  5. So the boat ticket is booked, I know roughly where it is, i know whos running it (Bill Pye) and the 340 fantic should be serviced in time. I know Bilco is going and a few other yorkshire boys too. What else do i need to know? I will be tenting it on site, which I am told is ok. Is it primative or are there any loos? I understand, that the pub sells beer and no food. Good for some but what about eating over 3 days? Any recommendations? Can I use throw away bar-b-q to grill some steaks? If it is wet, am i gonna get stuck on the parking? what about the sections? who has ridden it? hard/easy? I know its all the same route scored over 3 days. any pictures out there? Le…

Hi I’m thinking about building a trials project, I’ve various bits including a tiger cub engine and a c15 frame that looks like it’s been modified for trials. My first question is has anyone put a cub engine with a c15 frame and was it successful ? Or should I just source a tiger cub frame ?

I've just bought a 1959 AJS 16MS in trials trim, I believe it would have originaly been a standard road bike. I just called Footmas James who I have another classic bike insured with and they say they won't insure it because it's a trials bike! When I asked them if it would make any difference if it was an original factory trials bike they said it wouldn't as they don't insure trials bikes! Can anyone recommend any insurers who will insure a classic trials bike? Thanks and here's a pic of the bike.

  10. Started by biggwil,

Hi everyone , I have a BSA B40 GB engine which is nicely fettled now which is currently in my old C15 frame which is very heavy and not ideal as the chain pitch has now changed so the chain is grinding through the swinging arm slipper after a days riding . There was a much larger rear sprocket on the bike as a C 15 but the gearing was no good for the road work . I'm very happy with the current setup thats on the B40 GB motor . I've looked at Faber frames but a good friend has suggested I also look at Bartram frames . I've looked for a contact for Bartram frames but probably looking in the wrong places as usual so thought I would try the forums advice ? If anyone has a con…

  11. From the Bemrose with 200 entries and over subscribed, to this weekends round with an enrty of approx 35% that number. Many top names who competed in the earlier rounds appear to be dropping out each round. So! Where is everyone? Why are the entries declining each round? What's gone wrong with the championship? Other classic championships appear to be going from strength to strenght ie, the PJ1 Northern British Bike Championship and that's without twin shock classes.

Hi All Here is my first posting after many hours of reading some very interesting threads. I am looking for comments on upgrading fork spring to the HFS Clubman or Expert (not that I am an expect rider, but one can live in hope) system for my newly purchased Fantic 200 FM350. Is the extra £100+ over a set of standard new springs justified? The fork upgrade will go along the Rockshocks I plan to buy for the rear. Cheers Mike

I ride in the US and have a 1987 Beta TR 34 and a Fantic 240 Pro. One has to go as I set the spring lineup of bikes to ride this year. I am not a serious trials rider. Go to a 2-4 meets a year, ride novice and in my yard. I do it because it's fun and it helps so much with enduro, hare scrambles etc. Both bikes are in about the same shape. The Fantic my be a little nicer. The Beta is the best balancing bike and is a better pure trials bike. I think parts are much harder to find though. Worry that a crank or ignition failure might finish off the Beta. I like to ride really technical trails with lots of logs, off camber tight turns. Might run 12-14 miles in an afte…

Hi Guys I am at the early stages of getting a 1974 Yamaha TY250 into a usable condition I have put a new carb on it and an electronic ignition and now it actually runs I thought it might also be nice to be able to stop it so will be fitting a kill switch - the question is where do you feel is the best location for it ? It's a normal press button type but I have seen them fitted on the left hand bar - on the right hand bar and even in the middle between the two bar clamps I would be interested to hear your feedback in regards to the pros and cons of these locations

  15. Started by westyfield,

One of my Greeves trials alloy barrels has a head with the combustion chamber offset and with the spark plug in the centre of the off-set. Can anyone tell me which way to position the head? Spark plug off-set to the fore or towards the back? My good friend tells me it should be forward but my engine builder, of cosiderable experience, built it up and marked it to be at the back..I assume it will have been designed with the flow of the transfer ports and exhaust port in mind and it seems to run smoother with it at the front! So is that the answer?

I'm looking for a sump guard for my Cub. I've seen this snazzy looking thing from Sammy Miller...er made of plastic. Can I ask whether anyone has fitted one of these and if they are robust. I'm guessing the alternative is the steel one from Meridan offroad

Im interested in adding one of these (if i can find one?) it wont be a rigid!!! to my collection as ive always loved the look of these bikes, how much are these in good condition? what year/ model best? how effective are these in pre65 trials (dont quote len hutty as thats more to do with the rider than the bike! ) also can one get used to the rear brake being on the left side of the machine as ive always been on continental re japs style bikes most of my life! pointers what to look for in case of being ripped off? thanks in advance lads

  19. Hello guys, last year I've got a 1973 Explorer with a semi-seized engine. Managed to find another one that should be in working conditions but the owner doesn't know which model it's from. I tried putting the engine in, it looks the same when it comes to frame brackets but it doesn't fit... it's like it's slightly thicker than the stock one where the engine meets the frame in the swingarm/filter area. Also noticed the right side sprocket cover is different (longer)... any idea? Is it better to slightly file the engine bracket or the frame?
