Oh no !! Very sad news. Ally Finlay a ex-secretary of SSDT trials died last Monday. He was a good secretary some years ago, before Mairi and Big John Moffat. I'm proud to have known you Mr.Ally ! Rest in pace Ally and my condolences to Blair and Margaret Finlay.

Many of you riders will have seen two dodgy looking blokes in bright red XC-Ting rubber gear photographing at sections that other spectators couldn't get to very easily (This was me Bigfoot and my mate AGM). We went to sections most people other than the riders just don't get to see we also tried to capture riders looking there best in spectacular looking sections but still in control feet up. We did this on behalf of TRIALSPHOTOS.COM but as interest in last years event begins to be over taken by the 2007 event we feel releasing the 2006 ones will only help raise the profile of the event and TrialsCentral/TrialPhotos. Our efforts resulted in around 700 good shots. These…

Well, this time next week literally thousands of us will have arrived in Fort William for the start of one of the greatest weeks in the trials calendar. It's incredible to think that it's come round again so quickly! Most of us will spend the best part of this week organising everything that needs to be taken with us, so for those of you riding the trial, read on for some reminders on the things you're not allowed to forget. For those of you just coming along for the show, here's some more about the events taking place throughout the week... Parc Ferme... As usual, the Parc Ferme is based in the West End Car Park on the waterfront in Fort William. If you haven't been …

Heard Scotland has had the best snow for years don't know if it will affect the trial but check out the snow http://www.winterhighland.info/forum/read.php?2,60934 Look at the bottom of the page, hope everyone's got their avalanche transceivers with them Glencoe and Ben Nevis are still open for skiing so I've heard.

Day 5 has been rough on Baldilocks, falling back a bit from Becky, and with Emma on his heels! Must make up a few points tomorrow, or he will be a girl sandwich! Looks like Jack is out! Come on Dougie! These kids are just too much! Even Jamie is doing well!

Just published an article on my "blog" called "The First Week of May" with all the fun and preparation for the SSDT back in the 70's. Includes an interesting quote from a young (then) Martin Lampkin on how to ride the event. To all attending, good luck, I wish I were there...... maybe next year? Tony

Planning this year’s trip to the Scottish and looks like I am going to have to bring the dog. I’m pretty sure there’s a couple of groups that are no dogs allowed (Fersit?) but wanted to know if the majority of spectator groups are dog on a lead friendly? Thanks Dave

It's becoming a bit of a tradition that some of the TC regulars get together one night in Ft. Will for a curry and a few . There's a good curry house on the High Street. Tuesday night is proposed for this year. If anybody fancies it, drop me a PM so I have an idea of numbers to book.

After many years of providing the top-notch Montesa service at the SSDT, Caz finally has a year off where she can take in the Trial and relax, but is she going to? Nope. She's going to climb Ben Nevis in aid of The Christie Cancer Charity in Manchester in memory of her late father, Jim. If you've enjoyed Sandiford's hospitality and service at the SSDT over the many years, go on - donate a couple of quid. At the time of writing this Caz is at 89% of her target. Every little helps so, let's see her get there HOWEVER!!! Taking on the mighty Ben Nevis is NOT what makes Caroline Sandiford a remarkable woman. What makes her remarkable is that she's actually manage to do w…
