Afternoon all, I have just registered with this fine forum. Fair play there are a lot of helpful topics and people on here. I was wondering if there are any members local to me (Forest Of Dean) that use their bikes locally? Also are there any other shops apart from BVM Moto in Stroud that do trials bike stuff? Ta very muchly. Chris.

Looking forward to following the Vic Brittian round the clee hill this weekend only to find out it not a road event at all now and is being held in Farley Quarry of all places Used to be good to follow the boys around the Clee's......is the future of this trial going to be off road only?

Strikes me that young Dan Thorpe is busy proving he's the "best of the rest" in the UK. Good on ya Dan.

Hi, We're aiming to venture up to the Scott at the weekend ..... really looking forward to it. Perce, you did a great spectator route last year, any chance of another this year (I appreciate you're probably just a tad busy, but if you do get chance we'd be grateful)? Also, anyone got a map link showing where the start is? Thanks

Hi I am new to all this, taking delivery of a montesa 315r at the weekend. I plan to join a club and start entering events at some point ( I know thats probably the best way to learn). Before that I want to get a bit of practice, so like the title says, does anyone know of any good practice grounds in Northamptonshire?

I wanted to take some pictures of a rider cleaning the big logs found in the practice area at Top Farm near Broadway.I just couldn't find anyone who could do it for the camera. Today, I actually found a rider who could do it, here's the evidence. Anyone spot who it is?

  14. Hi, I'm looking to spectate at a trail on Sunday in part just for the fun of it but also to get an idea what to expect from an easy/novice route. Seaton Delaval and Richmond Motor Club are both have trials listed and are within reasonable traveling distance. I've tried this previously and only really found people riding between sections, and sections in quarries which I'm hoping were part of an advanced route as the riding was well beyond my current capabilities. Has anyone got any advice on a suitable place and time? Thanks Allan

Just got back from Nord Vue, where the Briish Experts trial took place, and I had a really great day. Graham Jarvis has sorted some awesome sections, blending natural areas of the quarry with manmade sections, and all sections were very challenging. Dougie won with Michael Brown second and Dabil third. Bit of a scare for us all when dougie tried section 13 on lap 2 ( which had 2 vertical climbs of about 12 feet) and failed to reach top of second one. His father was shouting about his injured eye while still holding onto Dougie's bike, looked like handlebar had hit him above the eye, when a medic eventually came there was quite a bit of blood to be seen good job it missed …

I would appreciate a bit of guidance on marking riders attempts at sections in an event like the recent Brian Fowler Memorial Trial. If a rider slides backwards, let us say half a metre or a couple of feet to be clear, in control and feet up, on for example one of those big sloping rock sections what should the observer score? Is it a failure, a 1 mark penalty or nothing? The riders certainly expected no penalty at that trial for example. Secondly if a rider has a clear failure in the middle of the section should they then immediately leave the section without trying to complete it as they are no longer being 'observed.' I am generally referring to the elite riders a…

I confirm the British Trial Des Nations Squads who will compete in the event in France. Men: Dougie Lampkin, Graham Jarvis, Shaun Morris, James Dabill. As usual - Steve Colley - whose results in Brit Champ prove he can still beat most of them - was the difficult name to leave out. It was felt however that Shaun and James as up and coming riders who are competing on the World and European stage deserve a chance to represent the UK - and have the opportunity the gain experience with Dougie and Graham which will hopefully pay off in future years. This certainly proved the case last year when Shaun rode brilliantly Steve understands this situation - but for sur…
