Does anyone have thoughts on buying trials bikes that have no paperwork. I'm trying to buy one for my son,I have paperwork for mine but I've come across a couple for sale with no paperwork. Is this accepted practice here in the UK for off road vehicles that are not going to be used on the road. Obviously my aim here is to avoid buying anything stolen.

it's been 35 years since l rode dirt bikes, and maintained a dirt bike, my road bike has a nice device call a scotoiler that is excellent, but would get trash on a trials bike. so how do you keep your chain lubed. chain wax engine oil or another type of oil in the old days l would boil my chain in grease then hang, this seem to work well and get into every bit of the chain, not sure this is still available now. thanks in advance

For those that know me or have seen my vehicles they know that I have a small sticker addiction. A fellow trials riders wife turned me onto a little evil machine that allows me free rain to get any decal I want on demand. I am not into tattoos so I guess this is the way of me expressing myself. Case in point the van back glass. (note picture is outdated but read on) So here I am Friday night and I have plenty of other constructive things that I should be doing and I cant turn my engineering brain off so I head to my local craft store to enhance an already cool machine. By enhance I have enabled myself to create my own gaskets on demand. Let me explain. My …

Sadly whilst practicing last friday I snapped my anterior crucia ligament and damaged the knee in general. Knee is like a balloon and I am non weight bearing. Surgery will be once the swelling has gone down. Was just wondering if anybody else has done the same and how soon did they return to trials afterwards, if they did at all ? Also what sort of knee braces do people use ?

Boxing day sucked, not only did I have a stupid crash that gave me such a dead leg my foot went numb for about 3 hours but I also found out how vital the balls on the end of levers are. Without one I would have literally had me nut sack ripped open. Was and is bad enough, still squeaking and walking like John Wayne. Oh well things can only get better. Anyone else keep having stupid offs or is it a phase I am going through. Happy New Year to all and I hope you have a great 2009

My son's TXT 80 has a lovely 4-pot caliper that I'm thinking would make a dandy replacement for the 2-pot one on my 2.9. I need more stopper than he does! Anybody know if the master cyl is the same for 2 and 4-pot calipers? On some bikes (non-trials) you need a new master for moving the extra fluid.

Does the swing arm actually rebounce with the aid of the engine? How does toni lift the bike to that height in terms of mechanical, body movement and physics?

Can anybody explain how bolts are measured? I want to get rid of the 5 phillips bolts on the rear mudguard and the 3 phillips head bolts that hold the middle box and rear silencer on (05 Beta). I want to order them online and don't want to end up with the wrong ones being delivered. Obviously, bolts/screws come with different head types: - hex, allen, phillips, slot etc. Length of bolt isn't a problem as I can measure the original ones. I'm struggling to find out the bolt diameter and thread type Any suggestions? Cheers

I'm preparing to purchace my first bike but I'm not educated in the way of the mototrial... There are so many options out there and id like my choice to be sound when i finally make my purchase. I've read through the forum and caught some of the good and bad of different brands but I'm still unsure what kind of things to take into consideration. At this point I have my eye on an 09 Gasgas 250 pro and a Sherco 290 same year. Both owners are asking $4900 dollars. Which bike is stocked with better components or is just better in general? They are both in great shape. Do they have different geometry or do all bikes ride similar? The Sherco has a bigger motor but I'm t…

Just noticed that everybody talks about everything related with trials except the trials we all actually ride in. Perhaps we could have a forum to discuss which are the best venues in different areas of the country, which trials are worth travelling for, which are the good road trials (we have some good 2 laps of 18-20 section trials eg; Stocksbridge trial, Hipwell trial etc) that are better than many of the nationals. Which trials are not worth bothering with. Some organisers put on events which really suit beginners but you don't till you get there. What routes are provided (Hard - Clubman - Easy - 50/50). Are they what they say. Is there good route marking. Are…

Hi all, Just dug my dads Aprilia CLimber out of the shed for my annual terrified ride on the beast! Cleaned carb up etc , and first ride went fine...then on the second ride, the carby was playing up. DOnt think it could have got dirty that quick eh?? I'd used some 2 stroke oil that had been in the shed (already openend bottle) for over a year...just wondered if that is the culprit, maybe its gone off??.. I will of course give the carb another clean anyway, and I guess I should chuck that old bottle of Silkolene and start with a new one? Being a tight bugger, I just dont wanna chuck an almost full bottle of 2T away. SO.....should I chuck it or shouldnt I???
