Pre-65 Bikes

I've acquired this Aluminium tank which has Triumph transfers on but I don't know what model it's for,can anyone help. I've just set up an MSN group to place some pics of it : Twinshock Info I don't need it so would be willing to swap/px for a TL125 bottom end or Dalesman bits or 70s Suzuki MX/Trail stuff. It's been a while but have made a bit of progress with the Ex Eastwood c15. DVLA have sorted the reg doc and it is now registered under its original number with the help from BSA owners club. The engine has been rebored and top end cleaned up, electronic ignition, amal concentric. Have just finished chopping the subframe and sorting out a new front mount, I was worried about this as the bike is very original but once I put sensible shocks on I could hardly touch the ground!, anyway the works bikes had the same treatment. Hello all, Just joined the pre65 brigade after purchasing an otter framed B40. Is there a service manual available that could give me information such as oil types/quantities, servicing tips etc? The bike is in good condition but needs a few sessions in the 'Cosmetic department' and a good checking over...any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Mark.

The "project" is slowly coming on, far too slowly to tell the truth, and i am now looking for some front mudguard stays. Now in the "good old days" you just went down to your local trials shop and sorted through the mudguard stays they had on the shelf and found a set that fitted or were close enough to be made to fit. Those halcyon day are long gone. Nobody seems to stock anything nowadays just "will order it for you". thats ok i suppose if you are wanting std bits for a std bike but when building a pre 65 "special" it just aint that easy. The bike has Norton Commando sliders and i was thinking of trying eithe TL125 or TY175 stays as they look sort of what i am looking…

Help required please for a wd engine & gearbox Is there a alloy clutch basket available for this engine Mine has teeth broken and slots are worn like a zig zag Who supplies gear selector forks for a wd gearbox & replacement gearbox spares. mine are ground and worn on faces, no thrust washers etc Can i convert 5/8" kickstart to 3/4" splined unit with a wd engine & box ? Again teeth broken on kickstart gear. Kickstart gear pinions worn need replacements. What do you lot use for cleaning crankases for removal of old gasket goo. sorry for all questions but saves time

hi i am busy converting a road c15 to trials was wondering if i should fit standered length rear shocks or should they be longer, my concern would be lifting the rear end to high and making it look really stupid cheers

I recently purchased a cub to convert into trials trim. I am trying to decide what is the best route to go with for the front end. The bike I have has the heavyweight front end on it. I have read about putting modern internals into the heavyweight forks. I think this may be the way I would like to go with the bike so it looks period correct anyhow. Does anybody have any idea of which parts I neeed to source to make this conversion or a idea how to do it. I have a very good machinist down the street so maching down the legs should not be a problem. Maybe there is someone in the USA doing this conversion? Cheers matt

hi there this is my first post, fairly new to this site, finding it very interesting, anyway just bought a competition ex mod c15 b40 frame with a year date 1965 to replace my road framed altered c15 1961 frame ,with a c15t engine fitted trials bike .it as cub or late bantam hubs fitted, having trouble with rear wheel seems like spindle needs more length maybe inch each side .do any body do a different size spindle . think ive sorted front end just need to use b25 bearing races with my original front end?any info would be helpfull cheers

Hi Guys. I have decided to build an exact replica of Scott Ellis's last works BSA C15 F. I have several photos of the bike with Scott riding it, but only one picture of the bike from a side view, in Don Morley's book. Has any one out there got any side view shots of the bike, or does any one know where the bike BOK228C is. It is still registered at the DVLA as a BSA 250. ( this is the frame that the copy is now reffered to as an Otter). Regards Charlie.

does anyone do a rear sub frame or complete light weight slimline frame for royal enfeilds, or more importantly indian enfeilds????? i am more than happy with the mods i have done allready, but did not want to start fabricating a whole rear end if one is available..

Nearly there with the Cub have had it running but it is not right. It is fitted with the Del-Orto carb but to start it needs the throttle open with the choke on, when the choke is released the engine dies. Can any one tell me have you had to change to any different jet sizes etc in these carbs or alter anything, also what jets, cutaway etc did your carb come with. Thank you in advance for any help.

looking at the ht on ebay could you ride it as is, and be competitive in pre 65 trials?

Some time ago i managed to buy a pretty rough made up bike but as i was only after the Earl's and engine so out came the dosh. Anyway im trying to hunt down the correct DMW frame to compliment the fork's,late 50's i gather. Does anyone have any idea if these frame's are still up for grab's,or put me in contact with any DMW people. cheer's.

Looking for a few suggestions re the gearing for the James project. It's still in bits just bigger bits So as i havent run it yet i will be having to get some sprockets ordered from Talon. If you run a Greeves or James, Sprite etc what gearing do you use? I am using a std crank sprocket as the smaller ones need to have the crankcases modifying to get it to fit so really down to the gearbox and rear sprocket. I know it will need fine tuning and possible adjusting once i get it up and running, the B40 was the same just fitted a smaller rear sprocket to that as it was too low geared, just like to get it nearish as i cant aford to "waste" a rear sprocket by getting one t…

So FINALLY got me James frame in the shed Now i need to paint it Dont want to powder coat as i will need to modify, you know how it is, adding brackets taking away etc etc. Stove enameling is out too for the same reason. Wanted something i could brush paint so it is easy to touch up the rock damage thats the problem with living in Derbyshire. Also easy to repaint an area that gets damaged due to welding / modifying etc. Tried smoothrite in the past but the bonding qualities are hit and miss plus it seems to chip off at the first sign of a rock or tree interface moment so what does the panel recommend?
