I was given a Montesa Cota 200 for my birthday about 6 years ago by my Uncle. The bike was in 'ok' condition but was abit hard for me to ride when i was only ten so it went back into the shed. It was there until summer this year when i decided to try and ride it - bad idea. It went very well for a while, but then the engine suddenly started rattling alot. The bike therefore pobably needs an engine rebuild to find the problem. Gearbox is fine and so is everything else exept wheel and swingarm bearings etc, t just needs tidying up. I got a new Beta at christmas and the bike is cluttering up the workshop so I want to get rid of it. Unforturnately this is all I know ab…

Can anybody advise me on somebody to strip my forks, re-chrome and plastic coat the sliders as well as do a spot of welding, (where the tension bar bolts to the slider, this has been snapped at some point in the bikes past and bodged). Gaff.

I am trying to find a al tank that was used on montesa 348's,I have the USA version that was fiberglass and would like to replace with al tank then use tank cover that Sammy Miller sells. If anyone might know where I can get one let me know.I have found a 349 version ,but will not work with tank cover.

  9. TY175 Went into Acklams @ Harrogate (Beta & Yamaha) to pick up some New Yam parts that I'd ordered. I'd requested a brake lever arm for the rear wheel back plate (a 434 TY250 or TY175 part) The original item from 20 years ago was a heavy cast steel item, that corroded etc and weighed a proverbial ton in comparison to today's item. For the 21st Century Yamaha have produced an identically shaped offset rear brake lever in guess.........Cast ALUMINIUM. Beautifully crafted and shaped, plus in comparison to the crappy steel item.......it's a light as a feather. Why......... oh why didn't they make items like this in the heyday of Twinshock TY's.............if more …

If you were offered a couple of cheap montesa's locally, one a 247 the other a 349, which one would you buy? Both similar price and condition ie reasonable but not mint. I've never owned a Montesa and I just fancy trying a few twinshock events on one. Any opinions on which one to go for or should I just forget it? I'm not short of bikes to ride but you know how it is!

Anyone got any old trials videos from late '70s to early '80's that they would like to make a copy of? (VHS or DVD) Probably a bit thin on the ground, i only have 1982 British world round, great haircuts back then!

Can anyone give me any suggestions what bike uses a simple 'bung' type petrol top of roughly 41mm diameter. The top I got with the bike is of a hard rubber/artificial rubber material with a plastic top, this has Chinese or Japanese style writing on it but no-one seems to know what it comes from. I am pretty sure its from an obscure bike oil tank or petrol tank. Unfortunately this is too worn to seal, hence the car cap I am using. Alternatively has anyone any suggestions what I could use - or modify to use as a top. I have just machined the original top for 2 O rings but am still not happy with the seal on this. I have been using one of those emergency car petrol ta…

I have a bike fitted with a 110mm conical Grimeca hub which is very similar to those fitted to a Fantic. It differs in the following ways; the strengthening hubs internally are much larger, there are small strengthening ribs visible on the outside of the hub, the distance between the spoke sets left and right is narrower resulting in a narrower hub. It was originally white. Fantic sprocket and back plate fit. The bike was constructed in about 1983 or 1984. Does anyone have one for sale or know of a model it was fitted to.

One has appeared on ebay for a 175/200. What was it? Fits between carb and reedvalve and connects via pipe from the inlet rubber. Is it a gimmick.................don't remember any trials bikes with 'boost bottles'............although Yamaha YZ & IT's of that era had this type of arrangement. Can anyone enlighten me ..................I'm sure Chris (Honda RS) will be able to help me out.

Hi All Attached is a photo of a front mudguard from a Jumbo SWM. They were a universal guard with 3 flat sides rather than a rounded section. They are not stamped with any logos and were used on several other bikes including Armstrong Monos, early air cooled GasGas and even the RTX. I have recently seen several bikes with white versions, but no-one seems to know what make they are or where they got them from. Has anyone any idea who manufactured these and if anybody is still selling them in any colour. I have checked and dont think they are Acerbis or Gonelli......any other ideas? Thanks Martin www.motoswm.com

Looking for some higher bars on my Majesty 175. Currently it has the 4.5" Domino's that I bought it with. They're too low for my 6'2" frame I want at least some new bars with 6" lift. Is it only Renthal that make 6" bars or does anybody else? Were bars higher than 6" in the 70/80's or is it my imagination? Can you get 'Vintage Bend'???
