ACU Discussion

Mid way through last year, the ACU invited all clubs to send their representatives to a trials forum at Rugby. Sadly the event was cancelled due to lack of interest. I had my name down to go and amongst the items that the Stratford-Upon-Avon club wished to raise was the idea of a common set of colours for all trials. Our proposal was put forward in writing anyway. As we know, most events have two routes, many have three and some have more. Confusing and less than ideal I agree, but this is how it is. So why not have a common laid down set of rules so that we all know which colour to set out our trials. You don't need to be a genius to think up a common system. Red arr…

As you may or may not be aware the FIM changed the date of the World Trials in Japan last week

Filling in an ACU entry form... its asking for my name address and what bike I have in my garage... Having had a break in and my bikes stolen in the past, I’m rather hesitant about filling in these details. What happens to these forms and what’s to stop undesirables reading this information?

I noticed when reading the minutes of an ACU board meeting that an official preparing an Enduro in the Langdale forest received a "Section 59" Notice. Now they were there operating under an ACU licence which I presume means they were also there with the Co-Operation of the land owners. the Incident is discribed thus. Langdale Forest Incident Mr Willoughby had reported on a recent incident that had taken place regarding a Work Party of six riders on bikes in the Langdale Forest preparing a course for an Enduro event. So I turned up to this event today, only to be told the trial was last week (aparently it was really good) ... a little while ago there was another trial that appeared on the list for a couple of weeks and then disappeared the day before ... I can understand how difficult it is to co-ordinate the ACU events list, but is this a common problem? Is there anywhere alse I can check for cross-club events in the UK?

Where did that come from??? We now have a Expert List. Expert A and Youth A list and now a three tier Expert B list. Looks like the Gap year was a waste of time.

hi there, i was filling out my registration form and it says youth a,b,c,d at the moment i am classed as a youth a and i would have to ride a 125cc but in a few months time i am 17 so does this mean that i can ride 250 and above? and it also says that for persons that are 16 and above are classed as adults so does this mean i could ride a 250cc now or not?i am only planning on riding clubman trials if this helps. thanks.

Just picked up this comment from a previous post about 'cheating' in a Youth A&B event .... I dont condone cheating of any description but you can see why this comment above is an issue. Nowadays there are a fair few of British youth riders riding under FIM rules in Europe and World events and then having to switch when in the UK. I am not arguing for or against FIM rules in this post, but would just like to hear the ACU's view on this subject please?

It been bad enough having to ride the British Champs under these rubbish rules but now all trials are going to sufferer the same fate! I guess we will see a total demise of the number of riders just like in the British Champs which at the moment isn't even worth the organisers running the entrys are that low. Maybe the only hope is if all the clubs go back to the full no stop rules, that's if there allowed?

Have I missed something or do we now not have a World Champion Trials Rider? I have just received the winter (2006) edition of the ACU magazine and to my surprise and many others I might add there is no mention of Alexz and or Sam and there outstanding achievement this year. Now I may be being somewhat biased as both come from my centre and I may be doing the ACU an injustice here as they may well have a plan to do a full double page spread on Alexz and Sam in the next issue. Whilst I fully support the ACU I do feel somewhat aggrieved when they fail to acknowledge such achievement. I could say more to which I might incriminate myself so for now will leave it at that.…

Are headsets allowed in the BTC?

I’m hoping to start riding trials soon, but I don’t understand how the ACU works with centre groups and A , B (or open) event status? Can I ride in any group, or just the one my club is in? And can I ride in the AMCA trials as well? Could someone explain? Thank you

IMHO the system is in theory something like this rider => club => centre trials sub committee => centre => ACU national council => FIM => T & E committee => UEM for a variety of practical and theoretical reasons this doesn't appear to function well in practise IMHO how can 8 people relay the view of us all when there are 21 (?) centres out there, when the scope is so wide; club to international, a plethora of championships and governing a second sport (ie a trials only centre votes on enduro issues when they don't run enduros) how do other nations do it? …

As a spectator at the last event I had words with competitors that were larking around off course, and nearly run over by a child jumping his bike. Its not my place to tell them its a responsible parents job. If hit by a competitor who is doing stunts or practicing off section,( not just children,) am I or the competitor insured if any injuries are sustained? Some parents seem to let there children go off and try obstacles that arn't marked out for that meeting. Is this acceptable behaviour?

I ride with both ACU and AMCA clubs and i was wondering if AMCA is also no stop? In the AMCA events ive been riding no stop. Cheers,

Just wondering what everyone's views are on the two different systems that operate in the UK? For those that don't know, ACU riders pay

Having recently moved from england to scotland I was just wondering why there is such a big difference between the ACU/SACU trials registration? Is it due to numbers?? as there is obviously more clubs/riders to spread the cost south of the border or is it land policy? or something else? I must add I don't mind in the slightest paying the fee as it works out at less than a meesley £1 a week. Also how do the enduro guys manage to charge £40 for an event when us trials guys manage it for £10???? again I really appreciate all the work everyone puts in to all these events im just curious (not in a gay way). hi, Completely new to trials and yet to join a club but id like to know if I can join more than one club? Im based in the UK and in Cumbria there is more than one club and id like to enter competitions in various clubs but the ACU membership asks for 'club riding for' , so do I have to a main club and then have others as secondaries or can I just do as I please and join them all and leave this blank? many thanks.
