Pre-65 Bikes

Has anyone converted a Gas Gas Alloy Kickstart to thier Cub? if so can you tell me what i need to do if you have the time

My C15 has a clutch actuator (pivot) that threads into the timing cover. I have been told the Cub is the same. It interfaces with the cable and rod. When rotated into the correct location, the threads are not tight. Does this matter? Will it flex around an destroy the threads? Is there a standard correction? Is seems like the threads should bottom as the correct position is met.

Hey, i want to build a pre 65 trials bike, the bike has to be competitive on Europeen pre 65 trials. not sure wat to choose i was thinking B40 or Ariel 500 as that is wat the pre 65 experts ride in europe, i don't want a 2stroke (i can't ride one i'm to used to 4stroke power) but i'm not sure what's the easiest to build. I found more info on building ariels but a B40 is probebly cheaper and easier to find parts? most people say the B40 is the easiest bike to ride and a bit lighter than an ariel (over here the pre 65 bikes are no semi modern specials like in the UK) no one rides ajs or matchless on the expert route, are these bikes harder to ride than an ariel? i have…

HI all The bike in question is a Matchless a g3lc trials 1957 ,according to the log book. I'm looking to lower gearing although all ready a trials model still to fast in sections ,gearbox sproket all ready as small as possible i think?Is there a primary sprocket with less teeth? Any help would be very much appreciated. thank you richard

Has anyone any tips on how to refit the Tiger Cub Gear Selector Quadrant pin that goes through the Quadrant and then into the gear selector shaft, which is then secured with a split pin. I have tried for ages to alighn the pin but for some reason it wont go back through. thanks to all.

I would appreciate some assistance on two AJS fronts if anyone out there can help. Firstly, I have a firend with an AJS 16M (mag in the front) engine who is converting it to trials - any ideas on where to get trials cams? I am told that the ex-WD G3L cams are favoured but woud be interested to hear opinions and some help sourcing the parts. Secondly, I have just purchased an AJS 37AT, a 1969 fairly rare beast that was partly assembled by Cotton using the Villiers 37A engine. It was only produced in 1969. I need a chainguard, airbox and left hand side panel or photos of them os I can have them made. Any information on this bike would be most welcome. Cheers,

Looking for info on converting a D7 into a trials bike for Classic/Pre 65 trials, what mods would you recomend doing to a D7 to get it trials ready? I'm thinking strip down the frame and sharpen up the head angle (what degrees?) maybe widen the swing arm for a slightly bigger tire, alloy tank/seat........ I'd be gratefull for any advice/links/pics etc... Thanks.

Hello, My first post in the 'Pre-65' Section!! I'm in the process of 're-framing' my trusty C15T into one of Howard Fawkes OTTER Frames. I bought the frame about 4 years ago and due to the purchase of my first house things got a little delayed!! Now hard back into the build I was wondering if owners of similars OTTER Framed machines could post some pictures for me. Just finished a rebuild of a James swapped for a surplus Bultaco. Its interesting having a new 'old' bike and researching all about the history of both bike and manufacturer. There is a very good website for James bikes in general (http://www.simplywizard.co.uk/index.htm) and Bill Lomas's book, which is a great read in its self, also provided a lot of background for which I am indebted for the blurb below to go with the photos. hey after looking to bild an ariel i've changed my mind, it wil be a B40 what frame options are there? (prefer oil in frame) i would like to bild something like Martin Wilmore's bsa (not the super special one that looks like a sherco) advise on the engine is very welcome to i would like it to be powerful, smooth and high reving (like my sherco) and the clutch must be good does anyone have email adress of M. Just got a relly interesting bike I managed to find a nice t100 twin a few weeks back and have tarted it up ready for a bash but the chassis was still about 55" long.(pretty standard 3ta)so i was looking for a chassis for it, Just bought a 58 crusader (enfeild) with a 3ta motor ,it seems really trick,the guy i got it from didnt know what it was ,it is 51" long no bottom rails with a big alloy bash plate lots of alloy parts,rickman rear wheel and marzochii shox ,so it was probablly used well into the eightys. It is reg BAS 501 does anyone know the bike????? It looks to have had a hard life but definitly sorted , it has been in cornwall for at least 20 years

Here we go again! Im trying to fit a PES outrigger bearing plate to my b40 but the chain sprocket seems too wide to get a full nut and also no clearance between the outrigger bearing and sprocket nut. Has anyone fitted one of these and had the same trouble? Seems like you have to make the sprocket a little narrower? Please help one step forward and one step back at the moment!!!
