When checking machine eligibility do scrutineers check the year of manufacture on a V5 document? There are clearly plenty of D14 engined 4 speed Bantams being ridden in Pre 65 trials, when those bikes were originally 1968 or later. So how is this trick pulled off? By putting a later engine in an earlier donor bike, who's V5 is of the appropriate year? I am not so concerned in this post about parts eligibility so much as ensuring the machine's documentation is in order.

I am the owner of a 1959 tiger cub. I wonder if it is a good idea to fit an oil seal in the guide valves to avoid some oil in the chamber combustion...?. There exist some from Norton with similar interior size. It only needs to mechanize the guide. Does anyone have any idea or sugestions about it? Thanks in advance

Well having arrived in Kinlochleven at 3am on friday we've just got back! Two great days of trials half decent weather with rain ( drizzle mostly ) and a fair degree of sunshine. Paul Heys seemed absolutely determined to win , his concentration was a step above most others, Tony Calvert is a very cool customer and he always looked in control. the frist day started with the observers on the first two sections standing on the wrong two sections! ( they were in fact on saturdays sections, ) an impasse looked inevitable until a resolute we've started so this is were we'll observe decsion was made. and so the riders made thier attempts. Mick Grant took a 5 for a tumble as h…

I've unearthed a Villiers 11e engine from the back of the shed. I've been told it's likely to have come from an invilid car, but wanted to ask if these are any good as the basis for a trials bike? And if so, what are the best frame options?

Hi, have just acquired what I assume is a 150 Villiers engine with 55mm bore. The gearbox, primary & flywheel mag seem fine. Unfortunately it's seized, so rather than rebuild this probably underpowered unit, I was wondering if a 197 bottom/top end would fit into the existing gearbox, primary, mag set-up? Thanks in advance... Hello all, I am in need of some help, before i burn the **#@! bike, I have a real ugly 197 Villiers "7E" maybe in a BSA d3 frame, just bought it and want to get it running. I have spark at the plug.. the plug seems to be getting wet from fuel but not drowning... but no real fire only coughs and the odd hiss out carb. Also it has a dellorto ub20s carby. Anybody that wants to throw there hat in the ring is welcome and no idea would be consider silly.. Bike is in Australia and is my pre 65 project if it lives that long. will be waiting "sleeping" at my keyboard till I get some ideas.. Timing setup? points? I dont know. Thanks guys Chris

  19. In the process of building a pre 65 two stroke, never did get on that well with 4 strokes, so all i need now is a Villiers 32a or 37a engine. Anybody got one spare? Not bothered about the condition as i expect to have to replace the bearings etc anyway. Just dont want any holes or cracks. So can anybody help?
