Hi all I lost all sparks on my B40, havnt had a chance to get into it but would like to know how to check the lucas generator. Also are there any checks for Boyer systems ? How long do they last, it must be a least 10 years old. (Just had a look at the Boyer site and they have fault finding information) Any common problems ? Bad earth, plug cap ? I get the occasional backfire when kicking it over, but can hold the plug and get nothing. The coil is quite old so I may change this as a matter of course. I've tryed a couple of new plug to eliminate that, but have got no further. Any pointers appreaciated Ross

I need some help with my b40 engine! Im in the middle of rebuilding my engine and Im not sure about the crank shaft bush in the outer casing. It looks like a steel insert within a piece of rubber and is'nt a very good fit with the crank. Drawings only show an oil seal. Is this correct or has some one played with it? would be very greatful for any info.

Does anyone know if there is a splined kickstart shaft available for the early distributor type C15 (Star?) engine? It's a 1963 engine. Really fed up having to drift out cotterpins every time I have to remove the kickstart. No matter which type I use they bend and really take some hammering to remove. The knuckle on my forefinger really hurting and being twice it's normal size thanks to the hammer was the last straw this tonight... Or I may have to investigate the possiblility of grafting a splined shaft from something else onto the C15 gear - or rather I will have to talk nicely and grovel to someone else... That sort of stuff is beyond my capabilities

Hi Guy's, Have any of you got any photos of Paul (Heinz) Heys's Winning Triumph Cub. You know what I am like by now, I just need to see what makes this bike tick. I am not saying that Paul is not a brilliant rider ,because he must be to have won. And the bike being 230cc makes that a bit trick? has anyone information about whats in the engine, etc. Perhaps Classic Dirt Bike might test it later for us ,with Pauls permision. More importantly Congratulations on a fine win Paul. Regard's Charlie. PS I know there are two Photos that Andy took.

hi all Think my thread title says it all - just need a bit of positive input from those in the know. VERY original proper trials version of the royal enfield crusader. I had every intention of lovingly restoring it to acceptable competetive riding condition - not to show or molly coddle. However I have been tempted by another project which is more suitable for myself. This crusader is complete and bought as a runner, though I have not even put petrol in and tried it as yet. It has new dunlops and chain and was last ridden in anger 2 years ago. Was considering putting it on fleabay but would really appreciate some rough idea of what price to expect or buy it now p…

in advance of Scotland i have just fitted a bicycle digital speedo, having heard that the ignition plays havoc with the wireless types, i fitted a wired one. all works well if freewheeling with a dead engine, but once the engine is running the speedo displays random numbers.. i guess the PVL coil is causing the problem... any one have a solution????

Hi all I have just fitted an Electrex ignition system to my Greeves Scottish and discovered that it isn't possible to position the stator plate in the position that corresponds to the instructions - to time it to fire 10 degree BTDC, and I would have to drill new holes in the stator plate to achieve this setting. Has anyone else come across this problem ?. Incidentally, I can position the stator to 16 degrees BTDC (as per original system).

Help! Just bought a 250 Greeves. Bike's in Scotland. Need assistance to collect it! Seller is willing to take the Greeves to Kinlochleven during SSDT week for collection by anyone who's up there from down south. Would be more than willing to contribute to petrol and transportation costs - ideally to Gordon Farley's in Guildford (who would give it a checkover etc.) but anywhere south would do (I could then arrange delivery to GF's). Does anyone have space on their trailer or van?
