Someone has butchered a paint job on the scorpa I bought. It's the wrong colour and its all cracked on the tank with expanding. I was going to leave it but it looks pants. How is it best to start stripping the crap off and painting it again. I've just seen a video of Rit dye but that seems a little restrictive. Its a 2003 scorpa sy250. Also, the mud guard has developed a fracture just after the bolt hole. I dont think it helped being on the back of the DC bike rack and the wind pulling up on the guard, in future i will remove the mud guard when its on the rack. if i drill holes either side of the crack and use small cable ties will that do for now? Jon

The Midland Centre Trial planned for today was cancelled due to lack of entries, so we decided to droop in on a local practice venue for a few hours. When we turned up, it looked more like a club trial with vans and trailers everywhere. I exagerate slightly, but by lunch time there were fifteen trials bikes riding around this little quarry and it made me wonder just how many people ride for fun and never (or rarely compete) in events? If 'us' fifteen riders had all entered the Centre Trial, then the chances are that there would have been enough riders to have made it viable for the organisers. What do you prefer?

Isn't it ironic for a sport that is based on overcoming difficult obstacles and conditions, that as soon as it snows all events are cancelled. (Yes, I do know the reasons why, but I can't help the feeling that it wouldn't have happened in the "good old days" when most of us would have got there somehow, despite the lack of traction control, ABS and hour-by-hour weather forecasts.)

Where are the places to look with a view to buying a secondhand trials bike, either private or from a dealer? I've found eBay, Gumtree and the advert section of this site of course. I've also found a few other websites that just re-hash adverts from other sources (pretty pointless). Are there any others I should be looking at? What about dealers? I've found a few in the north of England but they're too far away, and anyway I'd rather buy a bike that hasn't spent too much time bouncing off rocks. I heard of BVM but they don't seem to have much on their website apart from new and nearly-new. I also found RCM in Cornwall but they are also a long way away, in the ot…

As with alot of people, Sunday is the only day I can ride. So I tend to make the most of it which is why today was especially frustrating! I got up bright and breezy at 7am ready for a proper days ride. I hadnt ridden last week due to repairs being done and the previous week was only 1/2 a day due to me breaking the swingarm so I was definatly ready for a good ride. I set off from my home in Chesterfield to Hawks Nest near Buxton. driving along the weather looked beautiful, nice and bright, dry ground and only a bit of wind. After an hours driving and arriving at Hawks Nest this all changed, the wind was crazy, Door was nearly ripped off the van as it was dragged out m…

Its nice to see tha acu take on board problems and deal with them - NOT! Just been back home for dinner and had a quick read through the selected riders list, 17 on the british championship course, 5 or 6 on the masters, 29 on the expert route, 5 riders from youth. with 9 in priority order for the reserve list - Which includes riders such as Richard Timperley, Nathan Wrigglesworth etc - who both, i will admit are better riders than me! So how does the ACU board select these riders, is it on merit, previous results etc, because i find it hard to believe that Maria Conway can be accepted straight on to the expert championship list, and Richard Timperley can't, Th…

Having been going to France & Switzerland for last 18 years and as a result of seeing several hospitalisation crashes at the last event I decided to look into "proper insurance" to satisfy ACU & FIM affiliated clubs. I am 58 years young and wouldn't go and do these events if I wasn't fit enough... in fact I find them less physically taxing than 4 laps around local farm /quarry or field. It appears that I need for ACU "endorsment" 1) Doctors report (anything up to
