SWM

The reed induction 350 engine fitted to the SWM Jumbo and Armstrong 350 trials bikes was also used in some trail bikes I believe and possibly some motocross bikes as well. Does anyone know which other bikes used these engines? I think they were fitted in some Armstrong/CCM trail bikes but not sure which. I'm hoping to find a spare clutch cover but it doesn't have to have come from an SWM Jumbo engine, it can come from anything as long as it fits, I don't care if it doesn't say SWM on it. If I knew what other bikes these 350 engines were fitted to I could ring around some of the bike breakers and ask, but at the moment I don't know which bikes to ask about. Anyone got an…

Hi guys, just a quick hi, not been around for a while....my fleet of Gixers, other roadbikes, new to me Firestorm, track day car & my love of track days at Snetterton has kept me busy from realising my dream as a World Trials 'Chump'. OK, I dug Speedy out of her hibernation and couldn't free off the clutch, no matter what I did. Next weekend tried again and finally got her to free off but with terrible clutch drag. So yesterday (these things take time!) I stripped the clutch down and my gearbox oil was contaminated with water (again) looking for all purposes like she had done a head gasket - as if watercooled - she was that bad. See…

Hello peeps, Wondering who's got some knowledge to share... took apart the forks to change seals and fill on my new to me and new to be running again SWM 320 first off one tube had the white end bit inside and the other had it outside (see pic) I assume they should both be inside after looking and seeing damage on the white plastic end bit (may still work) Not sure if it was assebled wrong or slipped past the snap ring somehow. next I noticed the springs are not the same length..... does anyone know how I should proceed? thanks lots Tarik

As the title...do the earlier rear brake plates fit the later non-cush drive hub? I'm after a rear brake plate and cam to refurb' and have found one off an early Gori cush drive model. cheers as always

Hi all, I'm trying to find some parts for my bike and seem to be struggling with a few. I need: seat straps side panel screws clutch cover plastic bungs/screws front brake stay to suit Marzocchi forks a kickstart stop (which sounds a bit odd) It's a 1980 model with the plastic tank. Anybody any ideas on where to source these, please? None available from MotoSWM at the minute, it appears. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Neil

China money has resurrected the SWM name and the company is in an excellent position to build quality Italian bikes aka Cagiva/Husqvarna. Right now they are in the 4t mode in the enduro range but they are posed to get the rights to bmw/husky 2t motors that GG has the rights to now. Those engines are torque machines. With a bit of gear change SWM would have as good of motor as Beta if not better, because of the husky power valve. The rich history of SWM trials heritage and a bit of product demand should encourage the designers at SWM to fab a trials frame. I just purchased a SWM 350 Jumbo, The bike is pretty complete and seems original. a couple ?s. The fuel line is way to close to the exhaust. What mod is done to prevent the fuel line from the heat. Thought I read about re-packing the midpipe. How is this done? Need a taillight and tank decals and side panel decals. I checked on SWM site in England but doesn't look like they have the parts. Any other tips and mods for this model. Looks like I have bike number 201. When purchasing the bike I was told less than 20 were imported into USA. What is ballpark value for the bike?

Hi, I've had the crankcasing of my 280 engine beadblasted so as to be able to see if there is any bad corosion which needs to be taken care of before rebuilding. I'd like to know what paint would be the best option to use to reseal the surface, bearing in mind that it needs to be nonporous, hard (scratch resistant) and of course be easy to apply and look good ;o] Any ideas.....

Has anyone successfully managed to clean up a plastic tank to its original yellow. The tank has gone a darker yellow over the years, usually due to UV from sunlight, and the replacement new plastics are significantly lighter. Just wondered if there is a tried and proven method for restoring the original colour without making a mess of it. The plastic is baby bum smooth at the moment and I don't want to try any method that will rough it up.

Anyone know the bearing number? I've put the old one down somewhere and can't find it at the moment to get the number. I have to go to the local bearing stockist tomorrow so if they have some in stock I can get some whilst I'm there.

I got into vintage trials a few years ago, I always wanted a SWM! When I was a kid SWM trials where the bike to have! I didn't have one then but almost 40 years later I finally bought one! I really like them! They handle great and the brakes even work! I enjoy them as much as the modern trials bikes I had! I actually ended up with four over the summer, (sold the 240 to a friend of mine). Went to start my TL320 the kickstart is not engaging i am only getting a clicking sound as it tries to engage. Does anybody have any ideas.what has failed.

Hi guys Hope someone can help us out with our newly acquired Speedy TL 320. There's a bolt plus a hex stud and after loosening said nut a little it seems not to want to tighten back in. The oil has been drained through hex stud and any recommendations for best oil and correct amount would also be appreciated. Photos below and thanks very much in anticipation for any info Cheers Zeb
