my 2002 250 rev3 is nearly always leaking fuel out of the carb floatbowl (not the breathers as mentioned before on here) Checked out the past posts on this subject and found this Done what the mod says with my float 'tang' but it still leaks.......correct me if Im wrong but I think the drawing in the link is wrong ! if you want to restrict the fuel going into the bowl you want the tang going the other way than what Clark says....whats reckon?

This is the colour of my plug after about 3 hrs of riding at a range of throttle openings the 1st time out after new piston rings replate of cylinder bottom end clean out with new main seals standard timing setting water ways perfectly clear with new impeller inner clutch case cleaned exhaust clean air filter and standard jetting. I put in 70ml of Rock oil strawberry trial 2 in to 5L of Shell Super unleaded. With the bike warmed up the idle was still increasing in speed with the screw out 3 turns from closed so I am going to put a 27.5 pilot jet in the carb it's got a 30 I there at the moment which is standard and the main jet is 150 with needle clip in the middle posit…

  4. I have read the Beta clutch sticky, had already tried about everything there except the glue removal (which will be next when I get back to it) and wondering what else might work. -2003 Beta Rev 3. -Not a slipping problem, but a cold sticking AND a sticking when in operation. Does not fully release consistently, so tight section require some back brake, which is inconsistent. Either drags through and continues some forward motion, or the back brake unexpectedly frees the clutch and puts a sudden anchor to forward motion. -We are at least the third owner, have owned it about 7 years, with almost no use the last three years. Has enough use this year that I don't think st…

Hi all, I'm a lucky guy that will throw a leg over a new Beta Evo 250 4T in few days. I came across this information about carb settings I understand that homologation requirements are on the lean side and the bike should run with the competition settings. I have a pair of questions: - What means 'spacer'? In what part of the carb is located? - Are you, beta 4T users, in agreement with the recommended settings? - Are the needed jets supplied in the crate? Well, three of them. Sorry... I hope to share with you my new Beta-times. Cheers, JM

I need to remove the flywheel as there is a problem with the stator or woodruff key( bike wont rev) Having bought the puller tool it won't come off. Do the 2 philips headed screws need to come out first before the flywheel will come off? I have tried to remove these with no success (impact driver etc) If they need to be removed before the flywheel will come off then I will probably need to drill then out !! Any help most appriciated.

I have just bought a Beta Evo 250 2010 and the plug is very black and I suspect its running rich. Does anybody know what the air screw / fuel screw settings should be ? It's a Keihin carb so I need to know how many turns out the mixture screw should be. Thanks Phil

Here we go again then, Pretty sure I,m going to get one next few months but a few questions first as I,ve never ridden one yet? Are the 2010 bikes out yet? If not when are they due? Thinking of getting a 200 or 250, has anyone got a 200 and does it have enough power? Are there any essential mods to make it run at its best and I dont mean bling Whats the front and rear suspension like? Will the swing arm snap? Will the frame crack? Will the carb leak? Will I look abit gay on it after the 4rt? Sensible answers please Dad and Clarkey Just

Hi all I was having an occasional stall. It seems like it would just run out of fuel. Totally not reproducible deliberately. Plenty of spark on the plug. I checked the fuel line. I checked the petcock. I checked the vent hoses. I have dissembled the carb more times than I can count. I can now take the carb out in less than 1 minute. I have cleaned the carb many times after first taking it apart. All the orifices are open. I have checked the float level. It now hardly runs at all! I can start it but now there is no bottom end and it runs very fat. Help

I have my carb in pieces and have sent Billy T an email, as follows but he hasn't responded yet and am wondering if anyone else can help me. Thanks -leips Mr. Traynor- I am emailing you as I have some questions regarding the setup for my mikuni carb for my 2002 beta rev 3 200cc trials bike. The carb leaks if I don't shut the fuel off. I have printed out your directions off of some trials website and am still a little confused. I am not very mechanically inclined but if given detailed directions and proper tools I can do most stuff. I have removed my carb (disconnected both end from the airbox and cyl.) and unscrewed to top part where the throttle attaches). i then r…

My Rev 3 has been at BVM this week having the carb problems sorted out by Steve, from what he said it is like a Completely different bike to when it came in on Monday. Missed my Thursday afternoon ride yesterday, first for months so I will be out on it all day Sunday and hopefully going up big climbs at last and saving me loads on Fuel and popped spark plugs. Wish I had taken it there to be sorted weeks ago, big thanks to Steve and BVM

  16. For those as mechanically inept as myself: My brakes were binding, both the front and the rear. They'd gotten so bad that I could barely push the bike around the garage. The back brake was particularly bad and the disc discoloured with heat after my last ride. I know a lot of other people's bikes suffer from the same issue. I believe it happens for 3 possible reasons: 1) The Master Cylinder is not functioning properly, Piston or Seal issues. It is not returning after pressure is released and therefore pressure remains o the Pads providing unwanted braking effect. 2) Dot 3 and 4 Brake fluid absorbs water over time. Water in the system corrodes the Master Cylinder's and…

Hi. New to this site, but I've read forums here a bunch of times. Looking for any ideas on why my bike is so hard to start, and suggestions on how to fix the problem. I just bought a 2000 beta rev3 250 last week. When i went to get it the guy was working on it. He said he went to start out before i got there, but it wouldn't start. I looked it over and figured out what the problem was and offered him less money. Water had gotten under the stator cover and rusted things. I cleaned it all up and that fixed no spark problem. The hydraulic clutch wasn't working engaging all the way. I fixed that. Then it was back firing. The next day ( today) it kept dying. I figur…

Alright chaps, The main bearing has gone on my 08 rev3 250. I rang lampkins and they have said that the bearing is a special. Has anyone got the bearing reference number and can i get one off the shelf from a bearing supplier? I seem to remember that I could on my 04 sherco. I know this sounds tight but I thought

  20. Started by trapezeartist,

Having ironed out all the other problems on my new-to-me 2014 Evo 250, my one remaining issue is clutch drag. I dropped the oil level to the bottom of the window and did the “Beta clutch fix”. No change. On closer inspection of the master cyl and lever, I realised that the clutch frees off if pulled in hard against the grip, but under normal riding my middle finger is trapped under the ball-end and stops the lever travelling that far. The lever is adjusted to have less than 1mm free play at the pushrod. However the rod inside the master cylinder moves about 3mm before the load becomes significant, presumably because it has to move that far before it starts pushing ag…
