Classic Trials

Has anyone done any long distance trials such as the Moor to Sea and the Ilkley Trial? I fancy a go at something a bit different. If so what sort of bike would be suitable? A pre 65,a twinshock or even a modern enduro type bike? What sort of bikes are popular in these events and are the trials any good? Any thoughts/comments welcomed.

Hi all I'm looking for an old trials rider from the '60s and '70s called Mike Saintey. He should be around about 70 now. The last address I have for him is in Portsmouth where he was staying in 1998. The reason I'm looking for him is that he was the first owner of my Cheetah trials bike and I'm hoping to get some info that will assist me in restoring it to "as competed" condition. When having a walk round after the Angela Redford Trial I found a classic trials helmet hiding in the rushes. If the owner of a white Skidlid with a black peak would like it back please send me a PM. It can be collected or returned for the cost of the postage plus a small donation to charity. Should you decide it's time for new helmet let me know and I will dispose of your old one.

Went shopping at "Winfields of Haslingden" today and was surprised to see a mini museum of old bikes. Phone photos so the quality isn't great... Any gems in there?

It was the first round of my clubs trial bike series today. For pre 57 bikes. I didn't ride as i am still waiting for my company car and the guys who normally can fit my bike in their van if I am stuck were busy. I popped over to observe. In the process of getting my James ready for the dreaded m.o.t. as the Scottish i rapidly approaching So is there anything i need to do or make sure of as i have never m.o.t. d a trials bike before. Do i need a horn? reflector ? speedo? All advice appreciated

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Madrid we have the classic bike show. A good friend has been preparing a Spanish Pre-65 bike for the last year as a Top Secret. Nobody new what he was working on. Today I took 2 of my Bultacos to the show for sale, and there was my friend preparing his bike in a stand covered with a canvas. I beg him hundred times to show me the bike before tomorrow, and at last he said yes. What I saw there was the most beautifull trials bike I have ever seen, thousands of hours of work and so much love to trials into it. And he says it works perfectly

Look on ebay there is a helmet that once belonged to Magical Mick Andrews. Item no 160076809764. We are trying to judge if there are any other interested parties on here as its approaching 40 quid and fellow TC user Pitley wants it to wear on his Majesty. He will probably need a blonde wig as well, as like me time has not been kind to him where hair is concerned. (As a coot) He will be gutted if it goes for silly money.

Hi there I have a set of Magical shocks on my ossa that have expired ! I have pulled one apart but have a problem that I cannot get the correct amount of oil back in them . I havnt yet had a response of Craig at Magicals and Iam aware he may now not be trading . Could anyone advise someone who could rebuild them ? I dont want another brand they have been brilliant right up to the point they exploded . Thanks in advance Jim

Can anyone help with advice. I have a Majesty 320 which I have had from new but not ridden since 1988. I am in the process of stripping it down for painting, new bearings etc. The forks have a large hex top cap in them which seems very stiff. I'm not sure how to dissemble them either. I will need to strip them down to refill and maybe fit new seals, and also the top of them is slightly pitted and could do with re-chroming. I think the bike, built by John Shirt, was a TY250, bored out with a bigger flywheel so the forks will be TY250 1978-ish. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

So whats going on ? Which show do we go to or do we do both ? Sorry if it old news and been over before,but I just got my latest Classic Dirt Bike mag.I knew that Mr Wright was moving the show from Malvern,but the new one at Malvern was a suprise.

just had my "thanks but no thanks better luck next year" entry form returned for 2012, oh well never mind, had visions of winning that one as well!. seriously how about upping the twin shock entries next year, maybe make it a three or four day event.

Has anyone got a programme, set of results, pictures, stories or information on the 1970 Manx 2 day trial please ? Anything at all that I can beg, borrow or buy Any help would be much appreciated Thank you !!

Has anyone got any idea when the regs for the Manx Classic come out and where to get them from. In previous years, by the time I've found out they are out the trial is already full.... I'd really like to do it this year along with the Manx National and make a week's holiday out of it as I've never done either. I e-mailed the club yesterday so waiting for their reply but just wondered if anyone on here knew - or even has a set already....

Sitting here on another airport Monday wonder what are chances of getting a twinshock entry for the Manx 2 day next year ? The Wye Valley Trevor Hunt Trophy trial is probably the best apart from the pre65 Scottish and the Manx 2 day and I can't enter the former. Anyone know when the regs are out ? And what's the odds of getting an entry ? There's a few tw-shock riders thinking of entering and aware that numbers are limited.
