Wondering at what rpm the 348 makes it's power. In the manual, there is a graph that indicates speed vs rpm for each of the six gears, but no indication of the power band curve.

Hi I was looking at some of the past forums and there were many recommendations for Magicals fork springs and shock, however there website looks like it is down: http://themagicals.co.uk/ Does anyone know if they are still in business or where can you buy them at? Anyone have a contact email or phone number to the company? Thanks!

Saw a pair of rock shox for the first time at a trial today and they look just what i need for the James. Asked the guy whose bike they were on where he bought them "from the bloke who makes em". Hmmmm not much help. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Pete Edmundsen is doing them but cant find a number anywhere. Can anybody help with a number or website?

Well I have decided to get myself a twinshock again, something to work on as a project and to take part in twinshock trials . Now I am not fussed about what bike I go for, but would prefer early to late 70's. My question is not realy what is the best bike but what make(s) have the most widely available spares or have the best value for money parts. Don't want to get into a rebuild to find that parts take months to locate or cost more that it is worth. I don't expect all part to be on the shelf but waiting time within reason. Also are there makes that you can go to several dealers rather that 'oh with that bike you cn only get them from.....' Any help would be great

Hi everyone, I'm a new member so a quick hello. I'm sure this has probably been discussed before but I want to change bikes and would appreciate your opinions. The bikes I am interested in are a Yamaha ty250, Montesa cota349, or a bultaco250/325. Is any one of them better than the other handling, reliability wise etc? and are there any to avoid. I know there are othermakes of bikes out there but these are the ones I grew up with and have nostalgic appeal.I'm an avaerage clubman trials rider and would like a competative twinshock bike. Thanks in advance, Spawtydawg.

I asked this question a few years ago with no answer, but maybe this time I will get lucky. I bought a few basket case TY ( A, B anc C model ) with different rear rim width: 185 and 215. I ride the 215 rim with a Michelin X11 and bought an IRC tr11 as a spare, I would like your input on this : should I mount the IRC on the narrower rim or change the Michelin to the narrow rim, or is it a bad idea to mount a tire on the 185 rim? I hope someone who tried this can give me is input Guy

Probably been asked loads of times but... Got the trials bug again after a long absence, have a 5 year old beta evo I've just started riding again but the twinshock scene is pretty decent where I live so want to get a competitive twin shock, got a budget of £2k but looks like the bikes I'm after won't come in at that budget! Was after a fantic or ty175 but both look over my budget, have seen a few ty250 for around £1500, which are about a grand cheeper than the fantics or ty175's, are the 250's that much worse?! Or shud I just stump up the extra grand? Or are there any other alternatives out there for a competetive twinshock?

I love all Bultaco,s for their looks ! another favorite is the Ossa in Orange i think it,s the TR80 model or a 349 Montesa would be nice too Maybe even a 4-stroke Honda all of them are great bikes i would like to hear your choice and why please. Right the next question! out of my three bikes which would be best suited to road based trials such as sammy miller rounds or LDT'S Etc! kawasaki kt250 (1976) inbetween wheelbase , good seat, poss more comfy on road compared to others yamaha 250 majesty (1980) vibey, short wheelbase! tank range ok without any doubt the best of the rest! suzuki beamish 250 (1979) crap seat! smooth engine! longish wheelbase! nice bike to ride! quite competitive! the reason im posting this is because im thinking of selling the kt250 as its mint so i'd possibly get the best price for it plus its (never yet tried it offroad yet) never really been in the running as a pukka tr…

Hi, I'm thinking of restoring an early 80's cota349, most people I talk to about 349's don't rate them for various reasons. Now I know there are more competative bikes out there ( Fantics, Majesty's, etc ) and I realise trials have changed somewhat, but will a well sorted "standard" 349 make a decent trials bike for twinshock type events? I'm not interested in faffing about changing frame geometry and footpeg positions to make it better. In 1980 Ulf Karlson won the worlds trial championship on One they can't be that bad can they? Any thoughts lads? Cheers.

Hi folks, title says it all really. I don't know if this subject's been covered before but I was wondering If any one has got a preference for either and if so why? Are they much the same or is one any better than the other? The Whitehawk doesn't seem to be as popular as the Majesty, is this just because there wasn't as many made? Thanks for any comments.

I've recently bought a 199 Bult with an aftermarket frame which I thought at first to be a Miller frame circa 78,79.I`m now pretty sure it isn't.Anybody know about Mick Whitlock Bultaco frames? It's not one of Steve Wilsons and I can't think of anybody else who made chrome Bultaco frames in any sort of quantity.

I'm working on getting mine back together after having it in pieces for several years. I did a search and it looks like there are a few other KT250 owners (at least one with a Gollner frame) here, but some of those posts were pretty old. http://www.eurospares.com/kt250.htm is a page on my website with information on my bike. I've put Fox Trials Shox on, retoothed the dished rear sprocket, modified the head squish clearances, done a little porting, built a pipe, aluminum tank (terminal rust on the stocker) and front fender stays and not much else. The piston is a second series Honda CR/MT250 Wiseco ((1975-77). Details of some of the changes are on my website. I'm ge…

...because I have always had a real softspot for them, always found them a good looking bike , have always liked Suzuki engineering and owned more than a few zooks...I like to add one to my fleet, look good sitting beside my GSXR-750WN. ...but looking at prices over the last few months tbey seem to be bit of a bargain compared to other twinshocks....what dont I know? There always used to be a fair few doing the rounds in Kent back the day...Cliffe Marshes etc.
