SSDT Chat

Such a popular event it deserves it's own forum!

  1. Hi Folks, As it says above, I have managed to get an entry for this years SSDT and as I discovered today I am mega unfit (I blame man flu and christmas beer!) I am trying to ride as much as possible and have started riding the hard route but the trials in my area all seem to be in quarries, don't get me wrong the trials are really good and land is hard to come by but I want to try something that is a little more like the scottish, something which has sections in burns and has a good couple of miles round the loop and a bit of a challenge but not something where I will break myself or the bike. I am willing to travel, 2.5 hours will be my limit. (I live in Gainsbor…

I was watching the Nevis Radio parc ferme footage this morning on-line. Doug Lampkin appeared to have a massive rucksack, I also didn't see Harry Lampkin in the start queue, so I guess there are 3 possibilities: Harry is not riding, so Doug is carrying extra spares Harry is stowed away in Doug's rucksack Doug is attempting all six days unsupported so has set off with all his food & provisions on day one @andy I hope you are on the case, we need a photo inside that rucksack before the week is out!

I urgently need high resolution digital or scanned photos of riders in the 1970's 80's 90's. I only really need one from each decade but would like a choice. They would ideally be in landscape and show the riders face as well as the bike, sections and ideally a little background. If you can help please PM me and I'll supply a email address. These must be copyright free as they will be used in one of my videos. Cheer John

Just been watchin trotters burn 2009 on youtube......I now see the need for waterproofs ! When you ride a 4rt, do you get a free alpinestars jacket with it, as they've all got one on. Just out of curiosity.....how long do you ride for each day, and where abouts does this section come in to play (what day?/after how long?) as everyone looks rather cream crackered !!! If it sounds as though Im having a go, I assure you Im not......just interested thats all ! Should've carried on looking at youtube......it says its on day 1.

  8. Planning my first visit up the SSDT this year. Will be taking my 5yr lad - so, looking for advice on spectating areas that we can get to - without too much of a hike away from where I can park a car? Any recommendations? Thanks!

It was a tough one. You had the guy giving Andy the finger - Or the dude that's helmet was half cocked, he looked tuckered out, and his tongue was hanging out. Still he managed to hang a great photo op. Here's my shot of the day!

  12. I've been pondering for a while as to the fate of one of the most famous sections in the world. Does anyone have any knowledge of whether it is still accessible either on foot or by bike? I think I heard someone say it is underwater in a reservoir? If anyone has any info at all I would be very pleased to read it!! Pete.

I've been busy uploading photos to an online server for safekeeping and I found an old hard drive with loads of trials related stuff on it. First up is 120+ photos from the Thu, Fri and Sat of the 2003 SSDT. Photo gallery is here... (The gallery images are at the original size so click the icon at the bottom to expand them then click again to zoom in if needed...) Also found a folder with over 80 gig' of trials videos ranging from club trials, BTC to WR's!

Every year same old, same old with illegal riders following the course of the Pre 65 and published at the bottom of the results? These people are obviously not concerned about the future of both the Pre 65 or the SSDT. In some people’s minds it is like anything you are doing wrong you will continue to do it until you are caught, hence they continue and it will be the same next year. Publishing it year on year out falls on deaf ears and I have sympathy with the officials as they cannot man every bit of the course so what indeed is the solution to this ongoing problem to preserve both of the events? Maybe the landowners one day will pull the plug? If you are…

The routes for the Centenary SSDT are now available to download. We'd ask that everybody pays attention to our request that unauthorised bikes stay off the route, both before and during the event. We run a real risk of losing some of our key ground due to illegal riding, so if we want the SSDT to survive the next one hundred years, we all need to do our bit. SSDT Centenary Routes
