Tweet from the SSDT site says " ssdtoffice Here's a starter for you - Town Hall Brae may have a wee revamp by May...and it's getting used on both Monday and Saturday... " Hate to admit it, but I have dabbed it a time or two, however the last time I did ride it with a flat sack. I also remember Crosser doing a fancy bit of riding up there one year. Wonder what they have in store for the revamp?.

At Chairlift on Thursday morning a friend of mine loaned me his pristine Yamaha pressure gauge & unfortunately I proceeded to loose it somewhere between the bottom of the first section & the begin cards of the 3rd section. Is there anybody out there that can help me replace this item?

Hi All, Daft question time: How hard is the SSDT? To put that in more words; I'm an average clubman that rides the clubbie route in Sarf Midlands trials. I've done so (despite a long break) for many years and usually survive a Sunday. I'm pretty fit (4 London Marathon finishes and many, many half marathins, 10k etc) and am unlikely to croak with a week of hard effort. As a follower of the sport for many years, as far as I'm concerned the SSDT is THE trial to do. It's on the bucket list... The question is, is it an attainable goal? Is an average clubmen going to record so many fives and damage themselves so badly as to incovenience others and generally get in the way?…

as a long time supporter and watcher of the ssdt I think it has now become to predictable for to many years now we have not had the top continental riders after over thirty years with hardly a break I would like to see our top domestic riders put under the pressure that Michaud Vestrinan Shrieber Burgat etc brought to the Highland Classic.

I am considering my first SSDT in 2013 (although more likely to be 2014). Just wondering how 'legal' myself and my bike need to be, I know I'll have to take my bike test however I'm not sure what insurance etc would be required. Also, how much would I expect the week to cost including entry etc?

There's a distinct lack of SSDT chat this year.....has everyone lost interest, or are you all too busy sorting your protein intakes to chat/gurn about it these days?! I miss the old banter!

So who will win the six days? Dougie must be favourite but I'd love to see Michael Brown win having been second so many times. Jack Price has ridden before on a 125 but should do much better on a 300. What do people think ?

This Ad on the TC Classifieds (I think 2 grand for a very tentative link to the SSDT is a bit optimistic!) reminded me... Back in my early days with the SSDT there used to be a car (a burgundy Peugeot I seem to recall) there every year with the Reg No "6 DAY". Anybody know who owned it and what became of it as I've not seen either car or Reg for yonks. At the time i thought it the coolest plate on the planet!

After reading Shirty's SSDT and Beta UK guide for SSDT preparation I thought I would add the over 50's ibruprofen guide to the SSDT. First off your not going to win, so stop dreaming thi old git we can watch the young tykes do that as were catching our wind after each group. Don't ever get off your bike if you can see both start and end cards, once you have walked to the top and back down again you'll not have the energy to start the bugger. Make sure you wear braces to keep thi breeches up, no bugger spectating wants to see an hairy old plumbers crack hanging over the back fender of a trials bike, it just turns them off trials. Pack chapstick and vaseline, …

I was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips for getting a rear tire back on the rim when out on a Scottish moor? I had always thought that should I be unfortunate enough to have the rear come off the rim I would take out the valve and fit the spare front tube in the rear. I thought I would then be able to inflate it with a pump and a CO2 cartridge to get it out onto the rim before letting it down to a more useful pressure to continue riding the sections before getting back to Fort William

I would like to go and watch the SSDT this year and as i have never been before I dont have a clue what part of scottyland it is in. Anyone know where i can get some maps? Thanks

The winker (deliberate typo) who scraped my car, but drove on without leaving a note saying they'd hit me. I always follow the rules that were set down years ago regarding parking at sections - always get behind the white line if there is one or ensure your car is totally off the road. Given where my car was parked over the week and the height of the scrape it was almost certainly a van (and a filthy white one at that) and therefore almost certainly one of the "support vehicles" travelling round and therefore a Trials person who hit it - which makes it pretty disappointing that they didn't have the balls to admit to it.
