I was interested to read in the Hawkstone programme the British riders responses to the question, "Can Toni Bou emulate Doug & Jordi Tarres, record of 7 world titles?" The response was a pretty unanimous yes. You have to say the world top 10 is a pretty stagnant place with only Bou making a significant move up and Dibs also making some progress. Everyone else is pretty much shuffling down in order to make space for these two. It's hard to see anyone currently riding in the full WTC being able to beat a fit Toni Bou over a whole season, and sadly I belive that includes James Dabill (please prove me wrong Dibs ). Dani Oliveras dominated the youth & junior chanpio…

2008 Scott Trial- Takahisa Fujinami 4th (Winner Ian Austermuhle) 2010 Scottish 6 Day- Albert Cabestany 9th (Winner Alex Wigg) Proof (If needed) that current world trials are going in the wrong direction. OK Dougie would have won this years Scottish but you get my point. The above results are far more interesting than the current world trial results, and I bet the events are too. How about this for a world trial "Template" - 50 Sections - 50 Miles - 1 Lap - 4 Petrol Stops - 10 Miles / 10 Sections Between Stops - 5 Time Check's (4 Petrol Stops and the End) - No Minders - No Intercoms - No Outside Assistance, major parts of the bike marked OK I know Adam &…

Great to see Gas Gas stepping in and supporting Arnau Farre by providing him a bike and support as he recovers from knee surgery and being unceremoniously dumped by Vertigo. Looked to be a true rising star on the Gasser. Hopefully he comes back better and stronger in 2019 and back with Gas Gas for Trial GP Well played Gas Gas

Just back from an excellent weekend in Isola. Cracking scenary, sections and a fantastic drive to get there. As a trials rider over the past years (too many to state !) I've witnessed a few rider/observer disagreements but there was one strange situation on Sunday. On the second lap @ section 14, a certain italian riding sherco arrived and walking through the section and pointed out to the observer that a large rock had moved since the first lap and asked if he could move it back to its previous position. The observer looked at the rock and was kind enough to lift it (2 handed lift so quite a big one !) and re-position a couple of feet further back into the hole he want…

In answer to Doug's comment regarding his performance at Sheffield, i quote, ' I was obviously very disappointed with my performance but I was most disappointed for letting you guys down'. I hope I speak for the majority of trials riders in saying that Doug hasn't ever let his fans down. His 7 world outdoor and his 7 indoor titles bear testament to that. If Doug carries on giving 110% as we know he will then I for one will not feel let down, regardless of the position in which he finishes. Whilst he may not, at present, have a world title he will always be a true World Champion. Quite simply there isn't a current rider out there who can beat Dougie's 7 consequetive W…

I have not seen any announcement of if/where X Trial highlights will be broadcast. A quick scan of the Motors TV schedule didn't reveal anything. Does anybody know if highlights will be televised?

For those who are planning to visit the US for the Arizona world round or anywhere else for that matter I thought I would toss together a post about what a traveler should expect. Most of my interactions and travels have been between US and Europe but this should apply globally. I don't know all or any of the visa laws from your country so that part you will need to research independently. First impressions when getting to the US: When I travel to Europe i am surprised usually that I am hardly ever asked a question at a pass port inspection. Here in the US even as a US citizen traveling from Canada, Mexico, Europe ect... I am asked at least 20 questions about w…

So we kick off again this weekend in Germany. Am guessing not many expecting to see Toni Bou overhauled this year, so 1st place is pretty much a given I expect. But what and who do we think from 2nd down? these places consist currently of very well established riders with all of the major players (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th places) bar Fajardo having been on the WTC scene for 12+ years now so - Will anything major change in 2011? Will one of the Brits get amongst Raga, Fuji, Fajardo and Cabestany? Will there be any mega stars emerging in 2011?? I personally think Pol Tarres will go big this year Will anyone other than Bou even win a round in 2011? Heres hoping for a good y…
