ok if it needs a rebuild. Can anyone help? I'm told 350 MAR cranks are different - can anyone confirm/deny/tell me if it can stil be used? Cheers

Hi Just want some idea of the value of the bikes above. Both start and run. The Yam not so well as I have not touched it for about 6 months but looks good and could do with a tune. The Ital is in very good condition, no rattles, plenty of power and it still has the original tires, Michellin, in excellent condition. I am thinking of listing them on Ebay. I have three other bikes (Montesas) and as I am getting on I just can't find the time to give them all a good run. What do you reckon would be a reasonable price to expect? The bikes are located in Australia. Thanks for any advice.

What should the center to center distance be for rear shocks on 348.and what was rear travel

How do you remove the small allen bolt at the bottom of the fork legs (ie stop it revolving inside?) as i want to strip my forks on my suzuki? thanks in advance!

A friend of mine (no really!) has just bought an Ossa Gripper and is wondering whether there is a better carb to use than the standard Amal. Has anyone successfully fitted a Dellorto or anything else to a Gripper (250) and improved the carburation?

Convinced myself that i needed a twin shock "project" and picked up a 1984 Montesa 242 in reasonable shape. It seems to be nearly all original but the airbox to carb rubber is split and the silencer (tail pipe) is missing. From what i've seen these seem to be a very narrow "pea shooter" type. Does anyone know if they are available or what a suitable replacement might be please? New, used, broken, i'm not fussy. I've yet to start it up but have had a nosey in the gearbox side (which was oilless!) and the selector shaft seems to have been repaired at some point. Is this a Monty weakness? Any other tips, hints, opinions and disparaging remarks are invited. Roy.

I'm in the process of restoring 2 1972 MARs. One hadn't run in 22 years, the other last ran a couple of years ago. That bike had been sitting for a year or so then was started but only ran for a few minutes before dying. After the bike died, the previous owner could not restart the bike even though he tried many times and many methods. He eventually gave up and sold it to me. It had almost no compression. On removal of the cylinder I found the cause. The rings were worn down to almost nothing and both the bore and the piston were quite scuffed. I've sent the cylinder to Alex Snoop for a rebore and fitment of a 2nd over NOS Tarabusi piston. This bike came to me more or …

hi ive got a dilemer with my clutch what it is is that i start the bike up and then pull te clutch in and put it into gear and it pulls away without even letting the clutch out

Hi after years of waiting came to try out me Fantic 200 (Back-kick model) and seems like clutch is stuck. Maybe due to standing I know but I also had some of the pushrod parts fall out a coupla years ago when I fitted an extended arm (for lightness). Just in case I fitted in wrong what is correct order please. As engine is lying on clutch side what order do you insert components down the tunnel? Thanks :-)

Have I to oil the new air filter foam of Montesa Cota 348? The Owner's Manual tells nothing about this matter.

Have a 348 montesa 1977 was wondering what bike should be gapped and timed,also bike has a delorto carb on it a phbh26 cs r4173.was wondering if anybody might know or have any recommendtions on how to jet this carb or what it could of come with stock and was it ever used on these bikes thanks

Hello I have just bought a 349 mark 3 in bits.I have managed to rebuild most of the engine but im not sure how to line up the gear selector mechanism to the selector drum.What position does the drum start from and how do all the marks line up.Managed to get a parts book but there are no descriptions on how to set up the engine or ignition timing.If anyone knows where to get a proper workshop manual or could give me some advice on the above it would be much appreciated cos im dying to get on the thing. cheers.

Where does the ONE wire from the centre of the 'rubber' kill switches go? Live(red) or Green(trigger) Is there no earth on these kill switches? thanks

I am just about to put back together the bottom end on my Montesa Cota 247cc, Should I put the gaskets on, 1) dry 2) Small amount of gasket solution 3) lightly greased, I have read different ideas on this subject Thanks John H

Hi Guys Does anyone out there know the thread size of the clamping screws for the Amal T80/200 throttle twistgrip? I've lost one and after spending ages searching the garage I cant find one that fits, and would rather get the right one than 'adapt' one. Cheers Rob

I just finished putting my '76 KT 250 back together, however I can't get her to run. Rather she starts 2nd kick, runs about 10 seconds with the choke on then quits. I've tried fiddling with the mixture setting, no luck. Good spark, good fuel supply to the carb. Suggestions??

Does anyone know the frame numbering sequence for the 340 Sherpas modified by Comerfords?. I saw a 340 recently that looked like and was claimed to be a Comerfords bike. It had the forward top mountings for the rear shocks and the larger s/a mounting plates to take the swinging arm forward to within a few mm of the engine casing but the swinging arm itself was of heavy oval tube and I thought they had rectangular ones made by Whitehawk. Or maybe that was an extra?. How many 340s were made in total?. Sorry, must have pushed the go button twice or something, maybe Andy can remove this post, please.
