A road based trial with 20 sections and 2 laps. Each rider has an individual start time. All the riders started at the correct time. After the 2nd lap has started 3 riders (riding together) get pulled by the police. He informs the competitors that until he has checked all the bikes they cannot leave the scene. All the bikes are checked and nothing is found to stop them continuing. The police allow the bikes to continue. When the riders arrive at the time control they have incurred time penalties: Rider A 19mins, Rider B 21mins and Rider C 23 mins. This time last year there was one available, when is next years available?

Just a couple of questions regarding this years solo championship, maybe John Collins or someone else at the ACU could answer. I make no excuse for asking these questions, my son wishes to ride in Expert A but has been given a very low priority in Expert B. 1) Why is there a need to split the classes? 2) Why have such a limited entry for Expert A? 3) Why did the entry rules change at the end of the season? 4) How did the ACU T&E Committee prioritise Expert B? 5) Isn't this going to stifle the development of our younger riders moving into the adult class? ps. Have any dates been set for National Clerk of Course seminars? And have the Claasic and Miller series dates been decided yet?

Following concerns expressed at the recent British Trials Champ meeting where the T & E were asked to be more selective in the choice of eligible Youth riders, and also due to the fact that in 2006 there were two A Class Championships running in parallel, riders eligible for the Youth Class in the British Championship will be decided after the first 2 rounds of the 2007 A Class Youth Championship. Any Youth rider wishing to be considered and who has not already applied should do so by contacting the Trials & Enduro Committee, ACU House, Wood St, Rugby CV21 2YX. Does anybody have any names for anyone i can contact at the ACU. Myself and my father sent our 2009 applications of in the same envelope along time ago. We both got the usual email messages to say they were being done, my father received his but mine never arrived. Nobody is replying to the emails I've sent and I'm not usually free in the day to call so does anyone know whose the best point of contact in the licence department? Cheers

We are struggling with the additional requirements stipulated by the MSA for the Colmore Cup on 3rd March. The £2.75 per rider isn't a problem, we've put the entry fee up to cover this. Producing a map and sending it with the completed paperwork has been easy. (I know I did this.) Checking that the route doesn't follow/cross any footpaths, restricted byways etc is a little harder, but has now been completed. But.... how on earth can we send a letter to every houshold within 100m of the 28 mile route? It's almost impossible withthe man power we have available. More worrying still is our LDT later in the year, this is 75 miles round. What are other clubs doing?

Having just seen the final rounds results, is now the time to question the class structure? Those of you who know the riders in both the unit class and the brit special/twinshock class will have noted that all the specials riders are now riding in the unit class because they feel they are not competitive against the twinshocks, hence the guys in the unit class on standard bikes have no chance against the specials so they dont bother entering. IMHO i think these classes need tiying up, so folk know who and what they are competeing against. Splitting these classes into 3 should?? sort the immediate problem. Is there any data showing rider statistics in the UK? I assume that the ACU / SACU have numbers based on licence holders. Is this data available? Then there are quite a few who don't have this and still ride plus other organisations like the AMCA. I noticed when reading the minutes of an ACU board meeting that an official preparing an Enduro in the Langdale forest received a "Section 59" Notice. Now they were there operating under an ACU licence which I presume means they were also there with the Co-Operation of the land owners. the Incident is discribed thus. Langdale Forest Incident Mr Willoughby had reported on a recent incident that had taken place regarding a Work Party of six riders on bikes in the Langdale Forest preparing a course for an Enduro event. John Dickinson wrote in TMX that there was no interest in the ACU Trials Forum because people believe that the ACU Trials and Enduro Committee don't take any notice of what is said at these forums and just do what they want. I believe that nobody wanted to come to the forum because the vast majority of you are happy with the sport we help to promote. It was also sugested that we could hold the forum over the Tials Central web site rather than make everybody travel to Rugby. I am a member of the T&E Committee and I resent the opinion that we are a bunch of megalomaniacs who dont listen. I don't expect anyone to tell us they are happy with us,that never happens, but…

Does anyone know when the dates for next years nationals will be released?

I now confirm that due to the recent change by the FIM of the date of the Japanese World round - the following dates have be changed. The new dates are: June 3rd Cumberland County MCC - Alan Trophy Trial - Novogar June 10th Lighweight MCC - Colin Appleyard - British Solo Trials Champ The T & E wish to particulary thank both clubs for being so flexible and resolving a very difficult sitaution and ensuring that riders were still able to compete in these events. I hear the Alan is going to have a bumper entry - so get your entries in early ( wish I were younger)

I recently rode a 'Stopping Allowed' trial, and was a bit peeved by having to wait whilst the previous riders juggled their bikes back and fro in the section. Each of these riders had to my idea of the rules gone backwards several times, but were conning the observer into thinking they were still moving. If the Observer had a Whistle, then the rider would know when to give up and leave the section. There were so many riders still attempting the section, after what I saw as their back wheel having gone backwards. Clubs should issue Whistles to all Observers at Stopping Allowed trials, so that there is no fudging of the rules.

Have I missed something or do we now not have a World Champion Trials Rider? I have just received the winter (2006) edition of the ACU magazine and to my surprise and many others I might add there is no mention of Alexz and or Sam and there outstanding achievement this year. Now I may be being somewhat biased as both come from my centre and I may be doing the ACU an injustice here as they may well have a plan to do a full double page spread on Alexz and Sam in the next issue. Whilst I fully support the ACU I do feel somewhat aggrieved when they fail to acknowledge such achievement. I could say more to which I might incriminate myself so for now will leave it at that.…
